What a fun bookish adventure this was! I read Escape from Mr. Lemoncello‘s Library earlier in the year, and was underwhelmed—but this one was what I‘d hoped for out of Lemoncello. Characters with depth, fun puzzles, a nice little mystery, and some sweet themes about family and friendship. I would have loved this when I was 10 or 12, and I really enjoyed it now as an adult.

I spent my morning filling some little free pantries. When I found out 2 had Little Free libraries, well I had to take restock. Pictured in the top row is the Graham elementary food pantry. They don‘t have a little library, but it‘s an elementary school so I left some books anyway.

The second row is at one of the high schools. Their LFL is Nice. Metal coated and they may sure it‘s hard to damage. They had some books...⬇️

I really enjoyed reading this book after wanting to for ages. It is a perfect book for anyone who loves books, riddles, puzzles and scavenger hunts. I am glad to have read this and highly recommend it.

How odd that she could be a solo book hunter for years and enjoy it, but now it felt like something was missing to be on her own.

With help of her new neighbor, she tries to solve and connect clues from the game The Book Scavenger after its creator and her favorite author is attacked. This leads to a whole new mystery about his attack.

This is book #4 on the elementary Reading Special Olympics Booklist. This book looks like so much fun and I have heard the audiobook is fabulous and fun as well. It is about hidden books all over the country and clues to find them are revealed through puzzles. This is one your kids are sure to love! And if they do fall in love with this book there a few more books in the series! ❤️📚

I‘ve been pretty good about not buying a ton of books & reading down my TBR this year, but I may have undone all that good work yesterday with Book Outlet‘s Boxing Day sale.😬I couldn‘t resist these prices—I spent $37 & got 12 books. (And that Madeleine L‘Engle bio—😍) This is half the haul: stay tuned for the rest!

4⭐️ A fun mix of the Caulder books by Blue Balliett. Willy Wonka, and Mr. Lemoncello. It‘s a mystery, but it‘s a treasure hunt. I really liked how the author used real events such as the book Masquerade and its treasure hunt, as well as real characters like Poe, Hammett, and Karuack. This fun romp was not as fast paced as Lemoncello, but allowed itself to be funny in ways that are missing from Blue. I look forward to reading the sequels.

Done. A morning well spent but now time to mow the yard.

Often I have no patience for “childish” antics or behavior in YA books that may be appropriate or true to character. In this book, I didn‘t get annoyed. I liked the plot and puzzle (and the idea of book scavenging!). Good pace, interesting puzzle, good balance of action and character development. Didn‘t like the treatment of a bullying character - too one-dimensional and the main characters thought it fine to return the meanness.

Continuing my personal readathon in my happy place. 😁

Loved this book about books and puzzles. The puzzle the kids are solving is with Poe‘s short story The Gold Bug which is a story about a treasure hunt how perfect. 8 more hours of reading for a total of 17.5 for the #25inFive @Andrew65

I love it when #bookmail arrives two days before the shipping says it will! I picked up book two of the Book Scavenger series on the bargain shelf at Barnes & Noble, so of course, I had to order book one. And somehow, the Pink Carnation book just jumped in my cart! #bookhaul

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was WAY better than Mr. Penubra‘s 24 hr bookstore. I used Book Crossing a lot when I was in high school and the author says it inspired the story. Two kids hunt across San Francicsco to find a treasure hidden by the Willy Wonka of books. A little danger, a lot of code/cyphers and a bit of fun SF and book history makes this book fun and entertaining. It also inspires me to return to book crossing! 4/5 stars

First book completed! It was full of bookish fun and adventure! I loved everything about this book and will be recommending it to my students. It reminded me of Escape From Mr. Lemoncello‘s Library. #24in48

This is a light, fun, middle school story. It has a treasure hunt set in San Francisco with literary references to the Beat writers, City Lights, and Edgar Allen Poe. A lot of info on ciphers too.

Emily moves to San Francisco just in time for the unveiling of the next anticipated book scavenger game from Mr. Griswald, only the reveal doesn‘t happen. Mr. Griswald is shot and in critical condition. No one knows what the game is meant to be.

But what if the book Emily finds is a part of the new game? And not just a piece of the game, but a clue to who shot Griswald?

Full of ciphers, books, and mystery, this is a fun read. And there‘s a # 2!

I‘m having so much fun with this book. My brain is spinning with ideas on how to make a book scavenger hunt for my library/community this summer.

Also, this is my new favorite bookmark, made by my six-year-old.
