Facinating and a little terrifying to think that in some ways we haven't come that far. Many issues (outside of the radium, of course) exist still today.

I love the way Monsieur Perdu can read people in his store and know exactly what they need...I wonder if the clerks do this when I wander trying to find the next best book I'll read....
