Get a Life, Chloe Brown
Get a Life, Chloe Brown: A Novel | Talia Hibbert
Talia Hibbert, one of contemporary romances brightest new stars, delivers a witty, hilarious romantic comedy about a woman whos tired of being boring and recruits her mysterious, sexy neighbor to help her get a lifeperfect for fans of Sally Thorne, Jasmine Guillory, and Helen Hoang. Chloe Brown is a chronically ill computer geek with a goal, a plan, and a list. After almostbut not quitedying, shes determined to spice up her life and finally fit in with her glamorous family. Her Get a Life list has six directives, and shes already completed the first: finally moving out of her familys mansion. The next items? Enjoy a drunken night out. Ride a motorcycle. Go camping. Have meaningless but thoroughly enjoyable sex. Travel the world with nothing but hand luggage. And... do something bad. But its not easy being bad, even when youve written step-by-step guidelines on how to do it correctly. What Chloe needs is a teacher, and she knows just the man for the job. Redford Red Morgan is a handyman with tattoos, a motorcycle, and more sex appeal than ten-thousand Hollywood heartthrobs. Hes also an artist who paints at night and hides his work in the light of day, which Chloe knows because she spies on him occasionally. Just the teeniest, tiniest bit. But when she enlists Red in her mission to rebel, she learns things about him that no spy session could teach her. Like why he clearly resents Chloes wealthy background. And why he never shows his art to anyone. And what really lies beneath his rough exterior

Chloe has spent the last few years overwhelmed by her chronic illness but when she‘s nearly hit by a car, she decides to take more risks. She makes a list of things she wants to accomplish and strong-arms her hot apartment super Red into helping her.
Really adorable hate-to-love romance with great disability representation, a plus size FMC, and struggles with mental illness.

I... think I might like romance? This book certainly challenged my ideas about myself as a reader - I really enjoyed this slow-burn one, and was actually CRYING towards the end! The only reason it isn't 5 is because of the explicit details of the sex scenes.

This was a reread of the book that started my romance reading journey back in spring 2020, & now on my third time reading it, I still love it just as much.
Hibbert is hilarious & cutting & spicy & heartwarming - sometimes all on the same page.
I grabbed this as a vacation read & wasn‘t thinking I‘d read the others in the series - but now I‘m just ready to pick up book 2 🤗

Pretty cute! I love finding romance books with diverse characters. Great #Disabilities rep in this one. Otherwise, it's nothing special but if you enjoy romance books you should give it a read. One thing that could have been better was that in the beginning, Chloe seems like she's written as autistic, but then all the things that bother her or that she does in particular ways just kind of stop, like the author forgot about them or got bored.

I was looking for a cute and funny rom-com to listen on a road trip with hubby. The library hold came in too late, but I listened on my own. It was considerably more steamy than I had bargained for, but by the time the characters got there, I was wholly invested in the plot. It was a good story about what love looks like in action, an examination of how we treat the people we love the most. Chloe and Red were extremely likable characters.

The two protagonists have the hots for each other. I can‘t work out if they‘re just horny or in love. I suspect the first since they‘re still in the non-communication stage.

humouress 2/3rds the way through and dragging a bit. They've finally got together, though (that wasn't a spoiler, was it? 😉), but I'm guessing something else has got to happen before the end. 2y
humouress So Red (his name is Redmond and he has red hair) is upset that Chloe‘s friends abandoned her but she says herself she pushed them away. I mean, if your friend constantly cancels on you at the last minute for over a year, the message she‘s sending is that she doesn‘t want to spend time with you. 2y
humouress I‘m afraid the last 1/3 dragged for me and I skimmed it; it‘s pretty much about how they can‘t keep their hands off each other. Too much casual swearing and more graphic than I‘m comfortable with TBH. Oddly, Red is more 3-D than Chloe. She has fibromyalgia and is in constant pain …and that seems to be about it. I didn‘t get why Red was besotted with her. (edited) 2y

I‘ve seen this book around the LT threads so I picked it up. I hadn‘t realised it‘s set in Nottinghamshire; I had assumed it was set in the States, so that was a pleasant surprise. I like the lightheartedness and the appearance of the main character‘s sisters (who, I think, get their own books in the series). I really appreciate the dual viewpoints and seeing the two main characters from each other‘s perspectives which gives the story more depth.

As a person who tends to read 'just about everything except for romance' I would recommend this to others looking to keep an open mind and give the genre a try. Sure, some of the romance tropes were present but despite some cliches I found this overall very entertaining! Good representation, character development, steamy scenes, as well as scenes that made me laugh and some I even found surprisingly relatable. Looking forward to the next 2! 🤗

Chloe Brown has a “Get a Life” list that she thinks her landlord Redford “Red” Morgan can help her with. The more time they spend together, the more their feelings for each other continue to grow. Will Chloe take a chance on Red?

This book was so cute. The characters were well-written and so was the plot. It was also humorous. I would definitely recommend this book.

A delightful story of discovery of self and the romantic other. Chloe and Red are two very different and emotional bag handlers who are both sweet and innocent at the same time. The insight into self reflection is tasteful and on point while revealing their honest vulnerabilities which keeps the reader cheering on this unlikely pair as they navigate self image, family issues, and personal failures. Lovely read.

I loved that the main character has fibromyalgia. I have fibro myself and it was a realistic look at the illness. (Though it can present differently for everyone.) This was sweet. I loved the characters journey in self awareness. It was definitely more spicy than I expected given the cover, but it didn't overwhelm the story for me. I loved this and will read more by the author.

I liked how main characters had troublesome pasts and one of them was living in pain. There were also interesting secondary characters - several scenes with them would have kept things more hilarious.

I really enjoyed the beginning of the book but the story started to loose it's magic at some point - drama at the end felt unnecessary.

This was overall cute & entertaining story.

#UnpopularOpinion I wasn‘t a fan of this rom-com romance. First it wasn‘t really funny, second it didn‘t feel like a romance. It was definitely STEAMY but not in a sweet romantic way. Chloe suffers from chronic pain ( and I appreciated the author highlighting the mental & physical limitations this causes the person) & in a way to take ownership of her life she creates a bucketlist of sorts. Enter Red, her hunky building maintenance man 👇🏼

Cinfhen who agrees to help Chloe. Of course they instantly fall heavily in lust with each other and sexual shenanigans ensue. Props for Smudge the cat 😻and the best kickass granny 👵🏽 Audio was fun and the author sets up the rest of the family to entice readers to read more of the Brown sisters adventures. 3y

RaeLovesToRead I'm such a board game geek that I feel I should be using something weird and wonderful for this prompt! Like a book with Viticulture, Caylus, Azul or Catan in the title 🤣🤣 3y
TheAromaofBooks @RaeLovesToRead - If you find a book with Catan in the title, let me know 😂 It's a favorite of mine. Dominion would probably be an easier one to locate!! 3y

RaeLovesToRead Ooh! I have a book called Dominion @TheAromaofBooks !! By CJ Sansom... it may be in storage though is the only trouble! 🤔 3y
Cinfhen Yup @Laughterhp I‘m going for LIFE 😉 my kids LOVE to “settle” @RaeLovesToRead @TheAromaofBooks my son has become a HUGE game board enthusiast since Covid and he too has some really unique and interesting board games. He would be disappointed by my lame choice😂😂 3y
TheAromaofBooks I went through a kick a couple of years ago where I backed way too many games on Kickstarter. It was SO fun and I still have a few that I back every time they come out with a new one. Board games are my other addiction after books, and there are piles of them around. Some lesser-known ones that are just really pretty and fun to play that your son might like - Parks (Keymaster Games), Calico (Flatout Games) & Mantis Falls (Distant Rabbit Games) 3y
TheAromaofBooks Mantis Falls is especially unique - it's a cooperative game, except each person gets a (secret) card at the beginning telling their roles, and it's possible - but not guaranteed - that one person playing is actually an assassin. It's a really fun way to play, trying to figure out if someone is trying to kill everyone else 😂 3y
Cinfhen Thanks so much @TheAromaofBooks for sharing your favorite board games!! Im going to pass along the list 💜 3y
TheAromaofBooks I get almost as enthusiastic about recommending games as I do books, so it's a dangerous topic to broach around me 😂 3y

I didn‘t read this series in the correct order. This was the first and my last. There are only 3 Brown sisters so the series is done. I really love them and their love matches. They have real life problems, living their lives and finding love. It‘s delightful, incredibly steamy at times but you‘re just so happy for the characters. I really enjoyed this series and am a little sad there isn‘t another book to read. So glad I stumble upon this series.

I‘d heard so much about this series but was slightly disappointed. Chloe is chronically ill but makes a list of things to do to help her ‘Get a life‘. Introducing Red-the opposite of Chloe who becomes the man to help her tick off her list.
A cute, sweet story which was interesting to see how Red was attentive/tender to Chloe‘s condition. A predictable ending but an enjoyable journey along the way.
