The characters are great and there is tons of atmosphere. That said, it was plenty dark without much in the way of resolution.
I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join in if you want!

#CurrentRead and not sure I'm feeling it. I'm still in the early chapters but I'm not feeling any connection to Sheldon (or is his name Donny? And how long till I understand why he (maybe) has two names?) or his disjointed storytelling. I'll try again after work.
Continuing my TBR project:
This is one the oldest selection on my TBR list - Originally added February 16, 2017.
I had high expectations about this book. Maybe too high because I didn‘t like it as much as I thought I would. To me, it was too much war story and not enough crime drama.
Once I got a handle on the writing style - flashbacks, hallucinations etc - I was better able to enjoy this thriller. Recommend it for the strong development of the main character.
Went to McKay's to drop off some books and of course we ended up bringing some new ones home. Four of them are for the hubs, four for me, and a couple for swaps.

Norwegian By Night
I loved this book not because of the plot, though that was good, but for the insertion of humor.
Such an amazing #LTLPBC package from @DebBates101 ! I LOVE macarons & macaroons, and the packaging is so pretty. Can‘t wait to get into the spooky spirit with the Victorian ghost stories while enjoying the naughty vicar (😂😂😂). Thank you so much!!
#norwegianbynight is excellent #scandinaviannoir. Sheldon Horowitz is old and has just moved from the US, to Norway with his granddaughter. He struggles to find familiarity and maybe experiencing dementia until one day, he helps the neighbours and ends up on the run thru the unfamiliar landscape with a young boy, using skills he thought he'd lost to save this young life. #derekbmiller has finely crafted an breathtaking story.
@Laughterhp @Ajessgirl I hope you both can figure out my map of comments 😕 After I wrote this one I sort of just paused and stared at it. Then decided the most logical thing to do is post it on Litsy #LTLPBC
I am excited to read this and I love all the very thoughtful goodies! Tysm @Laughterhp #LTLPBC 1.2 is gonna be a good one ☺️ @Ajessgirl
Finished this book today. My choice for our #LTLPBC ! I‘m also using it for a couple prompts.
#Booked2018 - MC over 70 (or 80) 🤷🏻♀️ and #popsugar18
This book was a lot different than I thought it was going to be. A lot darker than I thought. It was a little slow for me and some parts were a little confusing. I‘m not going to say anything else and let @DebBates101 @Ajessgirl form their own opinions!

Jaws from 1975 😳 One of my favorite memories is seeing this in the theater with my Dad and my brother!

This #KindleDailyDeal is an unforgettable tale. https://www.amazon.com/Norwegian-Night-Derek-B-Miller-ebook/dp/B008LQ1B1W/ref=mp...
This book is so good! #KindleDailyDeal
Feeling a little devastated by the end of this book. The entire book, actually. The story flowed easily between locations and decades, and I loved Sheldon. I can't wait to visit Norway in 2020 and connect with my roots.
So maybe my book club discussion has made this more of three stars than two stars.
I was meeting a friend at Starbucks but went early and brought my book club book. Pushing through. Definitely not my favorite of our season! But I own it, so it will count for #theunreadshelfproject2018 ...
Unfortunately I haven't read much today because I managed to do a little work from home. #bombcyclone2018
Ugh this book. It's not going well so far for me but it's my book club book. I have an extreme dislike for super old characters who are either doddering or mean. Or when I have to read long passages about bodily functions. Chapter 2- a scene very descriptive about trying to urinate. Ugh. Hope it gets better. Anyone read this one?
#DecDays #YoureAMeanOneMrGrinch Upon first glance both Sheldon & Ove, may seem like two grumpy, crotchety,ill-tempered old men😡 but really the opposite is true!!!! These stories are filled with humor, heart and insightfulness about how we often view our elders and the quick judgements we sometimes make. Highly recommend both books!
This book is on sale for ereaders now- one of my top picks of this year- if you like the norwegians and that dark, cold mystery vibe check it out for 2.99!
A day late for the #Recommendsday sticker, but I had fun reading this one earlier this year. #KindleDailyDeal
I think criminal books are not my cup of tea, or at least this kind. Overall good book, but I couldnt really get into it.
Throughly enjoyed listening to this crime novel with lots of literary elements and spot on narration.
Hubby wants to know why I'm suddenly humming Bowie 24/7 @Marchpane 😂Here's a collection of books I read & enjoyed that feature characters in their #goldenyears 💛💛💛💛💛#SeptemBowie
My killer purchases from one of my favorite Indie Bookstores-Murder by the Book of Houston ! A dark & fun way to celebrate Texas Indie Bookstore Day 📚 #thriller #truecrime #greatauthors #shopindie
Well that was unusual. I read fairly widely in this genre, but that was the first book about an 82 year old Jewish veteran of the Korean war taking on a war criminal from Kosovo in Norway.
As much a meditation on parenting, being Jewish in America, grief, war, and regret as a plot-driven thriller. Sheldon Horowitz is a flawed hero for all ages. Sadly, I'm not holding my breath for the sequel.
So looking through my books for today's #americanboy prompt I realized how many of my books are written from a female perspective, but I did think of this book which is my favorite book I have read in 2017! It takes place in Norway but the main character, Sheldon, is American and Jewish and these facts are essential to the story! #lyricalapril
Reading The Girl in Green. Why not listen to this one as well. #LitsyAtoZ
I loved this book! It dealt with important topics such as war, dementia, PTSD and death. It was such a beautiful story, it is sort of like if A Man Called Ove was a thriller with an unreliable narrator. This might be my favorite read of 2017 so far!
Started a new audiobook while making lunches for tomorrow!! It's pretty good so far!
Audible haul! Only $20.60. I ❤️❤️❤️ Daily Deals.
Loved this. Brought out all the emotions and it's much deeper than the description on the jacket lets on. I've spent some time in Norway and enjoyed Miller's depiction of the people and county. Would be curious to hear a reaction to this book from a Scandi.
