Yes, there were some issues with this book, like characters that lacked much depth, and some “challenges” that tied up a little too neatly, but I loved it anyway. Sometimes this kind of easy, fun read is just what you need...

Just finished listening to this #audiobook

Not sure if all versions play out the same, but I found that the Appendix at the end sort of took away from the actual end of the story... but otherwise, this classic still holds up ... frightening 😱

I saw David Mitchell speak about Slade House a couple of years back and just final got around to reading it. I really liked it... a perfect October read. The references to The Bone Clocks left me wanting to go back and re-read that one.

Whoa 😱
Just finished this for our #workbookclub

Not even sure what to make of it. I‘ve had it on my shelf for a while so I‘m glad someone picked it to force me to finally take the plunge. After our discussion at lunch today and a little tumbling down the Reddit rabbit hole, I feel like this will need a re-read. Just not right away...

WhatThePuck I hated this book. At the end I felt like I had wasted weeks of my time. This was recommended by a friend and now I have trust issues with her. 😂😂 6y
Bookish.SAM Bahaha 😂 @WhatThePuck ... I can understand the trust issues! This is NOT for everyone. You really gotta know what you‘re doing recommending this one. 6y
WhatThePuck She told me that I read a lot of different things and thought if anyone would get this book it would be me. 😂 How wrong she was. I like my books to have a firm beginning and end with definitive lines from point A to B. This book was like the spirals it was written in with pointless, bonus extra rooms that shouldn't be there. At the end I sat there trying to discern a point to the book. 6y
mcipher We are doing a buddy read of it right now and I‘m both loving and being bored by it. I‘m only on chapter 5 so I imagine that it gets even weirder. 6y
Bookish.SAM @mcipher I feel like I went through similar... bored in some parts then heart racing in others. Good luck with the buddy read. I think that‘s a great way to enjoy this bizarre book. When my book club chatted about it everyone read something different into the story/links/theories. It was fun to hear everyone‘s take on it. 6y

Book swap success at the #HBMF2018 ! Traded in five read titles (finished thanks to the #theunreadshelfproject2018 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼) and added five more to the TBR. I'm hoping to finish 2 or 3 of these used books by July and pass on to family and friends when we meet for our Mainland adventure.

Recommended for historical fiction and Tudor fans...
My brain needs to digest still but I feel accomplished finishing this and Trollope this month.

CarolynM I was so surprised by how much I liked this. Bring Up the Bodies is great too. I'm not looking forward to the last of the trilogy - it's not going to end well🙁 7y
beaconhillbooks I will read Bring Up the Bodies but not right away. I thought Wolf Hall would be a five star read for me but sometimes I got a bit lost. Still was very interesting and I have another Mantel, Beyond Black I want to prioritize reading. I didn‘t see when the third book was coming out but I assume soon? 7y
Linsy For sure! Weighty tomes. 6y
beaconhillbooks @Linsy lol yes! Note to self: not good to read two at the same time! 6y

$13.50 at a used book sale can do a LOT of damage to my #TheUnreadShelfProject2018 in one fell swoop when the prices are 25-50 cents a piece! So many Newberys! Favorite illustrators! Favorite authors! Tomie DePaola and Margaret Wise Brown and a Caldecott are hiding in those spines you can‘t read. Good news is there are a lot of slim novels to possibly pick up for today‘s #readathon 📚📚📚

smilingshelves That's an amazing stack! 7y
BucklingBookshelves @smilingshelves Putting them all away had me feeling a bit 🙊! Clearly from all my haul posts lately my April budget has flown out the window — I think I need a full on book ban in May 😬 The kids books at these sales are SO GOOD, I probably should skip the library for (at least) a month too! 7y

Omg. This book. ALL THE FEELS. I cannot believe I waited so long (6 years it's been on my shelf) to read this! Highly recommended to anyone who loved "The Heart's Invisible Furies,"

Lola I LOVED this one. 7y
Zelma This one has been wasting away on my nook. I really need to read it. So many books! 7y
