I read this book 4 years ago and just read it for a second time for the #CosmereBuddyRead. If anyone knows me, you know that I don't remember anything about it if it was longer than a few months ago, 😆! I loved it just as much as the first. The descriptive world, using metals as powers and even though it's fantasy, it feels like this world could exist. It is easy to follow for those of us that aren't as much into fantasy as others.
Wow. I think I can now say I‘m in love with the Cosmere. Brandon Sanderson builds an amazing universe. The magical system he created is fabulous. His character development is great. But he is a true master of plot development. The twists and turns in the last two hundred pages or so left me dizzy. In a good way. If you would like a tag to join us for book 2, let me know. I‘ll post the new schedule next.

Totally blown away by this fantasy. Such a variety of characters. Loved seeing MC Vin transform in several ways as the story progressed. Plus the magic system is impressive. Sanderson explains its complexities well, and clearly leaves room for expansion. I do wonder what happened to the Venture family‘s kandra. I‘m scared it‘s a spy among our group of heroes. Totally up for 19 more stories + the to-be published ones🤓
#CosmereBuddyRead @JacqMac
I don‘t think I‘ve ever exclaimed « Holy shit! » (in a good way) so much at a book in my life. The world that Sanderson has built is super neat and this story was such a wild ride. Glad for the #CosmereBuddyRead to get me started with Sanderson‘s work ?

Brandon Sanderson, fantasy's newest master tale-spinner and author of the acclaimed debut Elantris, dares to turn a genre on its head by asking a simple question: What if the prophesied hero failed to defeat the Dark Lord? The answer will be found in the Mistborn Trilogy, a saga of surprises that begins with the book in your hands. Fantasy will never be the same again.
Wow! That part was really good. I kind of expected something like that to happen, but I really didn‘t expect it so soon. Did you see it coming?
#CosmereBuddyRead
I have finally gotten started on the #CosmereBuddyRead but as I read all of Part One in one evening, I should be able to catch up 😅 What can I say, I enjoy a good heist plot and I find the magic system refreshingly different. And it reads a lot faster than Dostoyevsky or my current non-fiction read 😆
Sorry I‘m a bit late everyone. My MIL died in the early hours of this morning. It wasn‘t a surprise, but it made for a crazy day. Everything is somewhat settled now and I can talk books. This book has been a great escape for me this week. This part was soo good. And somewhat unexpected. I won‘t say much up front. I know some of you are still catching up, so no spoilers. We can discuss in the comments.

Exploring the Cosmere on this #WhereAreYouMonday
Laundry‘s done. Practiced multiple agility objects with dogs for some indoor exercise. Bread is baking. Black bean burgers are chilling before I bake them. And now I get to escape the second fascist initiation ceremony. Thank you Litten friends for posting positive vibes today and thank you Branden Sanderson and any other authors who help us forget the state of the world, even if just for a while.
I‘ve been wanting to start reading Sanderson for quite some time now so I‘m excited to be a part of #CosmereBuddyRead with @JacqMac ! I‘m excited for our discussion this week as I still have many questions but I just couldn‘t put it down and finished it today. I love the unique magic system based on different metals and I‘m obsessed with our main character Vin. I cannot wait to see how this storyline picks up in book 2! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Learned something new about my aging self. I prefer reading ebooks over MMPB. For the past 5 or 6 mornings, I cracked open my MMPB copy of Mistborn and didn‘t even finish the prologue😮💨 I kept having to reread. Decided to buy the trilogy as an ebook set last night. This morning in less than an hour, I‘ve read the prologue and I‘m into chapter 2 of the first part.
Font size really matters. #CosmereBuddyRead
I‘m so into this story now. And I have so many questions! I need to know more about the eleventh metal. And will we ever find out what‘s in the room? And how is the book connected to it all? And… and… and…

Sanderson is one of my favorite authors for a reason, and this book showcases the many reasons why. He writes thought-provoking, high-action fantasy, with some of the most nuanced world-building and magic systems around, and yet his books are approachable and his characters are loveable. ⬇️
Thank you @MommyOfTwo for my #JolabokaflodSwap24 package! The chocolates are yummy and I‘m looking forward to reading this book :)
Sorry for the late post! I was on vacation for half of December in Colorado. I got back to Texas on Tuesday just in time for the snow storm 😅
Thank you @MaleficentBookDragon for hosting!
I have to be honest, I was a little worried when I started this, because what if I didn‘t like it. But now that part one is done, I have to say, I think I might love it. I am definitely intrigued by Vin and I can‘t wait to read more. How did everyone find part one? Are you loving the Cosmere yet?
#CosmereBuddyRead
Spent the morning reading and finished part one of Mistborn. It's been four years since I read this book which means I pretty much remember nothing but I thoroughly enjoyed reading part one. Can't wait to discuss and start part two next week!
#CosmereBuddyRead #Jumpstart2025 @Lizpixie
It's very windy, but a good bit warmer today, so I'm able to get some much needed outdoor reading time today.
The time has come! I‘m so excited to jump into the Cosmere. And to have you all come with me. Here is the reading schedule for the first book. Reading the story as it‘s already divided, seems to be the best way to start. I like a logical stoping and starting point. I also don‘t want it to feel overwhelming. But let me know if you have any issues. If anyone else wants to tag along, please just let me know.
A cheeky Christmas present to myself so I can start the #CosmereBuddyRead in January!
Repost for @JacqMac
We are jumping into the Cosmere in 2025. After much research, I think this is the best reading order. We are going to start with Mistborn on January 1st. We will read one part a week. I will make a discussion post every Tuesday to discuss what we read and remind everyone what comes next.

I loved this book! I could not put it down right from beginning to end.
A group of underdogs join together to defeat the Lord Ruler and corrupt nobels.
The magic system is so cool with their magic being rooted by different metals.
All of the characters were likable and had witty conversations.
There are so many twists and turns, heartbreak, and a little bit of romance.
This is a must-read!
Waiting for my friend. Always always have my kindle with me. This is my basic kindle had since 2011 still going strong as reading some books off my sister as i lent her this kindle for couple years now back to me reading her books before registering back to me :). Absolutely love this booksense app to read soooo much more amd a read with listy friend @Pogue
Lucas & I always do one Christmas in July gift. This is what I got for him. 😍📚
I‘ve had a strong first half of the year in reading. If I‘m able to keep up this pace, I should be back on track to finish 100 books again this year, after a dip in my reading in 2023.
My favorite reads in 2024 so far have been:
Mistborn
Ruthless Vows
Bright Young Women
The Shepherd King Duology
A Letter to the Luminous Deep
Emily Wilde‘s Map of the Otherlands
This was a huge improvement from Sanderson‘s 1st book Elantris. It starts out as a pretty typical fantasy heist story, but through the intricate plotting, extensive world building, and complex but endearing characters, the book becomes an excellent first entry into a fascinating new fantasy series. The very unique magic system is physics based, which adds a lot of dynamism to the fight scenes. There were also some genuinely surprising twists!
This is one of those book club books that represent the reason i joined: I wouldn‘t have picked it. Yet, it really sucked me in! Wow…just lots of fun 🙂
Finally got around to reading a Brandon Sanderson book and I liked it. Good Fantasy, good characters and I didn‘t have to rack my brain to understand the setting. Metals as the power, loved this theory. Vin and Saze are the best. Eland you read too much!:). First in this trilogy.
A few days late, but here are my November reads. I‘m kicking myself for waiting so long to listen to Sanderson‘s Mistborn series- so good! And, of course, a return visit to Shady Hollow is always welcome.
🎧📚🍁
This is the book that got me back into reading after a several years long hiatus so it has a special place in my heart.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 💫
I‘ve been wanting to read this series for a while, and book one was not disappointing!
Very accessible & fun fantasy-heist that is just the beginning into Sanderson‘s vast Cosmere.
I‘ll definitely be continuing!
I quite enjoyed this book. Although I was done with it when I was almost at the end, but then I had spend almost two weeks reading it.
I liked the worldbuilding and the magic. I have the other parts on my wishlist.
TBR since 22/7/2022; 647 pages.
A high fantasy with a unique magic system revolving around Allomancy, the burning of metals. A crazy, epic adventure, about an impossible heist with even higher stakes, found family, likable characters, and a real underdog story. Filled with action, though it is 650 pages you will FLY through it. I was originally intimidated by the size of the books, but the prose, though written extremely well is also very simple and easy to understand. 🔽🔽
I‘ve gone ghost but I‘m back! It‘s been a weird last few months but I think I‘m back to my normal. Currently reading the Mistborn series; I‘m on book 2 and I‘m really enjoying the series. My first time really getting into fantasy!
A pick, for sure, but it had some dips and slow moments throughout. For me, the book coulda been shorter, or maybe the series shoulda been longer (it‘s a trilogy). Also, the main character is very annoying. Very much so.
I‘ll read the second book but I‘m thinking I‘ll need a fairly long break.

Ok, you brilliant readers. I want to give Sanderson a shot. What should I start with? I read Final Empire ages ago and recall nothing, so I'd need to reread it. Is that where I should start? Is there a definitive order to his books? Help!
#WondrousWednesday
1. Vin from Mistborn Era 1, her growth and journey is just wonderful.
2. Eve from JD Robb‘s In Death series - the ultimate no nonsense detective
3. Nevada Baylor from Ilona Andrews Hidden Legacy series. She is not only physically strong but has to be the leader for her family through extreme circumstances.
This was a lot of fun, a very interesting magic system that took me a little bit to understand and the characters were compelling. I am looking forward to the next in the series!
I finished listening to the audiobook of this book. I enjoyed the audiobook very much. Loved the narrator and the characters. I will be continuing this series. I rated this book a 3 out of 5 stars. I finished
this book for the #MarvellousMarchReadathon @Andrew65
I really enjoyed this, as I was reading it was almost playing a film in my head so visually it was well written. The story is really and the first twist was heart wrenching. I didn't get to know as much about some of the characters as I would have liked so didn't have much feelings for them. Hopefully in the later books those characters are expanded upon a bit more.
Really need to read this, but it's fantasy (not really my thing) and it's long... wah!
I've never read any Sanderson but I've heard good things so I requested this through inter-library loan. I look forward to listening to this one.
