bailedI tried I really did & maybe 🤔 I‘m missing something but sadly had to dnf it , maybe just bad timing and a huge TBR and limited time left in this planet 🌍 you realise your never gonna be able to read everything, so it‘s my first dnf of the year. My first time with a sanderson book but hadn‘t put me off I will try maybe a series this one just not for me too slow & couldn‘t engage with the characters

pickI think the reason I gave this four instead of five stars was how long it took me to get into the story. I almost dnf‘d several times, but stuck with it. My husband loved the book and asked me to read it, so I kept going. It did eventually pick up and the last 100 or so pages were really fun. Was it worth the previous 300+ pages? I‘m not sure. I finished THE SUNLIT MAN while I assembled the first wall of my new book nook and played a bit of Candy Crush. While I appreciated it as a look beyond the Cosmere chronology we‘ve seen so far, the story never really sparked for me. I think perhaps it‘s best appreciated by Cosmere superfans who‘ve committed themselves to close readings of all the books, with a huge wealth of detail fresh in their memory.
Got my 2025 reading journal set up while I started THE SUNLIT MAN on audio! I find I‘m way less interested in tracking stuff like genres these days, so I went with a simple monthly list setup, some A to Z challenge pages, a place to log a book for every year I‘ve been alive, a Best Of page, and a spending log.
The book hasn‘t totally grabbed me, though I AM intrigued that it features an established character further on in his timeline.
pickI can‘t reveal too much (it is a secret after all). Recommend reading after Mistborn Era 1 for the full affect. 4/5

It took me a little to get used to Lift‘s narration in this in this shorter novel - which is the length of some normal novels - but once I was into it, I loved it. I‘m so interested to see how everything I‘ve learned in this book fits in with the series as a whole.
There was also a great Cosmere surprise in this one that made me literally gasp. I am having such a good time traveling through Brandon Sanderson‘s universe.
