Margot Lewis is a high school teacher and advice column writer in Cambridge. When she gets a letter from a girl who went missing 20 years ago, just after a girl from her school has disappeared, her life is turned upside down. Although there were a few moments of “oh no, you didn‘t”, overall this was a well-written, satisfying debut.

I‘m glad the author didn‘t go down the usual drawn-out route of ‘unstable woman that no-one believes for most of the book‘. Margot has her problems but she is a mostly sympathetic character. The twist is a little unlikely though. 3⭐️

I enjoyed this book in patches, but compared to Helen Callaghan‘s second book this was rather disappointing. It took me a long time to get through and I prefer a book that I get sucked into. I liked the style of writing, and the length of the chapters was well thought out, but I feel so much was missing. Good but not exceptional.

This was outside my normal genre choices but a good read. Read as a buddy read with a friend. To discuss over lunch Monday. Can‘t wait.

A teenage girl has gone missing. Shortly thereafter, a newspaper advice columnist starts receiving letters from a girl who disappeared in a similar fashion almost 20 years prior. Are they a hoax? Related? Will they lead to the recently missing girl? A fun mystery with a twist halfway through that I did not predict but found believable.

Next up! Dollar Tree find. Does anyone else‘s reading moods change with the seasons? During the summer I‘m absolutely all about thrillers.

A psychological thriller to start which becomes unrealistic and disappointing. After an exciting and gripping first half, I was so upset to see this book go down hill and couldn‘t connect with the remaining half. I‘m sadly giving “Dear Amy” 3 stars.

Gripping from start to finish - hard to put down.

Recent purchase ~ Dear Amy by Helen Callaghan (Kindle edition📱)📚

It took me a long time to finish this book, but I think that was more because of me than because of the book. It has good writing and a really good twist like 65% of the way through! I look forward to more books from Helen Callaghan!

Really enjoyed this. Well written and kept me intrigued.

This kept me up late and had me impatient to get back to! Some of the answers I suspected - but this didn't matter as I loved how all the puzzle pieces came together. This book is two mysteries - the disappearance of young Katie and the letters that get sent to an agony aunt column supposedly from another young girl who went missing almost 20 years ago and is presumed dead. Is it a hoax? Is it real? It certainly kept me turning the pages!

So I had a nap and now I need to finish this book 👀
