#bookmail! Cherie Priest is my author of 2019. I've read a lot of her in the last 6 months. Well....listened. This is the first one I'll read with my eyes.

The first time I read it was at my friends house when we over at her house to study and I had read the first few pages, kinda seemed boring. But later interesting ideas started to pop up more and more I read. I know ya might think it‘s one of those girly books. NOOOOoOoOoOo. It‘s a book containing action, mystery, fiction, and it‘s pretty cool. I have the book now so 👌🏼 #bolducbookworms

I wish I would have read this in print form. Several sections are graphic novel, which I did not know until after the book was over! Bummer 😕
I did like it on audio but could have loved it in print.

I LOVED this book. 💜 I stayed up late finishing it last night. I don‘t think I have ever read a book like it. Friendship, mystery/thriller, and one girl‘s quest to save the 👸🏻 princess aka her best friend. I enjoyed not having any romances to worry about and it was just a purely fun read! Finished this mystery/adventure story today on Sora! I‘m going to have to get the print book sometime to see the graphic novel sections.

With a format that blends a novel with a comic book, I think this one definitely qualifies as a unique read. And then the story itself blurs the lines between reality, the stories we write, and the stories we tell ourselves. I truly loved this book and think everyone should read it. I definitely will be rereading this in the near future.

Don‘t let the word “Princess” convince you that this is only a book for little kids. Libby and May are a bit odd, quirky and best friends and turn to writing a comic—Princess X—to entertain themselves. It all stops when Libby dies in a car accident. Fast forward a few years and May stumbles across a sticker—of Princess X. Then she learns there is a popular webcomic and soon she is convinced her best friend Libby is alive and asking for help. Best friends, a webcomic, the streets & a lot of mystery make for a fun read.

There‘s something liberating about diving deep into the TBR stacks and randomly pulling out a book to read. It‘s fun trying to remember why I selected the book in the first place. In this case, I think it caught my attention because the author also wrote Boneshaker. This one has best friends, a webcomic and a whole lot of mystery. (14/50)

The story was well written. Everything in the book connected and pieced together, which was really excellent. The illustrations even brought the book to life even more! This book is well enjoyed, and i‘d give it an 8/10.

I'm back from vacation, and I barely read anything when I was gone, despite the loaded kindle. In normal circumstances, I probably would have read this one in a day, but it took me two weeks. 😅

This is both a story of grief and loss and a riveting adventure to save someone before they are lost for good. I loved the creative combination of prose and sequential art, where it felt like we were reading both May and Libby's stories simultaneously.

This was unexpectedly fun. Two friends & a shared creation of Princess X. When one dies, the other tries to move on. But she starts finding clues that her friend might be alive. There‘s adventure, loyalty, & trust. But what makes this different is the mixed media. Mostly text, but also part graphic. And what‘s especially refreshing is that this is a story about two girls who are friends and other male friends help but no romance appears anywhere.

My son made his reading list for the Read-a-thon on Saturday. My favorite part is his note on the bottom that says the list is not official. #readathon

First read by this author. I didn‘t have an interest in reading this at all until I found a book trailer for it while getting my Rebeca Caudill titles ready. Just started...hoping to really enjoy it.

Just...no. This started off fun and funky and mysterious and then just bogged itself down in poor pacing, overly convoluted plotting and too much tell and no show. A shame. 😭

My sister recommended this and I read it in two gulps. I haven't enjoyed a YA book this much in who knows how long !

Cherie Priest really needs a better editor. I love her books, but her writing always reads like a first draft badly in need of a red pen. However, despite that, I liked her first foray into YA. I hope she does more as I'm curious to see where her mind will go next. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Getting some reading in while the baby naps and the toddler plays with dad. I'm not a huge fan of Cherie Priest's writing, but I'm enjoying her first foray into YA. Part graphic novel, part mystery.

This book was extremely good. I recommended it to all my friends. Also, I'd like to give you all a tip; If you love a book, don't lend it to anyone. I lent this book to a girl in my art class and I still don't have it back. I WILL get it back though, no matter what... Update: I got it back

First book I found on the shelves that works for #shoesonthecover. Nicely written YA, with comics sections interspersed among the text.

This book is a great YA story. It's got a touching back story, exciting mystery, comics woven into the chapters, and quite a bit of action. I didn't love it because it glossed over a lot of things (to be expected at times in YA), but I know my 7th grade students would be super into it.

Also, this book earns credit in my book for not including a cliche romance angle.

I don't own many pink books...
and this one easily has the best cover (and maybe is also my favourite 🤐 don't tell the other books on the pink shelf)

Awesome Sauce! This hybrid novel/comic which explores the power of friendship, is chock full of adventure, mystery, & hidden clues & was a nonstop blast from beginning to end. In addition to the narrative, there's also the story within the story presented via beautifully rendered purple graphics. So much fun!

I mean, who doesn't love a princess with a Japanese sword who wears a dress and red converse?!

Look at these cute comics! But seriously, that's the last bit of cute. It gets dark, fast. Thrilling.. I ate this book up in a total of maybe five hours. I liked just the whole hunting clues through an online comic with the help of a hacker. Trick and May were pretty stinkin' cute together too! Satisfied with ending.

A somewhat pink cover on this palate cleanser read. My palate cleansers tend to be any number of short middle grade/young adult books and comics I borrow from work. Also, peeking out is the only bookmark I own 😅

I'm not-quite-halfway through this book, and I love it so much. Not gonna lie, when I first started reading it and realized Libby is mixed race like me, I started crying.

The art was beautiful, the story was intriguing, and I loved the characters! It kept me hooked from beginning to end.

Really digging this so far!

I just started this, and it has already pulled me in. Mystery and emotions abound! I love the purple artwork in the graphic novel-like sections.

Thirteen-year-old May is a hoot. And when the intrigue got started, I let it take me away. It took my kids too long to convince me to read this one.

Loved the artwork incorporated in this novel. The plot could have been improved, but overall I really enjoyed it! Great read while I was waiting for my car to be done!
