I'm not sure why I deemed this one a #SeasonalCozies ( @JulieClair ) pick, but I think something about having lectures on different murder stories screamed back-to-school for me.
I really really enjoyed it! I am going to add Book 2 to my #TBR

This was fine. It felt very dated, as all books in the 1990s do. I was a teen then and I am always shocked by the small mindedness in books written at this time. Even though you can see Harris tries not to be.
The murderers are interesting - our killer is recreating historical true crime and his main victims are in a true crime study group. But overall I found the book a bit boring.

"There wasn't anyone in Lawrenceton Bankston and Melanie's age left for them to marry, except each other. Bankston was thirty two, Melanie a year or two older."???
Tell me your story is set in the small town South without telling me you story is set in the small town South. 32 and unmarried!! The horror!!
I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

Quick, easy, cozy mystery from Charlaine Harris. This is the first in the Aurora Teagarden mysteries. It‘s dated, but still an enjoyable read. Aurora is a librarian and member of a club that researches and discusses murder cases. When real murders begin happening in their small town, will they find the perpetrator before the next victim is killed? Quite innocent and tame. I will definitely continue the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 /5 ❤️📚 #serieslove2023
Reading while waiting to pick up my youngest from his summer job. It‘s raining while the sun is out, and the first line of this chapter says it‘s rainy & warm. ☔️#momlife #summerstorm
This is about the coziest murder mystery by Charlaine Harris that she‘s written. Her other series are not cozy at all. That‘s not a good thing or a bad thing, it just is. I enjoyed this book very much. I was surprised when whodunnit was revealed. I think maybe she should have stayed with the mystery genre. Her paranormal series is far less interesting.
This was a super fun, quick, easy read. I enjoyed it and want to continue with this series. I‘ve never seen the tv show, so I know nothing about the series.
Aurora is a tiny librarian in a small town. She‘s part of a murder club, they get together and talk about real live murders. And then people start getting murdered and they‘re trying to pin it on people in the club. And she works with a famous author who just moved to town to solve crimes.
🤣🤣 I had to go look up when this book was published!
$200k for a house and is considered an expensive property. Yes, it‘s set in GA, but still that seems so low in this day. And they mentioned xerox in the first chapter.
Published 1990! I was 1 😬😬
But I‘m enjoying this book so far. Thanks for the person on litsy who recommended it!
This is the only book I have that has what I think might be candy on the cover. That looks like some sort of filled chocolate right? 😂
This was on my TBR for October but I am not going to get to it.
#scarathlon #photochallenge #candy @Linsy
It was a fun quick read. It really builds the characters so the mystery wasn‘t main focus but it is a series and I‘m now in the second book so I don‘t mind that.
Librarians FTW!

Finished my first book for #feastmode last night. Well Met was cute and funny. Real Murders is up next because technically book group is Monday. But since we‘re back to Facebook group for it, I‘m not super worried about finishing by Monday. I‘m also not excited about is, as cozies aren‘t my thing. So I may alternate with some other stuff but I‘ll at least start it!
2 weeks post-op and my doc says I can finally soak in my bath again... Just what I needed before I get back to work tomorrow. #bookandbath
@MaleficentBookDragon thank you so much for my package. The books all sound really good, and the coffee is delicious! (I had to have some even though it's 4... I've been up since 6 after a rough night, and a tough morning)
I am so sad that this round of #CoffeeBeanBookClub is over. Big thanks to @Mommamanzi for organizing ❤ Hopefully there will be another round in the future. I can't wait to dive back into my book, & read everyone else's thoughts
Finished rereading this cozy mystery & now getting Jack snuggles while I try to decide what to read next. Also submitting this for #booked2019 female sleuth prompt.👍🏼
I cannot say how happy I am to actually have time to be reading now that school is out. Taking some time to relax and read while I get my car taken care of.❤️🚗 #schoolsoutforsummer #teachersoflitsy #readingmyanxietyaway #finallyrelaxed #kindlereads
Reading a bit while I wait for laundry to finish & the jello for these pies to start setting. Happy Father‘s Day to all the dads of Litsy!!! #happyfathersday #fathersday #cleaningday #readingwhileiclean #kindlereads
Aaaaand now my back is out so in bed reading on my kindle it is!😅 #ivefallenandicantgetup #kindlereading #old #snugglecat #leonidas #littenkitten #kittensoflitsy #catsoflitsy
3🌟 Mostly I read this to see how close to the Hallmark Murders and Mysteries version this was. (Especially considering who wrote this) Yes, Hallmark did time it down a bit as well as tweaking here and there. I'll probably read the next one but I'm not rushing to the library.
Meh. Slow moving with a lot of set up. I tried to read some of her other series, and while I've like them better, haven't loved them. She may just not be the writer for me. Also there's a character named Robin Crusoe, yeah try not reading it as Robinson Crusoe I dare you.
#litsywalkers with a boring view. Listening to Michelle for 20 mins on the treadmill and then planning to read some of the tagged book on the bike. @TsundokuAleax is the book sleeve crocheted or knitted?
I'm really not felling this book, but I'm thinking it may just be one of those first in a series that spends to much time laying ground work. I dont think I will dnf this one, I may just see where it goes.
#cozyread
This is my way of getting books read. Read the story on different platforms 🤣😂🤣😂
Bahahhahahahah what does being nice have to do with finding a dead body?
I have my work through next week done. Shhhhh dont say anything--- im secretly reading right now.
Let's admit it. Charlaine Harris is never going to write literary gold. For some reason I find myself reading her books in a short amount of time and moving right on to the next one. Please don't read her books expecting something spectacular, but if you want a light, fun read her female characters are definitely your gals.
Photo credit to @EvieBee I loved your review pic!
How did I not know about this series??? And the movie?! I just started this audiobook and I'm almost done! 😲
@Whimsical.Curiosity I know you didn't read the Sookie series, but you need to add both of these series to your TBR!
Day 7 of #agameoffavorites My author today is Charlaine Harris. I love her Aurora Teagarden series and of course her Sookie Stackhouse series. I haven't read all the books in either series, but the ones I have read are so good! She has a blog on her website where she tells what books she is reading or currently finished and then reviews them. It looks like she posts every couple weeks.
@ErinSueG @WhiskeyMistress
Yesterday I went with my son to our local Mystery Authors Festival. It's a free thing our town does each year. This year was amazing as they scored some really fabulous writers. We paid a small fee to be able to go to an early reception. It was totally worth it as we got the goodie bag shown filled with books and other stuff. I also bought fair few... 😊
All in all I enjoyed this book. The characters were fun and it kept me guessing right up until the very end!
Chewie is keeping a watchful eye on me while I read my cozy tonight!! 😻
This is a nice book. I‘ve been watching the Hallmark Mysteries & Movies for years and enjoy them and Audible had the first two on sale. This is an enjoyable listen. Aurora is better in the movies than this book, she seems naive and not good at interpersonal relationships. The mystery itself is cozy and interesting. On to the next. #readwomen #cozymystery
My problem with this book, which I generally liked, is that Charlaine Harris seems to have never been inside a library. Her heroine, Aurora Teagarden, is a librarian and seems to spend all her time shelving books and checking books out. She also works one night a week totally alone — seems to me, even in a small town library, that scenario has too many liability issues to be allowed.
Hoopla recommended this series for me, so I‘ve checked out the first book. Anyone else read it? If so, what did you think?
I just discovered these movies on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and now want to read the series. Anyone read the Aurora Teagarden series? I haven't read a ton of cozy mysteries but enjoyed the ones I have.
I‘m using this one as my cozy mystery for #Booked2018 - it‘s also my first non-Sookie Stackhouse book by Harris and my first #audiobook by her, too! This is a quick and fun read- with some cringe-worthy moments in the romance department- but that may be due to the 1990 publication too. Great to listen while doing some #AudioColoring! @Cinfhen @BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft
I wasn‘t going to buy anymore ebooks for awhile. So I decided to buy a few of this series what were marked down, and the ones in the picture. You know, because they were on sale.
I am calling this a cross between a so-so and a pan. Actually found myself hoping the tv version is better. I was hoping for low-intensity story, but it was so full of comments on other people's appearances and lifestyle choices. And being 28 and unmarried makes her a spinster? 🙄 I know this was written in 1990, but come. On.
Oh my gosh! Thank you so so much @MatildaBaggins 💖💖 Did you knit this yourself? I love the color! It's wonderful and oh so cozy! Love the book choice and the awesome tote! I have never heard of any of these teas but we are a tea drinking house so we will be diving into these soon!
