Listened to Maya Angelou reading her own book in her mesmerizing voice. She speaks from the heart and speaks to the heart. The book has several anecdotes about people she met at various junctures of her life who shaped her journey and from whom she learnt something. Very inspiring listen !
I listened to the beautiful voice of Maya Angelou read these two books for the February #authoramonth challenge. Thank you @Soubhiville for bringing me such joy!
I really enjoyed this collection of letters to Angelou‘s “daughter”. This is a collection that‘ll speak to the daughters of the world much as Angelou intended. #AuthorAMonth
Wow! Powerful and beautiful. Love love love. Fantastic on #audio read by the author. #authoramonth #MayaAngelou @Soubhiville

Finished this one tonight after reading it slowly this month. Loved this collection of essays and poetry.
I love Maya Angelou‘s memoirs and poetry. This collection, published in her later years, is a lovely mix of stories, anecdotes, poems, speeches, and advice and it is lovely. Selections I didn‘t love (Vulgarity) were more than made up for with things like:
‘To respect our ancestors and out of concern for our descendants, we must show ourselves as courteous and courageous well-meaning Americans. Now.‘
A wise, powerful woman.❤️
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I listened to the beautiful voice of Maya Angelou read this book. Although she did not have a biological daughter (she has a beloved son), she tells us that she had many women in her life that she called daughter. One being Oprah Winfrey. It is a collection of stories, poetry and song. Includes a tragic story of her early life that I had read in Mom&Me&Mom. I want a copy of this for my personal collection. She was a Phenomenal Woman! #authoramonth
I listened to the audiobook read by the author. This one has a collection of shorter works, with Angelou telling stories about her past and life lessons she wants her daughter to know. It repeats some of the stories from Mom & Me & Mom. #AuthorAMonth
Current audiobook. #authoramonth #mayaangelou
This was a collection of short essays written and read by the author. Some were better than others, but there were a handful I liked so much that once I finished I listened to them a second time. Those were:
Mother‘s Long View
Morocco
Bob and Betta
Senegal
In The Valley of Humility
This was great on audio if you can find that version! #AuthorAMonth2022
I may have expected too much from this book, but the truth is I didn't like it much. I found it a bit boring at times...
“You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them. Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud. Do not complain. Make every effort to change things you do not like. If you cannot make a change, change the way you have been thinking. You might find a new solution.”
This one seems like a great fit for today! Happy International Women‘s Day.
“Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Loved this book of inspirational essays, read by a remarkable author!
Unpopular opinion that I did not like this as much as I thought I would. It consists of a series of advice written like letters applicable to the reader: life advice, traveling, religion, love and respect, courage, and relationships. It was a quick read ad I enjoyed snippets from her life, her experiences, her relationships with her mother, grandmother, and son. This was on my TBR for a long time and was glad that I bought a copy. #NFNov

*Angelou is speaking about the tagged book—particular lessons she wishes children would absorb.
We‘re both excited by this acquisition! Especially since she talks about her previous careers in Letter to my Daughter. #iknowwhythecagedbirdsings
#SpringIntoReading Day 13: These are only some of the #YellowSpines that I grabbed off my shelves - all of them (except for Wuthering Heights) I have not read yet. This is why I always get a thrill looking at my bookshelves - the promise of so many great reads waiting for me to get to them.
Although I didn‘t love the writing style I did enjoy this book. It has made me want to read more of Maya Angelou‘s life story.
My favourite line is ‘I learned that a friend may be waiting behind a stranger‘s face.‘ 💛
I listened to Maya Angelou read this audiobook while working today, and it was beautiful.Truthful, timeless and so poignant to women of all ages. I've always enjoyed her writing, but there were parts in this that really hit home. 💚
1. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy
2. Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey
3. Joey and Pacey! or Castle and Beckett (until the writing went insane!
4. None

Perfect morning in New Orleans!
I can‘t write unbiased reviews about anything Maya Angelou has ever written, because I just love her so much. I would recommend to everyone who‘s able to listen to her audiobooks read by her. Although she‘s gone from our world, we wisdom and her voice still remain. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I‘m listening to this audiobook and and working on some book charms. But I love Maya Angelou so much, and I‘m such an emotional person that I keep crying off and on so I can‘t see what I‘m doing! 😂
Dr. Angelou may be the most wise and sensible woman to ever live. Her words always inspire and put me in awe.
If you need calmness and stillness in your life, this is the book I recommend. Any Maya Angelou will do, but I picked this one in particular because of the incredible honesty she conveys in here. Maya talks about the mistakes she‘s made in her past, the lessons she was forced to learn from and live with, and basically reassure you as the reader that everything is okay. We‘re women, shit happens, and we‘ll be fine. ❤️ #survivingdecember
#TBRtemptation post 3! Maya Angelou dedicates this book to the daughter she never had but sees all around her. It's about living well and with meaning. It's a memoir, a guidebook, poetry. In short essays, she reveals moments in her tumultuous life which led her to her place among America's top authorial echelon and how to build up compassion and fortitude. She recalls family, friends, and faith. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
I am reading 3 other books at the moment, but I picked this up on a whim after it came through the book drop at work. I started it today and it's a quick read of vignettes relating to Angelou's life. Only 165 pages long and there are blank pages between each vignette. Fully expect to finish this tomorrow.
I haven't read Maya Angelou before but I was wanting to for a long time, and I finally had the chance. Although her writing style didn't attract me, her wisdom and the advice she offers in her short essays, based on her own personal experiences, is valuable and thought provoking. For me it was a quick read offering a lot of food for thought and interesting memories and experiences of Angelou. #mayaangelou #lettertomydaughter
