Pairs well with spiced ale
Library Haul! (Not that I finished the last one mind you...😅)

CW for daughter vampire monster apparently having magic-immobilized her dad and given him bjs and then bitten and drained his blood that way. As well as a fair amount of necrophilia content from the prince. That's what makes me say HECKIN NO KIDS for this book.
This is an intensely disturbing horror story with stunning artwork. 5/5 stars from me. EDIT: EXTREMELY ADULTS ONLY. You'd see why if you opened it to any four pages (honestly had a hard time finding a panel that wasn't NSFW for the pic and CW for very disturbing sexual assaults, incest, etc.) Like I'm all for sex positivity but some of this beats out GoT.😳
I really loved everything about this. The shiptalk, the narrative voice, the way issues were framed. It had a very consistent atmosphere and felt like every sentence was crafted to contribute to it.
The audiobook version is performed SO well and it is beautifully written.💕 There is a lot more to this than I expected!
We went to a "SpookEasy" hidden behind the bookshelf off to the side. I thought I took a picture of the shelf itself but apparently did not. The whole thing was halloween themed and fantastic, and I now think of the bookshelf entrance into a secret room whenever I open a book. :P
This was quite awful, especially given the author's note at the end explicitly stating it's a "both sides" argument.?
Dropped off the face of the earth and:
Got a doctor
Got a new job (with the library!)
Moved into an apartment I love where we can have a pet
Adopted a kitten!
^_^
The inspiration behind this was really interesting and I love all the varying shades of women in this story.
Just wasn't my thing. I found the narrative voice jarring with the setting- but can also see it being a great introduction to fantasy or historical fiction for the intended audience. :)

There was some great stuff in here. I loved it.
"There is power in stories" ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Loving this so far💕
I liked this, definitely adding to my list of "Teen Recs"
It had a lot of great points to make over the course of an engaging story.
Bookhaul from Indie Bookstore Day! So excited for the tagged book, my partner is a huge fan.
Currently reading- appreciated the author's note/trigger warning.
This was wonderful!!!!
Little over halfway through, enjoying it so far.❤️ Growing up in fundie "courtship" culture, romances by authors from more conservative backgrounds is much more relatable to me and I get rather emotional cheering for them to break free while empathizing with the fear of losing family and community that you love very much.
Spread for my Beauty and the Beast rankings, should be fun!
Found this gem and took it for a walk to read in the breezy sunshine. Delightful.
"Can we stop at the library? I have one (1) hold I need to pick up?" ???
The B&N collector's edition of A Conjuring of Light is available to pre-order! They sent me an email about the first two but not this one, so thought I'd share for anyone else who'd been watching their inbox for that notice.
Bookish mail! This was made by @ in.the.reads on instagram- I loved the packaging as well as the woodmark!!
What books do I need to read before Summer?
You know how people joke that 50 Shades would be creepy and gross if the dude was some ugly hick instead of a suit wearing businessman?
This is that story, and I'll never unsee it. It gets points for gorgeous packaging though.
It was sweet. It was fun to read a translated book and I did enjoy the story and characters, but I didn't love it as much as I wanted to.
My March reading summary! I read 13 books and can't begin to pick a favorite. (Illuminae, On the Come Up, Cruel Prince, Woman at Point Zero- how can I choose?!) The one I enjoyed least was Conspiracy of Fools but the author is a great person with a spicy twitter.
Starting my run of Beauty and the Beast retellings- will review and rank them at the end.
"People need to get their Space Opera life right." Started the audiobook this morning, very promising so far (as expected) and I'm loving all the starwars references and carrying a lot of anxiety and hope for brilliant Bri. ❤️
"Green and gold lemon and rosemary, I could smell it through the blood, the smoke, and the ashes: Lena"
Started the "chosen one readathon" yesterday in the Flourish and Blotts group, tagged book was my first draw. ?
Ooh look, the part where my family got hit. (My dad worked for Arthur Andersen, I was in second grade when this down and remember being hauled out for a demonstration of all the kids who would be thrown under the bus if the company couldn't be saved. Welp.
Listening to the audiobook and this meme complements the mood 😹
My February Reads
Too tired to take a decent pic but I gulped this down in one (very long) sitting. The build up seemed slow at first but then things fall into place and it's worth it. This is an important book, and truly well crafted.
Wrapped up my owlcrateathon with this gem! Ripped my heart out. ❤️

4/5, LOVED IT but too tired to write much. It's been a physically hard day of migraines. 🥺
I had a hard time believing this was written by woman, googled the author and found that "Miranda" is a pseudonym and these are in fact written by an old white guy from Mississippi. The protagonist's pay and cost of living made no sense and did not enjoy the serial sexual assaulter who is caught in the act and "encouraged to move on" rather than you know, arrested- tho at least that is realistic.
Loooooooovvvveeeee. Listened to the audiobook, the narrator was one of my favorites ever and it was her first audiobook!
Book haul from the second shop😅😅😅 SO EXCITED to have stumbled across Blackbringer for $2!!!!
Chilling at a local coffeeshop/bookstore...I'm headed to a different one to buy books but felt like I needed to get coffee here first to show them both some love.😅
