April 1992: The officers who were caught on video beating Rodney King are acquitted, and the city erupts in violence. This book describes the events of those six days from the points of view of 17 different characters - mostly Hispanic gang members, but also a black homeless man, a Korean teenager, a Croatian firefighter, and a black law enforcement officer. Graphic, disturbing, and compelling portrait of LA gang life in the 90s.
All those reviews which i ping off into space on good reads have finally paid off, my easter weekend has started with a bang after Ryan Gattis liked my comments from 5 years ago. I am easily pleased!
So in support of my friend Ryan i will recommend what was a great read. ☺
#ipredictariot this multi narrated se lot of interlinking novellas about the LA riots has stuck with me since I read it a few years ago. #ayupaugust @squirrelbrain @Cinfhen
This book was too long, repetitive and just not my kind of thing. With styles that are difficult to follow, characters that I‘ve already forgotten and plot points that happen again and again, I didn‘t like this book. No matter what other reviewers say, it‘s just 1 star for “All Involved” from me.

An uncomfortable, yet compelling read about the LA riots in 1992.
Although well written, it just wasn‘t for me, too real life sad and depressing 😔
Managed another 1 1/2 hours for #25infive so finishing on 21.31 😁
Not a bad book, just not my thing. Bailed after 3 chapters.
#Bookmail from @DeborahSmall arrived today along with my new favourite woodmark of Tormund! This edition of Sleeping Beauties is the Tesco exclusive peacock one. Thank you so much as usual!
A fantastic look at the '92 LA riots, after a jury acquitted 3 police officers, of 'excessive force used to subdue civilian Rodney King'. I knew very little about the LA riots and found this a fascinating intense read of the violence that occurred outside of the actual riots. Specifically the murders between the Chicano gangs. The book takes us through 17 peoples (fictionalised) accounts of the 6 days of violence and chaos. So well done. ❤️
Another day at the pool ❤️📚☀️😎
Here is my #tbrbingo after a couple weeks. My plan right now is to post an update at the end of each month, at the minimum. I'm not flying through it, that's for sure. 😂 I think at least two books a month is a reasonable goal. 🐌 🐌 🐌
This is one of those books that is epic in scope. It's hard to fathom how Gattis was even able to write about the LA riots and the fictional gang members in such a realistic way. This was gritty and violent and it showed a sad world that undoubtedly exists and was also able to show the reader why it exists. I don't feel like I loved this as much as @emilyhaldi or @Cinfhen --it's not an easy read--but I definitely appreciate that it's well done.
End of week update! I finished 3 books on my #tbrbingo board - 2 I LOVED and 1 not so much. I've been reading based on my mood and not focusing on completing a row, but not sure if I can keep that going!
#bookmail thanks to @Balibee146 and @emilyhaldi for these recommendations 📚👍🏼❤️
It's my birthday today, so I had to treat myself to a special birthday drink from Sbux and a #bathandbook before work. This is one of Lush's new jelly bath bombs and I've been saving it. I'm very intrigued by the idea. 🤔 And I wanted to make sure I picked a real winner of a book. Am I the only one that wants to make sure I'm not reading a dud on my birthday? 😂 The thought horrified me yesterday when I was picking a new book. #booknerdproblems
I've seen this come up in my feed twice in the last week, so I'm taking it as a sign that I should read it next.
Oh man, this book! I was hooked from the first chapter reading about the turbulent interwoven narratives of a group of people living through the 1992 LA riots. Thanks for the rec @Cinfhen - this is a top contender for 2017!
1st book down in #tbrbingo ✔️
#IHeardaRumor that this book was good so I snatched it up from bookoutlet real quick, and now it's my first pick from my #tbrbingo ☝🏻
So far, Lupe, aka Payasa, heard a rumor about her brother Ernesto, and now she's after The Joker and his gang after hearing another rumor about some grape gum, and I'm sucked right in to this rumor mill!

Working through my #tbrbingo has taken over my living room floor 📚
I got some truly great hardcovers in my #bookoutlet #bookhaul. Check out the endpapers for these three books!
Loving this, taking slight issue with the fact that books set in the 90s are now considered 'historical fiction', though. I'm a grumpy old woman. #litsyatoz
#LyricalApril Day 14 #UndertheBridge Written as a love song to LosAngeles, the "City of Angles"my book choice shows a dark side of LA. On April 29, 1992 four white police officers were acquitted on all counts of deadly assault and use of excessive force vs Rodney King. The outrage from the trial sparked The LA Riots, when the city was ablaze with looting, fires and criminal activities. This book covers those 6 days of unrest. AMAZING READ!!!
A mostly excellent crime novel set during the LA riots. A single narrative built from unique character POV chapters it was a thought provoking read. Also loved the cover!
#Augustphotochallenge #day26 I came across this book by chance and it has easily earned a top spot on my best read list! Gattis tells 17 interconnected stories over a 6 day period following the acquittal of 4 white police officers in the beating of Rodney King. As LA is on fire and law and order is non existent many LA based gangs see this time as an invitation to settle scores, old & new. Gripping, gritty, shocking and compelling. MUST READ!
I have around 15 books tbr for Netgalley, probably that many iBooks waiting for me (not to mention actual book books), and still, I can't stop buying books! I'm a bookaholic! This ebook is $1.99 today--it has some stellar reviews on Goodreads and some great reviews here, too.
This incredible novel, set during the LA riots, reads like like a TV series. Through the eyes of 17 different characters, Gattis recreates 90's LA with astounding clarity. All Involved is our Thriller of The Month this month and it should not be missed.
Half way through this and it's pretty darned good! Linked vignettes has scorching as the fires of LA that surround them 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Gripping, compulsive, vivid!
I could not put this book down.
The story spans the six days following the Rodney King verdict that set the stage for the LA Riots in 1992.
