Addie LaRue lives in a world where she is forgotten the second she leaves a person's sight. After making a desperate pact 300 years ago to be allowed to live, Addie is cursed to wander the world invisible to everyone around her until one man remembers her. A beautifully crafted story that spans centuries whilst being rooted in the present, which sweeps you along. Truly loved this book and will be recommending it to people for a long time.

Stacey Hall does it again taking a moment in history & bringing it to life in her own imagining of life in the late 1800's in London. Taking inspiration from real life events & Dicken's David Copperfield, Hall has woven a story about fallen women finding friendship, purpose & a future. I found the only known picture or Urania Cottage that Dickens set up with Angela Burdett-Coutts

The Scottish Play is my favourite Shakespeare play, so I am intrigued by a retelling about Lady Macbeth. Ava Reid has done her research & has based the story & language in 11th Century Scotland. Is Lady Macbeth the villain men have painted her to be?

It's Easter Monday so a nice bank holiday for everyone. That means reading, tea and blankets for me 💜
Just started this book and I'm not sure....hasn't grabbed me just yet. This isn't a YA book but the style of writing is a little immature and all the characters seem obsessed with handsome men 🤔 I thought witches would be a little more about the magic 🎩 ✨️ 🪄🧙‍♀️🧹

I have just finished this book, it is wonderfully
heart-wrenching. It transports you to WWI and all the horror of war whilst giving you a golden thread of hope to hold tightly throughout. This story has a realness whilst touching the fantasy veil just enough that you could imagine soldiers telling this tale in the trenches. This story will stay with me, and so will the
characters.

This is a beautiful story of magical creatures and places mixed with coming of age feelings that children work through like grief, loss, friendship and love. Mal and Christopher form the heart of this story whilst magical creatures spin around them flying them to a heart wrenching finale. Young and old will love this tale.

Now that is what a second instalment of a series should be. There is action, intrigue, mystery, and of course, a healthy dose of spicy romantasy to keep you crashing through the chapters. Thank goodness the next book is out in a week or so. 5 ⭐️ read as Maas does it again, another series to become obsessed with.

Not book related, but I wanted to share this stunning sunrise from Langkawi, Malaysia. This was one of my favourite stops. We learnt about the legend of Mahsuri, who cursed the island for 7 generations when they mudered her after being accused of adultery by a chief's wife who was jealous of her beauty. Her ancestors are still alive, and 7 generations have passed. Will be reading more on Mahsuri

This doesn't have the flow & pace of Fourth Wing as we see Violet & Xaden join the revolution. We learn more about the powers, the bonds, & the history of Navarre. There are some great fast-paced scenes that had me flicking through the chapters. Violet definitely has the best dragons & they are the stars.

My only complaint is all the spoilers on social media about the ending. Read the book, share your review, DON'T SHARE SPOILERS!

Guanzon has set up a fantasy world which is easy to step into and get lost in. Her writing style allows you to flit between the equally confused feelings of Talasyn and Alaric whilst tiptoeing through court politics and fragile alliances. An enjoyable read, I will be looking out for the next book in the series.

The nods to the Blood & Ash series are fantastic and you have to read this before reading The War of Two Queens. Sera has been groomed for one task and that is to end a deal which saved the mortal world made hundreds of years ago by her ancestor, she must kill the Primal of Death. But when push comes to shove can she fulfil her duty? The story is weaved between the romance and passion, well balanced. It is a twin of the Blood & Ash but I liked it!

A short but powerful read about the prevalence of violence against women and logical arguments on how to end it. Harriet Johnson uses her experiences and passion to write a compelling narrative about violence against women. I recognised myself in her words not only as a woman, a survivor, and an educator but as a Feminist and advocate. I will be returning to this book time and time again when I feel powerless to remind me to keep fighting 🙌

So it is time to dip into the sister series Flesh and Fire before jumping back into the Blood and Ash series again. I had to make myself this little visual aid, just so I knew which book came next (each line is left to right). I'm trusting the process with this series. There are some infuriatingly agonising rehashing of the same conversations in places, but overall, I'm invested in where this series is going, the world building is very good too

Meshell1313 I absolutely devour every Armentrout book- enjoy!!!! 1y

As Poppy & Casteel solidify their relationship and start to understand what the future could hold for them, lies & betrayals turns it all on it's head. Poppy has a decision to make and to truly become what she is meant to be.
This book was so up & down, action then lulls of talking & Poppy's incessant questions. But...Armentrout has done it again, leaving you with a cliffhanger that means you have to pick up the next book or is it another series?

A 3.5⭐️ read. There is a lot of world building as Poppy learns more about the truth of the Ascended as well as battling her feelings for Casteel. There is a lot of talking & going over the same murmured whispers & it is not until the last quarter the pace picks up & the story starts going somewhere. You can tell the questions Poppy asks will be needed later in the series & the relationship between her and Casteel makes it worth sticking with.

A must-read for fans of ACOTR. After book one, this feels like a great series, as BookTok has claimed. The first half is a little slow as the world & character building is the focus. The last half of the book has a good pace, of course the smut makes an appearance too. I enjoyed this read & will continue with the series.

I loved this audio performance. New York psychiatrist Dr. Eliza Knight begins treating a patient registered as Case 63 who claims to be from the year 2062. What begins as routine therapeutic sessions quickly turns into a story that threatens the boundaries of the possible and the real. Moore and Isaac give fantastic performances which left me compelled to listen to what would happen in their next session. If you have Spotify, worth a listen

Another solid DCI Erika Foster investigation. A brutal murder, mistaken identity & too many suspects. A fast paced investigation with the frustrations of missed evidence. There is a great cast who I've come to really love. Bryndza knows how to shape an investigation, then twist it away, stall it & bring it to a crescendo. I do love an armchair police investigation mystery. I would watch this as a TV series & the stories would easily translate.

Set in The Cloisters of New York this is an atmospheric story of murder, mystery, the occult and academia. There was something missing...not sure whether it was pace, need for more incidents or intrigue but I felt a little deflated with each turning point in the book. There is a lack of drama & the story is delivered at one tone that doesn‘t change as the story progresses. Sadly, it offers a level of dullness like the main character Ann.

JaneyWaneyB The premise of the story is good, Hays has done her homework on the occult, especially tarot, which gives the story some weight. Sadly not a beautiful story as the cover. 2y

Kate & Tristan are hired to investigate a case of a missing child, which leads them down a twisting path out on the moors trying to piece together what happened 11 years ago. A fairly typical dystopian/vampire story, it has a 'have I read this?' vibe. This version has great sound effects, putting you in the moment. Holliday Grainger, as Darcy, creates an arrogant character due to her perfect English accent, making her an unrelatable character. The other characters feel a little more relatable, Liam Cunningham, Himesh Patel, Indira Varma & Bella Ramsey give really good performances.

This is a good series from Bryndza. Kate Marshall is a complicated character who you want to like, but you feel her standoffish nature in every chapter. This prickliness does add to her style of investigation and how she interacts with people and suspects. The story jogs along, and there are enough tib bits for you to start piecing the story together, but little bits leave enough doubt and keep you reading. I'll definitely stick with this series.

In this instalment, X is thrown into the world of Cartels but do they deserve his help or has he just started a war? Another good romp out with Orphan X doing what he does best as the Nowhere Man. Hurwitz writes believable but unbelievable action into his books, which keep you pressing onto the next chapter.

There are certain stories that make you want to plead with the author to write just one more book or triology. There is a big part of you that wants to dive straight back into the Daevabad Trilogy & it is all because of tiny glimpses into the lives past, present & future of the cast of wonderful characters.

A teenager is taken on a journey through labyrinths by a ginger cat called Tiger to save books, but can Rintaro find his way out of the labyrinths? A short story that I enjoyed and had many meanings. Is this a book about grief? Self-discovery? Meaning of life? A coming-of-age tale? Understanding of mental health? I think it is all of these and many more, it all depends on the reader and that is what makes it a good read.
