#StorySettings Day 27: Not necessarily a #Lake but a river - same body of water, I suppose. Lols. Now that I finished the Daevabad Trilogy, I can‘t wait to read this one. Paired with peanut butter parfait for dessert with acai sorbet, salted caramel, summer fruits and mint, and peanut crumbs (which we had prepared on the side, rather than in the parfait itself). 😋

twentieth book of summer. do not read unless you've read the daevabad trilogy--spoilers galore.

When I started this book I had mixed feelings but by the 4th short story I was transported back to Daevabad and the wonderful characters. There are certain stories that make you want to plead with the author to write just one more book or triology. There is a big part of you that wants to dive straight back into the Daevabad Trilogy & it is all because of tiny glimpses into the lives past, present & future of the cast of wonderful characters.

This was fun, but really for fans of the series. We get a series of short stories which were cut from the series. Most weren't as good as what we had in the books, which makes sense for why they were cut. We got some nice background, alternate view points to scenes that did make it in, and a different potential ending that was sweet.

Not a stand alone by any means, only read after Empire of Gold. Lots of spoilers otherwise.

The River of Silver turned out to be the exact mixture of comfort & adventure that I needed! Again, I find myself at a loss for words to adequately describe the immense talent that Chakraborty clearly has in abundance! My favorite part of the book is that it is so immersive just like Chakraborty‘s other books. Chakraborty has a solid place among my favorite authors, & I can‘t wait to read The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi when it comes out!
