Eggs Perfect AND Beautiful 😍 2mo
dabbe @Eggs My fave poem of his (next is “The Bells“). I loved reading it out loud to the students because the rhythm of the poem sounds just like the sea. 💙🌊💙 2mo

Being Poe, this one borders on unhealthy obsession (plus, Annabel is, well, dead), but the cadence has always haunted me, sounding like the waves rolling onto the shore.

TheBookHippie My favorite 👀🤫🖤 10mo

#HalloweenPoetryMatters #Day11 #Ghost A lot of Poe‘s poems are about death, spirits & angels. I highly recommend the album Closed On Account Of Rabies where people like Iggy Pop, Christopher Walken, Marianne Faithful(who reads the above poem)& the best, Jeff Buckley reading Ulalume. With music & sound effects, it‘s gothic, creepy & chilling. And on Spotify or YouTube I believe! #Scarathlon #SpookyGhostClub 6pts

dabbe That album is INCREDIBLE! I used it a lot when teaching Poe to my students. My fave is “The Black Cat“ read by Diamanda Galás. It's a LONG one, and the kids were just memorized through the entire reading. 🧡🎃🧡 1y

DarkMina Cont: For the moon never beams without bringing me drean
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee:
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee:
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea.
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

Ozymandias | Percy Bysshe Shelley

#OnThisDay in 1818, the world met a traveler from an antique land when Percy Bysshe Shelley's Ozymandias was first published. Exploring the hubris of man, the ephemeral nature of political power, and the inevitable fall of tyrants, it remains a pretty timely read, don't ya think? #HistoryGetsLIT

Verity This was the prompt for a terms worth of drama classes in my first year of secondary school. I can‘t remember what the end product was, but it means it is one of the few poems that I recite bits of from memory! 3y

Thank you for all of your condolences. I‘d respond individually, but I‘m just tired and sad today. I‘m lacking the motivation for a creative book photo or writing something book related. Annabel is the third ferret I‘ve had to put down in less than two years and it‘s never an easy thing. She was a wonderful pet and

abookishbutterfly I‘m grateful for the seven years of life we were granted. Her absence is already deeply felt.

So, today I‘ll just leave you with a photo of Annabel watching one of the Insidious movies. 😂 Back in 2015, my TV stopped working, so my daughter and I carried my son‘s very heavy box TV out into the living room and placed it on the carpet so we could watch our movie. Annabel was a bit curious about what was happening on the screen. ❤️
