⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ magical books, lovely characters and diabolical villains! Wow I loved this debut novel. If you love time travel this is a goodie!
Our protagonist, Cassie Andrews, is given a book by a dear friend, that opens doors to any place, and time she can imagine. Unfortunately, super baddies are stealing other magic books, including her‘s.
A book about identity, love, and life‘s challenges. The writing is a bit kludgy, with flashes of brilliance.
“Someone once told me that you can‘t change the past, you can only create the present you live in.” (p. 248)
This read Was thought provoking, intense, had twists and turns and even brought a tear or two! Cassie a lover of books suddenly finds herself in the possession of a magic book, the Book of Doors where any door can become the opening to anywhere in the world. After using the book as a novelty traveling to Paris and Italy at night she and others are suddenly in danger by people who would do anything to get a hold of these books.
Loved it! Action, adventure, magic, and heart - this book had all of these in spades. And the narrator for this #audiobook has quickly become a favorite of mine. Highly recommended!
4.5 ⭐
I had a long drive to vote so this is where I listened to the bulk of the end. There was one spot I was like, mmmmmm, 3/4 of the way through. But so solid otherwise. It had me from the beginning. Liked the characters or not, depending on who. Do you have whiskey?
I almost bailed and don‘t know why but then by page 144 I was in bc there is time travel in this wonderful book! Good characters and the “mean” books and what they could do…😳. I would just want the book of doors and the book of luck!:). Good read.

What a lovely box of goodies. I am so excited about the maple Lindor truffles! The books are fantastic! The candle smells glorious, the tea towels are darling and I am working on a small cross stitch that can go into the cute pumpkin frame. Thank you so much @Meshell1313 Everything is perfect!
Thank you @Avanders and @Chrissyreadit for hosting the premiere fall swap! 🍁🧡🍁
My #hauntedshelf team #flerken tbr has options and bingo boards built-in😜
October's #Bookspin is all about buddy reads and ongoing challenges, and I've created 2 lists for #readyourebooks / #readyourkindle in honor of all the spooky books I've collected in years past. #castthedie is for library loans. Overambitious? Yes. Overexcited? Oh, yes. But man do I like both making lists and having options for mood reading.
For my #hyggehourreadathon #hyggehour today, a bubble bath, my fave soda, coffee scented candle (amaze), and The Book of Doors (#reallifebookgroup).
It took me a while to get into it, and I still phase out sometimes, but overall a good read. 📖🚪✨
Also spotlighting Barnes‘s new $5 cafe special — which of course I bought. 🤭😎
Happy Sunday and Hygge Reading Hour all!

I started this one today! It was recommended on a facebook group. Anyone read it?! 💙 💫 🤍
Magic, time travel, a little gore that came out of nowhere, and overall fantastic writing!!! I enjoyed every bit of this book (ok minus the gore but it made the villain as scary as she needed to be). A battle of good vs evil with vivid descriptions and a likable cast of characters. If you loved Addie LaRue, you‘ll love Cassie! Book #80 in 2024
I love the premise, but the author doesn‘t have the knack of writing women. The protagonist is wooden. I can‘t fall into a story when I‘m constantly critiquing it at the same time.
Loved it 👍🏻 great plot and wanted to see how it all ended.
Bk16 of my ongoing #BookMail is this gorgeous edition. NYC, bookseller Cassie Andrews is given a gift by a fave customer, a book full of strange writings & drawings. In front is a handwritten message to Cassie telling her this is the Book of Doors & that any door is every door. It gives who possess it extraordinary powers. Cassie & her bf Izzy are swept away by what it can do, but it‘s not the only magical book & dangerous people want what she has.
Happy Friday, littens! 🩵📚🩵
I'm totally obsessed with this cover and page edges! 🥰 #goldsboro #goldsborobooks
DNFing at 300 pages because of the absolutely unnecessarily graphic depictions of violence.
Seriously. I can‘t believe how much buzz this book has and NO ONE seems to be talking about the particularly graphic gun violence.
Spoiler-free
"A debut novel full of magic, adventure, and romance, [...] for readers of The Midnight Library, The Invisible Life of Addie Larue, The Night Circus" - I don't agree. It's not whimsical and I'd go so far and say it's more Sci-Fi than Fantasy. Think The Starless Sea meets Tenet with a hint of Piranesi.
I read this in one sitting. I wanted to know whether the author stumbled at any point, because there are ⬇️
Valentine's dinner last night was at my favorite restaurant and of course I got chicken hibachi! 😋💕 It was sooooo yummy! I just started this book a couple days ago and I'm already hooked! Has anyone else been reading it?
I‘m likely an outlier on this book which I thought was ok but a story I likely won‘t remember. The premise is fantastic—magical books, people who collect them, & those that will kill to possess them—& the mystery, adventure, danger & twists are all the ingredients for a great story. And yet, I found myself ambivalent about the characters & the story. In fairness, this may be a me not the book issue. I think a lot of readers will love this one.

Was a bit worried when the blurb mentioned 2 of my favorite books (The Night Circus/The Invisible Life of Addie Larue), but The Book of Doors delivered!
I'm still thinking about this book even though I finished a couple weeks ago. The storyline twisted & turned, and toward the end, I couldn't believe how everything was weaving together. A completely captivating read-4.5 stars!
Thanks to William Morrow & NetGalley for the ARC for my honest review.
How could I forget the wonderful arc I finished last night 😨the book 📖 of doors 🚪 absolutely loved it 🥰 a mixture of discovery of witches and raiders of the lost ark , a hunt for magical books 📚 a real scary villain and wonderful characters who save the day and the books 🫢 can‘t believe it‘s a debut fanflipingtastic !
Last read of January and going out with a bang 💥 what a great 👍 book 📖
Received this as an ARC thanks 🙏 #netgalleyarc and wow 🤩 it‘s blowing me away a fantastic read ! Galloping plot can‘t believe it‘s a debut ! Would make an excellent 👌 tv 📺 series. Compared to a discovery of witches 🧙♀️ but with books 📕 and omg 😨 a real baddie I am scared 😱 of “the woman” highly recommend it - published on 15 February in Uk 🇬🇧
Deep into the ARC of this fabulous story. It‘s out in February so look for it. If you loved Mr. Penumbra‘s 24 Hour Bookstore or just enjoy books about books, you will enjoy this. Warning though - there‘s some disturbing cruelty and sociopathic behavior described in some detail.
Thank you #WilliamMorrow and #NetGalley for providing this #ARC Advance Reading Copy. Expected publication date is February 13, 2024.
