Saw the musical last night. So good! I love Tudor history so this was fun.

Today I spent approximately 13 hours in a tractor disking ahead of Dad planting soybeans. A good portion of that time was also spent listening to this great book. I have done other reading and learning on this topic, so I‘m not sure I learned much new information. Yet, it was an incredibly well put together summary of the lives of the six women that became wives of HenryVIII, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Divorced, Beheaded, Died , Divorced, Beheaded, Survived.
I really enjoyed this!
I liked how instead of each part is a biography of a wife, it's the wives coming into the story.
Of course I loved this book. I love the Tudor‘s. It‘s a must read for anyone who already loves the history or wants to learn.
Work was awful, so I decided to remind myself that there is at least one reason to work at a bookstore. (Please be respectful to the people working customer assistance positions. We may not be doctors or nurses or anything else that sounds super important, but we try our hardest.)#bookhaul
If you‘re #Tudorobsessed like I am, definitely consider reading this one!! It took me about a month to read it and I loved every word. This is nonfiction but it was just as compelling as even the most thrilling fiction story. I‘m certain having some prior knowledge of Henry VIII and his wives helped me enjoy it to the fullest. I really feel like I got to know them over the course of these 600 pages. #chunkster
Just over halfway thru and Anne Boleyn has just been killed. Two wives down, and around half of the book left to tell of the other four.
I‘m LOVING the way Alison Weir wrote this nonfiction account. It reads so easily and I can see myself reading more of her fiction AND nonfiction in the future. #Tudorobsessed
I am loving this nonfiction book more than any other I can remember reading, probably because I am Tudor-obsessed.
I‘ve made it to the marriage of Henry VIII to Catherine of Aragon!! #chunkster
I'm starting to really enjoy biographies, and this one has had me intrigued for a while. Finally got a copy to read!
So I may have started reading a biography and accidentally really got into it?? Is there a help group I can attend? 😂😂

I would love to see this musical as I know most of the words to the songs! And also I was introduced to it by someone on here so it's special for me that way as well 😘

Today's book question: What time frame do you enjoy reading about? If you don't like NF, history or historical fiction, is there a time frame you prefer? Like modern day, 1950s, 1930s? Please repost with a book you enjoyed from that time frame!
I love reading anything about Henry VIII and really enjoyed the tagged book 🤴
Finished the book days before seeing SIX in Chicago on the 20th. Great to have background into the lives of the women that inspired the musical. The show was so spirited, fun, and clever and the talent of the six “ex-wives” was incredible. So glad I got to see it!
This was a heavy duty one, but it's one of my favorite time periods. I have a soft spot the the Tudors.
Henry and Anne looked ‘like dogs falling out of a window‘, so dismayed they were by the news. 🐕🤔
She was rational enough in love to realise that Henry was in many ways immature, and sensible enough not to let him know it.
Divorced, beheaded, died. Divorced, beheaded, survived. Going to see the musical Six in Chicago in a month, so my interest in the real six has been perked. Now to learn about the real women behind the show!
I couldn‘t put this book down for good without giving Henry VIII‘s other three wives their due. In the end I think I admire Anne of Cleves the most. She had the good sense to accept the comparatively fine offer of a divorce from Henry. None of them lived long, though. 👇
390 pages in, and Henry‘s first three wives are dead because of his insane drive to have a son. As ever, the ironies are that science has taught us that the male parent is responsible for the sex of his children; and it would be his daughter who became the most famous monarch in English history. (Did someone say “karma”?)
This book is so good.. I appreciate the obvious research for historical accuracy..
I am now on his second marriage to Anne boleyn... wow what a series of events this created.. this is a second book I have read on the same story with a different approach but it is all interesting to me .. not sure how historically accurate it is but I still find it interesting
Currently reading this!! I love 16th century era
I went to my happy place today : Barnes and Nobles and picked this up!!! I‘m so excited to crack it open!!!
I just wanted to thank @Insightsintobooks and @Eyelit for their #kindlitsy generosity! Unfortunately I did already own the books but it will not go to waste. I don't use Litsy as others appear to, my record keeping is done on Goodreads. I've subsequently removed any books I don't own from my Litsy shelf. I don't have the hours needed to add all wishes into this app so my list is short now. 🤷♀️ Thanks again you two, definitely appreciated!
This is all @Linsy 's fault. But who am I kidding? Anytime I can sing my history, I'm game. If I can go it to the retro feels of the spice girls, well, it's on. Wasn't a big fan of he actual spice girls, but this is just fun.

“History‘s about to get overthrown!” — Six
I‘ve recently been obsessed with Six — a musical about Henry VIII‘s wives — and rereading the book that taught me to love historical non-fiction. Unfortunately, my husband, does not share my enthusiasm. To be fair, I have been singing it a lot (and loudly) and trying to explain the hilarious lyrics while I relearn details about the Tudor queens. 👑

#RoadTripping with Husband is at an end. But look what happened along the way! Excited!
Almost a month into 2018 and only now picking up a book. Watched Cate Blanchet's Elizabeth the other day and caught a yearning for some Elizabethan period reading. Haven't read any Alison Weir so let's see how this goes :)
Just when my dear niece told me that she is interested in Henry VIII and his wives, a Litsy friend ( @erzascarletbookgasm ) wrote a post on this book! Since my niece is visiting next weekend, I ordered immediately and plan to put on her nightstand. #bookmail #encouragingreading
This sounds interesting!

As a girl, I was fascinated by Anne Boleyn. As a woman, I have a lot of respect for Catherine of Aragon. In any case, I think we can all agree that Henry VIII was a serial practitioner of #taintedlove #junetunz
#characters2017 Here's someone who definitely wanted to be #kingoftheworld! Kind of reminds me of someone else....
This was a wonderful book. A great thing to read before Netflixing the Tudors. It was a very good summary of the time and not so dense that a general audience would find it daunting.
I absolutely loved this book, guys 🏰👑 I finished it a few months back -- I really want to read more of Alison Weir's books! Have any of you read this or her other books?
I just recently posted about this book and it's a Goodreads deal- available on kindle, nook, and Apple iBooks in case anyone is interested!
#lyricalapril I bought this book a while back because it reminded me of my mom. Decades ago my mom and I watched a PBS series on the six wives of HenryVIII. Each week was another wife. We ate pizza and snuggled on the couch and it is one of my favorite memories of my mom. 💕💕💕#royals
#feistyfeb #boughtonvacation I only recently started the habit of looking for an interesting book while on vacation so here some from London, Greece, Paris and Italy
I like my #shelfie to be cluttered and packed with everything book related! These are my living room book shelves. ❤📚#riotgrams @bookriot
I missed yesterday's rainbow challenge, so I combined it with women writers today. Not pictured: setting up the stack again after my cat knocked it over. #womenauthors #somethingforsept #septphotochallenge
I do not do #impulsebuys - I suck at picking and ran out of shelf space a long time ago. This is the only book I recall being an #impulsebuy. Many, many years ago I bought it at an airport - and it started a life time of fascination with Tudors and the history writing of Alison Weir. A great purchase! It has been well worn since, and I have been recommending it to everyone!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 5 A wonderful read. While it took me longer than I expected, I enjoyed it immensely, and it was well worth the wait . Definitely going to buy my own copy 😊
Post Crossfit workout breakfast : 1 sweet potato, onions, red bell pepper, avocado, and 1 gluten free blueberry muffin paired with TSWHVIII. I love that in the #LitsyCommunity it is perfectly normal to read while partaking in a meal #KindredSpirits
I am unable to put this book down! While still finishing up Katherine of Aragon's part, I already believe Alison Weir is a brilliant historical writer. If anyone has any reading suggestions of their favorite book(s) by Weir , let me know in the comments!
I have heard so many good words regarding Alison Weir, and The Six Wives of Henry the VIII. When I was seven and just beginning to have a love for reading, " the Lives of Kings& Queens of England" became my most favorite nonfiction read, and the most captivating histories of all were that of Henry VIII, his six wives, and his children. #RenaissanceLove #TheTudors
•My #Augustofpages stack. I am confident I can beat last month's 6! • Also I wanted to say thank you to the Litsy community- It is a wonderful place where readers join & encourage one another. I am so thankful there are readers out there who won't put you down for your reading choices, but cheer you on in your goals and accomplishments! This is the best app community experience I have had yet & I thank y'all for it. I raise my tea ☕️ to you all
