American Royals IV: Reign | Katharine McGee
post image

As Teddy stood, and the opening notes of the national anthem reverberated through the throne room, Beatrice realized what it meant.
The reign of America‘s first queen had officially begun, at last.

Though published five years later, this sequel to #TheRoyalWe starts a mere few weeks after the conclusion of the first book. Hiding out in #Wigtown, Bex & Nick try to put the scandal that broke on their royal wedding behind them— but they can‘t stay away forever… Returning to the spotlight, they both work on repairing relationships & their future. Queen Eleanor really steals the show here & I loved her scenes the most! Such a fun duology!

I enjoyed just how the author portrayed the Queen‘s humanity in this book. She was quite likable to me & had me rooting for her! It‘s 1957, & Queen Elizabeth, new at her royal role, suspects someone among her father‘s courtiers intends to sabotage her reign in public.2 bodies are discovered in Chelsea that are possibly linked to her monarchy. She asks an ex-code breaker to help her unravel the truth. #serieslove2025 #4

kspenmoll @Bookwormjillk I have #1 in my TBR but not the others, so I am reading out of order. I got this #4 thru Libby. There is a #5 being published this year. 2mo

This was a little softer and more lightweight than I expected. It was sweet and cozy and all the characters were fun to root for. The mystery doesn‘t really get going until the second half, maybe the last third of the book. The plot is mostly predictable, though she does bring a twist out of nowhere, and the resolution of the mystery doesn‘t quite stand up to scrutiny. But that‘s ok, it‘s not a book to scrutinize. Happy endings for everyone. 👑🖤

Pulled a book from my 🇬🇧 Royals shelf for this prompt. Also pictured, a thank you card/photo from the Prince & Princess of Wales (then the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge) 10th anniversary. In case you didn't know, if you send the Royals a card (Birthday, anniversary, get well, etc), you usually receive a thank you card in return!

Born.A.Reader A large team I've heard. There's people that do nothing but answer mail for the royal family. It must be really neat though! 4mo

If you thought your family was dysfunctional you might want to compare it to this one. I credit Harry‘s ghostwriter, J.R. Moehringer, as well as Harry‘s voice for making this as interesting as it was. It‘s amazing what little a royal knows about the real world once they are pushed out of the clan (even though he seemed to know a lot about how to get by in the military). I‘m glad he wrote this - I‘m glad he could finally tell his side of things.
