I love Mama Cass voice and this was sweet. I listened to her music while I read this.

Mama Cass Elliot was one groovy lady with an amazing voice. Enjoyed learning more about her life in this graphic biography.

As a born and raised prairie-Canadian there are times I wonder what the draw is for living in Southern California. And then there is a day like today! I picked the last roses out of my garden, my camellias are blooming, and now I‘m going to spend some time in the snow with my sweetheart. Life is good! This just can‘t be January.
Another pleasant surprise in the mail today from a fellow Californian. Thanks @UwannaPublishme for the lovely note. I shall be sending my response soon!

The Mamas and the Papas were one of my favorite groups growing up and Cass Elliott had one hell of a voice. #DreamALittleDreamofMe
My little one was sick this weekend and I ended up catching her cold. Thankfully it seems we're on the mend today so she's working on Valentine's while I read this graphic novel about Cass Elliot (a book I found out about thanks to Litsy!)
Hanging library, anyone?
Hubby found this image on Facebook... How awesome would this be?! ðŸ˜
Mama Cass is one of my all time favorites, but I didn‘t necessarily love this graphic novel biography... it was quick and entertaining but I wanted more
Ridiculously tired, but I made it. I made the mistake of watching Love, Simon. It was a great movie and I loved it, but bawling my eyes out wasn‘t what I had planned. Thankfully I had the row to myself so no one noticed.
I‘m somewhere between so-so and a pan on this book. I have mostly positive opinions about the art. I was certainly engrossed in the story and I think it could have been great. Could have been.
Here‘s the thing: IMO, a biography is only useful if it‘s factual, and a biography that isn‘t factual needs to own up to that. Bagieu claims this book is complete and meticulous (it isn‘t) and it‘s the result of a long investigation. Cont‘d ⬇ï¸
Sleepy dogs means there‘s reading getting done. Loving this graphic novel so far! #24in48 #dogsoflitsy
I thought this was an interesting take on Cass Elliot's road to stardom in comic form. Cass aka Ellen always wanted to be a star, and she persevered through the years until she found the right group. At first I didn't like the drawing style but I found it captured the spirit of the story well.
I have an upcoming vacation and other than Parable of Sower by Octavia Butler I don‘t know what other book to take! Or even how many to take!!! Ugh....#howmanybooks #vacation #howmanyistomany
I‘m obsessed with graphic novels right now! I‘m about half way through this one and living it!
Technically this is my work 🙌ðŸ¼ðŸ™ŒðŸ¼ Reading during planning period. Trying to read all I can to get different texts in front of my reluctant readers!
Inspired to post this thanks to @WanderingBookaneer. This is one of my favorite author interaction s. I loved meeting Penelope and hearing her talk about comics. I loved this book. It was beautifully written and illustrated.
Book number seven knocked off my all #comics and #graphicnovel #LRC "Book that is also a song title" as suggested by @StrayCat13
What a beautiful book. I had to immediately listen to some The Mamas and The Papas after finishing it. I love the way the chapters are laid out, and the structure of the story. Def recommend.
I'm ready for #LetsGetGraphicWeeklongMarathon! Just got my last book today, which is the tagged book. I'm also going to be adding these to my #LRC Bingo and #LitsyAtoZ tally too! #LetMeSeeYourStack
The story of The Mamas and the Papas with gorgeous Sixties era illustrations. Lots of fun but some of the facts are altered for storytelling purposes.
Sigh. This book was heartbreakingly sad. Cass was such an interesting person, so incredibly talented yet so insecure. This tells the story of her life up to age 24, when California Dreamin became a hit. Very fascinating, I definitely want to look into some biographies about the group now. They had such a unique sound and their harmonies are right up there with the Beatles. âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸#graphicnovel
Super excited to be diving into my next book from the #geekygraphicnovelswap - been wanting to read this ever since I saw it on NetGalley (was so sad when they turned me down!ðŸ˜). Thank you again my lovely friend! @TricksyTails 🤗â¤ï¸ðŸ¤—â¤ï¸ðŸ¤—#graphicnovel
Part 1 of my #geekygraphicnovelswap haul - I've been wanting to read this gn about Mama Cass for awhile now, definitely was number 1 on my wish list! And she did some sleuthing and got me the only Bob's Burgers comic I haven't read yet. ðŸ”🤓ðŸ”She chose Saga because it's one of her favorites and I can't wait to read it, it looks awesome! The Daryl pen - SIGH 😠- and my very first funko pop of my favorite superhero She-Hulk. I love everything! â¤ï¸ðŸ¤—

I lived in Sonoma, CA for a year and spent time exploring the beautiful towns and vineyards. I'm too sad about the devastation to look through all my photos to find the best one. This is from the front yard of the home I stayed in during that year. Many of the vineyards that I spent time in are now gone. I loved sitting in the lavender fields and groves of grapes. I can't imagine what this loss means for those who have lived there for years.
Ellen Cohen (aka Cass Elliot) seemed to be a ray of light wherever she went. Funny, confident and self-deprecating. Talented to boot! But she was so insecure! I remember watching VH1‘s Behind the Music on The Mamas and the Papas. Drama. Now I need to find a biography to pick up where this one left off. I did follow the author‘s advice and listened to Midnight Voyage. Wow! 🎶🎶🎶 #GraphicNovel
New graphic novel from a recent library haul! #CurrentlyReading #GraphicNovel
I absolutely loved the artwork and they way the story was laid out. It was a fresh and interesting look at a very talented person.
Happy Friday! I'm using my day off to drink all the coffee and read all the library books.
I bought a shirt because......I had to!! And it's for a great cause 😠I can't wait to get it ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜Š

Go check out the podcast All the Books 📚 I loves those girls!!! 👯
An amazing biography of Cass Elliot, from childhood up to the tumultuous foundation of the Mamas & Papas, in comics format. The narrative unfolds via multiple viewpoints of people who knew her. Bagieu's sensitive pencil art captures the many moods of this fabulous woman who was determined to be a star. I read a French edition, but I know it's also been translated into English.
Bob Dylan has a surprise cameo in this biography, auditioning to join the early band Mama Cass was in. (The guy who believes Dylan has no talent is voted out of the band in the very next panel.)
Some parts of this biography of Mama Cass are heartbreaking, even though comics artist Bagieu is subtle about it. The scene where teenaged Cass tells her friend she was popular and a cheerleader in her old school ends with raucous singing, but the final image in that chapter is a doctored photo of herself.
Road trip in this beautiful #California weather. Means lots of reading! #ILoveBeingThePassenger
I went into this with a lot of interest but without high expectations and was FLOORED by how much I loved it! The drama surrounding The Mamas & the Papas is just as juicy as you'd expect, but getting Cass's story is THE BEST. She was so talented and passionate and fought so hard against the haters in the best way she knew how. At first I wasn't thrilled with the art, but by the time I was about halfway through, I even loved that.
Oh what the heck. I've already got three books going right now. Let's just add a fourth!
DNF'd my last read so mixing up my formats. I adored Bagieu's last graphic novel so looking forward to this biography.
Love that I got a copy of this graphic biography of Mama Cass. Am I dating myself to say I was a fan? Just what I needed on a difficult day.
Like Mama Cass's life, this book is over too soon.
Thanks, NetGalley for the ARC!
