I haven‘t been feeling the YA lately, but this was very good. I‘ve already passed the paper copy along to a student who I think will love it.
This month's challenge: how many YA romances can I read in a month? Starting with the tagged book.
I've been slacking a bit on my work reading lately, so I'm trying to make up for that a bit. Next month is middle grade
I gave Nicola Yoon another chance and I‘m glad I did! I liked this one a lot more than The Sun Is Also a Star. It‘s funny because in some ways I found it way more believable, and in other ways it was less believable. But overall, a better fit for me! I would say that the dancing is more of a side story and not the main focus, it‘s more focused on friends and family relationships and bigger questions of life.
What an absolutely glorious surprise @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks ! Thank you so much! I tried to hold out for my birthday but couldn't wait lol. #litsylove
I loved this book! 🥰 The mix of reality and magical is compelling and the use of different communication methods to move the story along was clever. I‘m actually sad I didn‘t read this book sooner!
This YA romance was so emotional. Evie has been down since her parents‘ divorce. After she donated her former favorite romance books, she starts having visions about other people‘s relationships. She decides to try some new things to determine why the visions are happening, and ends up taking ballroom dance lessons. As she gets to know her dance partner X, her perspective on love and life begins to change, and she gives her dad another chance too.
A bittersweet YA novel about love, loss, betrayal and redemption. Beautifully written, the sentences glide off the page like a dance themselves. I finished this in an evening and expect I‘ll think about it for awhile. #JoysifJune #readathon @Andrew65 #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #YA #romantsy #Roll100 @PuddleJumper
Everything came together and I 10/10 recommend it. If you love a book with enemies to lovers, fast-paced, and sad and happy love. Then definitely read this. 5 STARSSS!
A quick read. It was very good. I gave it 4⭐️. I had to take away a start for making me cry. Other than that it was perfect. Yoon has a way of storytelling that captures you right away and keeps you invested. The character development is always spectacular. I can‘t wait to read her next book.
One thing about Nicola Yoon; she is going to suck you in right away. She is the author equivalent of a black hole because as soon as you start reading, everything else ceases to exist.
When her parents‘ marriage ends in a messy divorce, Evie is certain true love never lasts. After a mysterious visit to The Little Free Library, she begins to see visions. In these visions, she can predict how a couple‘s love story will end. Searching for a cure to the visions, she ends up in a dance studio where she meets X. Together, they learn to dance and Evie is forced to question everything she believes. Is love worth the risk?
“Books don‘t work their magic on me anymore.”
Oof, this first-liner made me sad. 😢 #firstlinefridays
I couldn‘t put this book down. It‘s a little supernatural and a little romance and a little bit of a tear jerker at points and I loved it so much. The characters are all so endearing. I can see this so clearly being a movie and I‘m sure it will be since 2 of this author‘s books have been made into movies already. This is just a fun and sweet story about love and taking chances. It‘s a must read.
Evie becomes disillusioned with love after her parents divorce and then she starts seeing couple‘s love stories and their subsequent ends when she sees them kiss. is she forever burdened to see heartbreak or will she learn it‘s more about enjoying the present? who better to show her than her cute new rocker dance partner who always say yes to opportunities? this book was sweet and enjoyable up until it made me sob at work but this is a good book
I‘ve had this on my TBR for a while and I am really glad I received it as one of my Once Upon A Book Club boxes last year! I really enjoyed the book and I loved the gifts that came along with it.
It was alright. I don't know if I'm the most qualified person to review romance books since I'm not that into them, but I thought it was pretty good. It was a quick read and was fairly fast paced.
OMG!!!! This book was amazing!!!! I seriously could not put it down. Such a feel good book.
Hubby says this isn‘t a match but I‘m claiming it as Harbor Blue
#pantonereadchallenge
I thought this was a sweet book. A YA romance with a touch of fantasy. Evie becomes disillusioned with love after the separation of her parents and has to work out for herself - is love really worth the risk? I really enjoyed the dance studio setting (and her instructor Fifi 😊) ⭐⭐⭐.5
Took a break from the holiday reads. I've always been a fan of Nicola Yoon. This one was a bit different, but still good. Bahn Turpin's narration was excellent as usual. 👍

Finished! Pretty entertaining albeit cliche at times. Good choice! Off to its next destination 💃#LMPBC @LiteraryinLawrence @shellleigh33 @sharread
With how busy it‘s been with grad school since I read this, bear with me 📚 this book came to me at the perfect time and place. After reading some amazing books that had been really hard/ read difficult subjects to read, this was just the light-ish book I needed. Not sure why I didn‘t pick it up sooner, but I‘m glad I read it when I did. Finished it in one day!💙
November reads, probably my lightest month all year! Hoping to beat last year‘s Goodreads total 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Just finished and it was pretty good. I liked the premise of this and the idea of seeing peoples love lives doesn‘t really appeal to me personally.
This was fun read if you are looking for@something over the weekend or in a day. I have read other books from this author and her sweet style stays the same. There is one thing in the book I did not agree with is the secret the main character was forced to hold even when the book was coming to a resolve. That small white lie/keeping the secret when she shouldn‘t have is the only troubling part for me. 7.5/10. #ya #WOCLead
#upnext because my current read was getting a little intense, in a catty-women kinda way and it was irritating me lol I know it will get better, but not tonight. #ouabcvip (use BARKINGMADRUN10 for a discount at checkout) finished this on November 1, which is super convenient since it got picked as my #bookspin for November #bookspinbingo @TheAromaofBooks

First, I LOVE this cover! The colors, the illustration *chefs kiss*
As for the story, I ADORED the first 3/4 — sooooo cute & funny with romcom tropes like flirting while playing pool — but the last 1/4 took a turn I wasn‘t expecting and the resolution felt rushed & unsatisfying. I still recommend it because most of the book is ADORABLE, but it didn‘t stick the landing IMO.

Coming your way, @Tattooedteacher ! This was so fun, I can‘t wait to join next year! I got your package, @peanutnine , it was so nice seeing what you both annotated! #LPMBC @suvata #GroupThree
Great #BookSpinBingo month for me! My goal was to tackle some of my #BOTM and #ShelfSubscription and I read 6 BOTM and 2 shelf subscriptions. Got in one nonfiction (my goal is at least one a month) and a couple library books. I read both my #BookSpin and #DoubleSpin and got a bingo! I loved or liked all of them. Not a dud in the bunch. My favs of the month were Last Summer at TheGolden Hotel, Florence Adler Swims Forever, 56 Days. #OctoberStats
Evie becomes discouraged about the idea of love after her parents divorce, then starts having visions of how relationships will end. She goes to the La Brea Dance Studio looking for answers, ends up learning how to dance for a dance competition, and learns a lot about love along the way.
Dang that was a good book. I definitely did not expect that twist toward the end, but I loved it anyway. Plus isn‘t the unexpected what makes things so great? I wish that there was a bit more magic and a more in-depth explanation of witch lady, but overall a great book. 5🌟
My orchid is flowering. So perfect photo op! They are reflecting the orange cover on my iPad, but that means they kinda match the book. Looking forward to this one. #holidayreading #romance #diversity #contemporary
This is the book I picked to read during today's independent reading in my classroom. I really like Nicola Yoon, and so far this one is great!
A teenager who caught her dad cheating, and who‘s parents are now divorced, no longer believes in love. Enter some magical realism so she can see the entire lifespan of a relationship when people kiss, and she‘s even more cynical… but she falls in love anyway.
It‘s cute, it‘s funny, it doesn‘t take itself too seriously. And the characters are wonderful, emotionally balanced, and insightful. Not my favorite genre, but well done
I loved this bittersweet story about love and heartbreak. When Evie‘s parents get divorced, she loses faith in love. But then she meets a stranger who bestows upon her an unusual gift. Soon this encounter leads her to learning to ballroom dance with a handsome stranger named X. But to truly fall in love, Evie needs to find the strength to open herself up to both joy and pain. This month‘s #botm #bookspin left me in (good) tears.
From a YA perspective about friends and romance this book is adorable. But what I really loved was the supporting story about the affair and subsequent marriage of the MC‘s father. I thought it was presented in beautiful way. Sometimes, in those situations, no one is the a**hole, and that‘s important to understand.
Look what I just got on the mail!!! I‘m so excited!! 😃🙃 *doing a happy dance* 💃

There is something so magical about Nicola Yoon novels. This is her third book and it had the same beautiful messages about life and love with wonderful characters. This did break my heart a little and I would actually of love a sequel for Evie. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Finished my #LMPBC pick for the month and I enjoyed it! I'll be sending it out to you @Zoe-h later this week ☺️
