I've re-read this a few times since I first read it in college. I'm intrigued by how I look at it differently as I age. Actually, I'm about due for another re-read. 😉

Starting yard work and enjoying the sunshine while listening to this long audiobook.
I love Margaret Atwood ❤ This is a retelling of the feminist variety. The main characters are so very well drawn that you feel like you know them or you want to. 4.5 ⭐s
Greatly enjoyed reading this! The book was a bit long; however, I never got bored. The writing is phenomenal. The writing makes it feel as if you are watching the story unfold right in front of you. I love the great uses of metaphors and similes. There are also many good points on feminism. I found the story to be unique and engaging. This was my 3rd Margaret Atwood book and I look forward to reading more of them!
Margaret Atwood is a master story teller and this novel is no exception in her mastery. It is a twist on the Grimm's Fairytale The Robber Bridegroom. The story concerns four women. The women had troubled backgrounds and poor taste in men and that thread brought me down for much of the story. I did enjoy the last third of the book more than the beginning. While the ending does bring it all together, it was not what I was looking for or expected.
Finished this novel from Atwood‘s backlog few days ago. About how three friends lives are changed after an old college classmate steals each of their husbands/boyfriends away from them. Not one of Atwood‘s best, but an enjoyable read.
I like any of the other three covers better than the one I have, bottom left. #brides #FebruaryFeels @Eggs

@Nute would you like to play?
Sent this one back to the library, abandoned at about 1/3 of the way through. I hate giving up on this one , but I just couldn't get into it, and there are so many things I really really want to be reading right now! #lifestooshort
July is almost over, do you still have time to read your #AuthorAMonth Margaret Atwood book? So far @ValerieAndBooks is in the lead for # read with two this month. I‘m going to tag those who I‘ve recorded finished books for here in the tag field, and others who expressed interest but I haven‘t seen reviews for yet in the comments.
Reminder that there will be a prize box for whoever reads the most overall in mid December. 😊📚
My favorite Atwood so far! The manipulative Zenia wreaks havoc in the lives and relationships of three other women (they all knew each other initially in college). Zenia opens up their psychological wounds (some readers may have triggers) and adds more.
This story will stay with me for a long time.
Thanks @Soubhiville for the #authoramonth challenge which got this one out of my TBR. Now I may have a book hangover for a while!

91° with heat index of 95°. Hot!! I‘m finishing this up under the umbrella (instead of laying in the sun) when I‘m not in the pool! So good!!

Was up early this morning unable to go back to sleep, so I started The Robber Bride when I went downstairs. Thought the shadows from where I sat looked cool.

I did not realize until I did some research for this prompt that Margaret Atwood is from #Canada. To date, I have only read The Handmaid‘s Tale, but I definitely want to read so much more by Atwood and I have three of her books, including this one, waiting for my attention. #letsflyjuly @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620
Oh. My. Goodness @Avanders you freaking nailed it! I lost track of how many times I said “wow” lol. Also, you are a Tetris wizard lol because I have no clue how you got all that to fit in the box 😂 But seriously, literally everything I love was in this box. I don‘t even know which book I want to read first. And that sloth mermaid pin! How on earth did you find that?! And did you make that bag?! It‘s adorable! Thank you SO, SO MUCH!! #SSGP
It‘s a little bit of a slow starter, but stick with it and it will have you on tenterhooks, as Roz‘s mother would say. The women were all powerful, each in her own way. And likewise vulnerable. No really decent men. Boyce was witty at first but soon became an annoying caricature. But that was OK because this is a story of women, and their inner selves were more important than their outer relationships. Zenia was the mirror of those selves, ⬇️
“he thinks Tony is a weirdo and Charisma is s nut. That‘s how he neutralizes them.” This book is really good, but there‘s not one decent man in it!
Starting my day with Ms. Atwood. There‘s a fragile but #happymarriage, at least in the beginning. #currentlyreading #jazzyjune @Eggs
The beginning was too repetitive, the middle was exactly what I wanted it to be and the end was too rushed. And still I couldn‘t wait to pick it up each day. Thank you again @BookHermit
Had a lovely afternoon yesterday watching my littles splash and play while I lounged and read
I finally read this Atwood to fill a prompt ,so glad I did.Her characters,Rox,Charis ,& Tony women who met in college are very different but have stayed friends over the years.Atwood details their lives so deeply the reader feels they know them. The mercurial Zenia has betrayed them all at one time or another. It fills the fairy tale retelling for the #Booked2019 prompt.A wonderful read about friendship ,betrayal,w/ insights re:the human condition
#Booked2019 Glad to say I finally finished #winter .I love this challenge, it gets me to try new books and authors ,also find new ways to integrate mountain TBR into the mix. 1. Female Detective:Blindsighted 2.Fairy Tale Retelling:Robber Bride 3.Reminds you of your happy place, NYC.:The Unpossessed 4.Related to a podcast: Welcome to Night Vale 5.Set in Ireland/Irish Author:Light a Penny Candle 6.New to you Author:One for the Money
Atwood and wine ,another wild Saturday night!🙂
I loved this book so much. It delivers tons of truth about being a girl, a woman, a daughter, a partner, a mother - all within an absorbing story/history of three friends (each of whom I adored) and their supervillain of a shared frenemy. Typically delicious Atwood writing, including plenty of dark humor. ❤️
Roz, Tony and Charis share their hatred, anger towards the fourth woman - Zenia. She is beautiful, charismatic, smart, ruthless, evil and she use them shamelessly. Very readable, well paced, intense story, good characterization with interesting narrative voices ... but I have some minor complaints about the way Atwood brings to the end some backstories.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

@BookHermit This package is amazing and so generous! ❤️😘❤️ Thank you for all the thought you put into it! The fun socks make me excited to get dressed - that‘s a big deal for me on a snowy day. I can‘t wait to dive into The Robber Bride and am thrilled to start on Alice as soon as I press Done. Xo #happilyeverafter @Chrissyreadit
#booked2019 #winter 1. female detective-Blindsided 2.Fairy Tale Retelling-Robber Bride 3.Happy place( NYC)-The Unpossessed 4.Related to a podcast-Welcome To Night Vale 5. Here‘s hoping more folks join in, can‘t wait to see other people‘s picks for this challenge!
Currently reading and, as expected, something quotable on every page. Love Atwood‘s writing, biting humor, and observations about the best and worst in all of us.
Oh Atwood. Oh, dear Atwood. Why do you mess with my head this way?? And how do I still love you after??
#QuotsySept18 Day 14: If that isn‘t #Defiant, I don‘t know what is any more. Go, robber bride!
I can‘t believe I‘m going to say this, but this book is getting on my nerves!! Especially Tony. Do we have to hear allllll your inner monologue and your penchant for repeating all words backwards??? And where is your freaking backbone? Might as well stamp “welcome” on her forehead cuz, doormat. The Mighty Atwood is disappointing me.
Exhibit A of why teaching to read is intensely different than reading for fun. Also I have a headache from reading and unpacking another of Atwood‘s similes from a few pages after this. 🤯🤯
