I never saw it coming!!!
Oh Lucy…where is this going. The details are a little boring to me but I‘m intrigued enough to want to know what is going to happen.

What a GREAT read! This is the second book I‘ve read by this author. She is fantastic. Great characters and plot. She‘s good at building a creepy atmosphere too. I couldn‘t put this one down. Lots of secrets and twists that keep you guessing. Highly recommend any book by this author.
I loved how twisty this book was! By the end you can see why everyone wanted to kill the victim 😏
A re-read: lies, secrets, resentments and jealousies, and big revelations - a fabulous crime read that I recommend :)
My 1st Lucy Foley did not disappoint! I foresaw a couple things but the delivery was impeccable, great attention to detail. Massive credit to her for the writing of so many characters harboring dark secrets who are still mostly endearing and not horrible.
Overgrown school boys and the women who love them head out of civilization for a wedding. Secrets from the past haunt the guests, goes kinda Lord of the Flies.
Book 1 for #BigJuneReadathon
I only read one chapter of this book at the beach last week AND managed to get it soggy. 🎬 Two 😅
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ loved this one when I picked it up. The locked room (or island) had me intrigued from the start since I‘ve always loved Christie‘s And then there where none. Shame that I‘ve not enjoyed Lucy Foley‘s latest The Paris Apartment
Absolutely perfect sunny morning by the window. Come on, spring! 🌸 🌹 🌺
Audiobook
Set on a small private island, this story takes place over a 48 hour period. Old friends and family come together to celebrate the wedding of Jules and Will. But everyone has a secret. Excellent suspense building that kept me on the edge of my seat. The voice actors for this audiobook were wonderful.
Well that‘s a few hours I‘ll never get back. The best I can say about reading The Guest List is that I finished it; but only because it was all I had with me during a road trip.
Multiple narrators, time and space adjustments— all writing devices done to death. Mainly, though, I didn‘t like or remotely care about any of the characters. A dismal read. A Reese‘s Book Club pick. I‘ll be reluctant to follow her recommendation again.
I usually have a book on my iPad that I read at night & usually fall asleep after a few pages. I‘ve been “reading” this book for a few months now. I have was determined to finish this weekend & finally finished it up. It was an ok story, kind of dragged on. If I hadn‘t been taking forever to read it I probably would have bailed. Not a great murder mystery. Long back story & then the last 20 pages or so everything happens. So I gave it a so-so.
Exactly the kind of well-written, twisty-turny plot I needed to get me out of a reading slump. The beautiful and foreboding setting looms over you while reading like a dark raincloud about to burst. Parts feel a little contrived but mostly points out how one selfish, corrupt person can destroy so many lives without technically killing anyone.
Back to work tomorrow so my last bk of hols and an apt photo from our last day and a puffin cruise (1 hr ride around island, v windy, no puffins but fun)
I really enjoyed this story set around a wedding on a remote Irish island, with very rich hedonistic bride/groom and guests. Thru different voices tension increases until a climax that allows much speculation on the killer. Definitely a writer I will try again.
Bk 5 for #Awesome August.
I loved this thriller/mystery story! I love how it switches back and forth in time, between the suspense of discovering the crime and the days leading up to the event, revealing things bit by bit. I love how the chapters were from different characters' perspectives, making everything a bit more complicated because of unreliable narrators. There were twists that I saw coming and twists that took me by surprise. I did not want to put it down!
For a book that is so focused on the details, I can‘t believe that Will didn‘t figure out the connection between the sisters before meeting their mom. At some point after meeting and dating, Jules clearly took him back to her place (where he then wound up living)- it was the same exact flat where he had his trysts with Olivia just days before 🤦🏻♀️
Wow, it‘s been a long time, Litsy! 3 years since I last checked in. Hope everyone‘s been well, especially given how trying the last year+ has been. Currently reading Guest List for my book club. Not my typical cup of tea, but let‘s see how it goes!
Great book. Nice little twists. Loved the imagery provided by the author, felt like I was in the story.
Oh my goodness, what a trip. The first two thirds are very “secrets, secrets, everywhere!” and “this island is so menacing.” And then WOOSH all the secrets are out in the last third and boy are they bad. Yikes.
Just finished this and really enjoyed all the twists and turns....and it‘s out 10th Anniversary, hence the beautiful flowers 💜💜💜
Raining here in Florida. Durn. I guess I will stay inside and read 😂🥰📚
I‘ve been in a bit of a reading slump. None of my normal go-to genres were sticking. Not normally one for adult thrillers, this one still kept catching my attention. I loved the idea of the island and the wedding party. I think the premise sort of reminded me of And Then There Were None with the full cast and their secrets. It don‘t know if my slump is thoroughly busted but I highly enjoyed this book! (I felt a special compassion toward Hannah.)
Morning chai and starting The Guest List! I‘ve heard nothing but great things, so I have high hopes for this one! 📚🖤
Update: Loved this one! Perfect spooky setting, interesting characters, and a few great twists and turns that I didn‘t see coming! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I HAVE SO MANY EMOTIONS!! I have never been one to like murder mysteries, but this attracts the romantics, the comedians, the curious, etc. I never wanted to put it down, for there was always a new turn, a new perspective to see the moment from.
This is a good read. There are a lot of POVs, and it is kind of slow at the start but you‘ll be rewarded if you stick with it. Although the ending left something to be desired I‘d still read it again.
This thriller is a fast read with a creepy setting and characters you love to hate. Unfortunately I anticipated the twists. It was fun anyway though and I liked it enough to pick.
A compulsive page turner with many suspects that keeps one guessing until the very end. A cast of characters with secrets to hide, gather on a remote island for a very posh wedding. What could possibly go wrong? While I wasn‘t blown away by the book, I did enjoy this atmospheric murder mystery.
I enjoyed reading the story from multiple perspectives. In the end, just a meh for me.
This was just eh. A lot of the guests had secrets that revolved one specific character, but I was able to guess all of the secrets before then ending. I even got the killer right. I liked the idea of the book, but it didn't live up to the hype around it and there were a couple of loose ends that weren't tied up.
Anyone read this one yet? Just got this email and I‘m fascinated.
I very much enjoyed the hunting party, so had high hopes for the guest list. I enjoyed the chosen characters and their storylines, particularly Hannah and Olivia.
This is the first book that I‘ve read by Lucy Foley and it will definitely not be my last. I was pulled right in to this thriller set on a remote island off the coast of Ireland where a high profile wedding will be held. Many of the guests and the bride and groom have secrets in their past that follow them to the forbidding island. This was a real page turner!
If I wanted to read about boring middle-class people getting drunk, acting like children, and being petty, I would‘ve chosen something else. 84 pages in and not a single hint of mystery. Too bad it‘s my #doublespin #wintergames2020 #merryreaders
I didn‘t expect to like this book as much as I did. I had part of the mystery figured out pretty early on so I thought I‘d get bored. There was a huge build up with character development and the book moved a little slow. Then there was a twist and they never stopped after that! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Outside of my typical genre choice, but still good. A couple “what?!!? 😲” moments which is definitely a perk with a thriller. The full cast audio pulled me in and reminded me of Daisy Jones and the Six where you are immediately immersed.
4⭐️- This book was a November read for my hometown book club, and when it was selected I was super excited. I had previously read ‘The Hunting Party‘ and had high expectation for this book. For the most part it did not disappoint; however, the ending was so anti-climatic that I was just left disappointed and unsatisfied. It was a great story and I‘m glad I read it, but the ending just needed a little more finesse.
@HappilyEverKrafter I‘ll be mailing this out to you tomorrow! #LMPBC #GroupG #Round10

Even though 'The Hunting Party' was slightly disappointing, this book marvellous in its engagement of plot, final climax, revelation of the complexities and also in it's very technique of story telling was absolutely fantastic. It's an incredibly interesting page turner, just the right story you need to read to get out of your reading slump, and it's not to long or dragging. I loved it especially because of the twisty storyline and the characters.
