So when someone plans a barn party in the middle of a cornfield, everyone at school plans to go: all the students, and some creepy ass clowns, too. What starts off as a typical high school party quickly turns into a bloody, gruesome, and truly horrifying night.

4 out of 5 murder clowns for “Clown in a Cornfield”! 🤡🤡🤡🤡
I wanted a fun cheesy horror novel, and that‘s exactly what I got. Creepy atmosphere, amusing characters, and enough twists to surprise me even when I thought I figured it all out.
The story is not the deepest and the attempts at social commentary are a little too clunky to be taken seriously, but even if the story itself won‘t stick with me afterwards, the fun I had reading it will!
He‘d been responsible for dozens of deaths. But not the one he truly wanted. And that was because. . .
If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.

Let‘s see if 2024 is the year I actually finish the books I start and read what I check out from the library. If I finish this one, I‘ll be doing both!
Book 213🎧 3.5⭐️
This was quite the gruesome tale! No wonder people hate clowns 🤡
I‘m not sure of the body count, but it is HIGH!
Bring on part 2!
@RaeLovesToRead has questions, y‘all! ❓
#IHaveQuestions
1. Tagged! It‘s my current read and the only book I‘ve read this year with mystery elements so far. 😳 I‘m about 2/3rds of the way through, and already the book has thrown a twist at me I didn‘t see coming.
2. My vote for next book I‘m going to read changes almost daily, but I‘ve been eyeing my copy of “The Sun Down Motel”.
3. I do especially love mysteries with supernatural elements. 👻
#AutumnPlease #Day31 #Costume A really good YA Horror about teenagers who get slaughtered at a party by people wearing clown costumes. #Scarathlon #SpookyGhostClub 6pts
Reading in a park between movies at the Telluride Horror Show. 🤡 🌞 🏔️
In flight entertainment. The folks who recommended this know me well. The author will be at the Telluride Horror film festival this weekend so it was bumped up on my reading list! 🤡
“Can you see me?” Cole yelled over them. He was standing on the south shore of the reservoir, barefoot and facing the water. He looked like he was thinking, but Janet knew better.

Fun, campy, slasher teen read that I enjoyed immensely as an audiobook.
It's fast-paced and full of jump scares that will keep you entertained. Frendo the clown is one creepy character too, but the real horror is revealed to be something worse than someone in a clown mask.
I'm not sure if I'll read Book 2, mostly because I'm worried it will just be more of the same and this one was done well.
“Philly ate it‘s rot. It was constantly demolishing the old to make way for the new”
A thrilling horror, kept me gripped throughout.

Come join my Horror , YA & Fantasy book club! We are starting Clown 🤡 in a cornfield tomorrow. I just discovered the app Fable and I‘m in book heaven 😂. We will also do polls for future read so you have a choice on what we read next! I need more book friends!!!
I am actually pretty impressed with this book. It was short and “fun” and had me guessing for a bit. Then I found out there‘s another book and had to start listening to that one right after. Don‘t read if squeamish.
I enjoyed this YA #Slasher #Horror well enough. I can see why people are loving this, but personally, I didn‘t connect with any of the characters. Maybe I‘m too old to connect with the teens? Maybe I don‘t hate teens enough to connect with the baddies? IDK, but this was a so-so read for me. There was only one moment that had me cheering. Though bloody, the chill factor is low. 🤷🏽♀️ Maybe slashers just aren‘t the horror sub genre for me? #NSR22
My October #TrappedOnAnIsland didn‘t go too good unfortunately. I did finish Clown In A Cornfield & enjoyed it, but I only got a few chapters of Her Majesty‘s Royal Coven before DNF it(just wasn‘t the right book for now) and I never got to the others. Maybe this month I‘ll do better? Thanks for the choices @julieclair
#OminousOctober #Day24 #Mask My last read was all about a masked evil clown🤡 that crashes a teenage party in a cornfield & starts killing them off as fast as they can. I hate clowns! #Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter 6pts
Day 17 for #ScarathlonDailyPrompts was Scared.
Just like Sam Winchester, I love books, love research, & hate clowns. Especially those mechanical laughing ones - urgh, they give me the creeps. Still to get around to reading this one on my TBR.

With a title like Clown in a Cornfield, you can‘t expect a masterpiece. Right? I went into this looking for quick, campy, bloody entertainment, and that‘s what I got. Cesare knows his slasher tropes and he knows how to infuse a horror story with the right amount of corn (pun intended).
The book has a ton of flaws, which I don‘t have the word count to address here, but I‘m gonna say PICK because it delivers what you‘d expect and I had fun.
Perfect read for those gloomy days (and nights) before Halloween 🎃 After her mom dies, Quinn and her dad move to a small town named Kettle Springs. What is supposed to be a new beginning, turns out to be a nightmare. A Killer Clown is killing all the teenagers in the small town. Quite a slasher - despite being a YA. I loved it!
Plan for today-
Catching up on Litsy after my trip and crazy week at work.
Knitting with this fiery fall colored 🧶while watching slasher movies.
Packing up my swaps.
Reading this teen slasher.
Maybe go out for a little while because it is a beautiful (but very windy) fall day in the Southern Tier of NY state.
Yes, I‘m still lounging in bed with the 🐈⬛ 🐈⬛ though.
This was a fun slasher. I guessed the killer early and there was a bit of on the nose moments, but it was still a fun listen. I could totally see this as a movie. 3.5⭐️

A gorgeously ‘proper‘ slasher story the likes of which you rarely find in books. I love slasher movies and this was so much like a very classic one of those. Was it a bit silly? Absolutely. It was flawless.
One of the clowns had a chainsaw so obviously it was a pick.

2022 Reads Continued
CIAC - That was a blast! Established the characters real quick then got on with the gory bloody fun. A homage to all those 80s Slacker flicks. 🤡🌽🏹🩸
CIAC2FL is in order.
I haven't been reading as much lately, but still getting pages in whenever I can.
This was a fast paced horror story - yes the title is spot on - clown in a cornfield killing teens - it was better than a so-so, but not great. The reveal, while a good twist at the end, fell flat for me. I would recommend to horror fans though, as it was a good story (just not great).

Make a great day everyone 🙂
With fall starting up soon, good time to start reading all the horror and spooky books
This was a reread (or re-listen…I read this as a hardback when it came out and listened to the audiobook this time) and I enjoyed it even more this time! I forgot how good this was and how perfectly it immerses me in spooky season. I‘ve got the sequel waiting on my shelves and I‘m just waiting for October 1st to come around to start. If you‘re looking for an exciting teen slasher this is it! 🌟🌟🌟🌟
In Adam Cesare‘s terrifying young adult debut, Quinn Maybrook finds herself caught in a battle between old and new, tradition and progress—that just may cost her life.

This was very well written and kept a good pace, right up to the bloody and brutal climax.
I loved the heroine and the characters were interesting in general.
I got major Scream vibes. 🔪
This is the first book I‘ve read by this author, I'll be looking into getting more.
I recommend to Slasher fans! 🤡
3rd book read in #JubilantJuly @Andrew65
Well, not much to say, is a slasher. Not so fan of this type of book but prefer the book than some movies. At least in the book there is a motive, revenge? I will like to read the sequel.
Quinn moved to this isolated small town with her father to start a new life after her mother died. But the people of this town didn‘t welcome them. Why? The adults are rude with children and teenagers why? 3⭐️
I was very excited to read this because talk about a marriage made in horror heaven—clowns and cornfields?!? Are you kidding me? Two of the scariest things EVER (both largely because of Sai King) combined? Talk about win-win! Everything was going smoothly; the horror had kicked in and everything was wonderful, bloody chaos, and then the villains and their motivation were revealed—and it was like a big bucket of ice water to my buy-in. ⬇️ Spoiler
WTF?!?!?! This book is so messed up, but I love it! The narrator got a little annoying at times, but this was pretty awesome for a YA slasher.
This was my #doublespin for January. #BookspinBingo
This #creepychristmas package is amazing!
The Michael candle is the best thing I‘ve ever seen. I‘m trying to get my scaredy-cat family to play the game. Thank you so much @shortsarahrose !!!!
❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️ 🔪
Great book. I really like Quinn, the main character. I feel like they gave away the bad guy too early. But even knowing who it was, the book was still interesting. Kettle Springs sounds like a terrible place to live.
I loved this book. I‘ve been struggling to read at times, but this book pulled me in. It was the right mix of fun ridiculousness with some truly freaky situations!

Perfect easy read for spooky season
I really loved this book. I love massacre/slasher movies/books and this just checked all the boxes. Yes I could predict what was going to happen, but the book was so fun that I didn't care. Also it does take the first 130ish pages to get to the good part. But after that it gets so fast paced and intense I couldn't put it down. 4.5/5 stars!
3 🎃🎃🎃
Entertaining suspenseful, but predictable #YoungAdult #horror novel. Crazy FriendOh the Clown.
This is a horror novel in the slasher B-movie tradition, silly and bloody and not much else. It reminds me a bit of a more transparent, less sexy YA version of Security by Gina Wohlsdorf. The audiobook narrator (who also narrated Wilder Girls) did a North Dakota accent for characters born and raised in Missouri, which I found a little confusing (and amusing).
Clown in a Cornfield by Adam Cesare.
Seeking a fresh start, Quinn & her dad move to Kettle Springs—a small town said to have been founded generations earlier by its mascot, a clown called Frendo. But Quinn‘s new town has twisted secrets—secrets that‘ll put everyone‘s life in KS on the line.
With great chemistry among colorful characters, this thrilling slasher is easy to get pulled into. In all, it‘s a brutal blast of bloody mayhem.
#ShortReview
This was a lot more entertaining than I expected!
