pickI enjoyed this more as an #audiobook than I had as a physical book a few years ago. I do hate that #hoopla hasn‘t retroactively added chapters to older titles. Anyway, this definitely reminds me of Melissa Broder‘s personal essay collection So Sad Today, but I think I like Chloe‘s better because she‘s not going for pure shock value as much. Call me a prude...🤷🏻♀️😂
pickChloe is extremely blunt. To a point that will be hated by some— but loved by me. Several times I gasped or laughed out loud depending on if she was sharing family antics or a failing self-diagnosed drug regimen (snorting heroin to cope with robust acne) and continued reading with fervor. She‘s a writer/person I‘d love to take out but whom I‘d never rely on for help moving or planning or, well, anything. Interesting yet mostly #FirstWorldProblems
“When I walk by men, my thought process goes, DON‘T F*CKING LOOK AT ME, I‘M JUST TRYING TO WALK DOWN THE STREET IN A DRESS, DO NOT F*CKING TALK TO ME, WHY AREN‘T YOU LOOKING AT ME, AREN‘T I ATTRACTIVE, UGH, I KNEW IT, MEN THINK I‘M UGLY.”
(I imagine her internally screaming that monologue.)

Just finished I‘ll Tell You in Person by Chloe Caldwell. I would give it a “meh” honestly, which is a bit disappointing. I feel like with essay collections it always goes this way for me: I‘ll find one or two that I like and then a bunch of “meh” ones.
I'm not reading much these days (thanks stupid new president) but Chloe Caldwell keeps me company now and then. And what great company her book is.
When I'm not marching on Washington that is.

so-soThis was an entertaining book of essays. I almost bailed after the first 2, but I'm glad I stuck with it because I enjoyed the rest. I liked her writing and points of view. There were so many songs/authors/books mentioned that I knew nothing about that had me struggling to make connections. I loved the references to ones I knew so I need to broaden my horizons a bit!
