Love Rebecca Ross is books this one was a little slow but I liked it
I discovered this book after following the author due to my love of Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows. Her writing style is descriptive yet concise and elegant. I love her theme of powerful women and the change they can make that seems to follow her work. I highly recommend for any Rebecca Ross fan!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I‘m still on my Rebecca Ross kick! This one was fantastic! I love the way she writes females and her stories always include fierce lady friendships and show the importance of sisterhood. In this world there are passions that females can choose to study and our FMC doesn‘t know the truth behind her birth. There are of course warring kingdoms and, as usual, a hint of magic. A great love story as well. Book 2 here I come! #serieslove2023 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The first in a duology, it is YA fantasy/romance, it involves a plot to overthrow a king, trying to restore the rightful queen, battles, magic and romance. I enjoyed it and am reading to final book now.
This is the third Rebecca Ross book I‘ve read, although it was actually her debut novel. Her world building is magnificent, and I love the friendships and sisterly bonds she portrays between female characters. The story was fast paced and kept me completely engaged, which is why I read it in only two sittings. I‘m looking forward to the sequel!
Let's forget the poorly done characters, the flawed first person perspective the plot holes and the fact it wasn't well written.
And remember the amazing world building inspired by Celtic and French cultures and a twist of magic with a spoonful of romance. A satisfying ending that almost makes you forget everything bad about the story, and the allure that comes with it.
An easy read for between book series, A book to appreciate others greatly.
I loved this book. Yes some plot holes. Could easily have been fleshed out and expanded. Borrows from French and Celtic culture, with its own world building and story that touches on familiar- almost a retelling of multiple influences. Feminist, magical, a little romance, character driven. Will probably be a favorite of the year. #bookspin
This was a great mail day! Both my first Sips Tea Box and my Book Outlet order arrived today! I didn't include a picture of the books for my kids because they snatched them up right away. The Jane Eyre is just because I thought it was pretty. That makes 4 copies of Jane Eyre that I own becauseI thought they were pretty😄. #tea #bookmail #bookoutlet #bookhaul
This debut fantasy novel holds, beauty, culture, war, deceit and magic within its pages. Brienna really doesn't belong anywhere. She is illegitimate, her father's name withheld and her mother dead. Seeking to protect her, her grandfather sends her to a boarding school of sorts where she struggles to find her passion. Little does she know he is beneath her nose all along--and together they will discover who she truly is.
A great story of revenge, loyalty, loss, and self discovery. Brienna is a wonderful and relatable character. The plot thickens with every page, leaving you wanting more and more. By far one of my best reads, I highly recommend this book.
So this showed up as a memory on Facebook.....I may need to reread this one. Yea I am sitting in #ccscoffeehouse reading again, but using a #starbucks gift card as my bookmark which I found in another #library book. The #crazy thing besides what the cards says is that the gift card was my #besties when she read the book!!!! #2018 #booknerd #frienshipgoals #friendswhobecomefamily #LitsyLove
WOW! I am positive I have never read a YA book like this. Briena is incredible. Her journey to finding her identity was captivating. I was completely on Bri side from the beginning. I know there has to be more to come with her.
"Passion is wholehearted devotion; it is fervor and agony; it is temper and zeal."
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was beautifully written. The pacing is slower, more like epic fantasy, though it's YA and romance too. #Q for #AtoZLitsy

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5/5 This book reminded me a little of Game Of Thrones(the tv show) 💙
I'm about to start this book. Hopefully it's as good as the cover is beautiful.
I quite simply loved this book. There is a graceful timelessness to it that captures a beautiful world filled with well-imagined characters and countless sentences I could reread over and over. There is forbidden romance, revenge, war, and scheming, but all done with such a delicate hand that envelopes you in the story as you fall in love with it. Rebecca Ross is a passion of wit who has woven a remarkable debut that is well worth your time.
I liked this ya a lot. Cool world building and an interesting history. I liked the magic. And the love story worked for me. Nothing about it was surprising but I enjoyed the read.
I was in a reading slump but this story got me o it of it! It was such a good fantasy and reminded me a lot of A Discovery Of Witches. I can't wait for the sequel.
Time to start a new book! And I am so super excited for this!
Have you read The Queen's Rising by @beccajross yet?! I LOVED this book; the world building was phenomenal and it was a beautiful story of a young girl trying to find her place in a magickal world. I highly recommend it!
I tried a new Aussie monthly book subscription , with the YA genre, and I got my first package! This is a very cute parcel and the book has my attention ✨😁

“Passion is wholehearted devotion; it is fervor and agony; it is temper and zeal.” This was a pretty good book. It started off a bit slow but still kept my attention. The end picked up but I wish it would have been a bit more. I understand it was supposed to be a stand-alone, so I understand why it ended the way it did. Overall it wasn't bad though. I enjoyed the characters and world that was created.
1. It‘s raining taco‘s (thanks to my 8yr old daughter) warning don‘t listen you‘ll never get it out of your head. 2. The Queen‘s Rising / so far so good and nightingale/ so far so good as well 3. I‘m not really sure because most of my books are on kindle and I don‘t really pay attention to the pages. 4. @jrbaker 5. Now it would be it‘s raining taco‘s because I thought about the song while writing it in #1 thanks @DebBates101 it‘s your fault lol
Really enjoyed this one! Not sure if it is intended to become a series down the line or not but the story is great as a stand alone. Focuses on a girl who is half of one country, half of another trying to find her place and family between the two.

Starting The Queen's Rising. This one caught my attention at the book store.
I‘m DNFing this one. I‘m not finding it really interesting or unique yet.
Beautiful, beautiful book.
Good protagonist, excellent storytelling, very convincing world-building, gradual build-up leading to strong connection with and loyalty towards characters. Even better than expected!! Absolutely recommended.
#Bookmail today was a cheap book from amazon that I hadn‘t heard of but has great reviews, and the Queen‘s Rising because @Laalaleighh loved it so much!
My cat is not happy to be in the car 😂. Sooooo loud I can‘t hear my audiobook 😂. (Don‘t worry the hubs was driving when I took this lol)
Definitely one of the best books I‘ve read so far this year!!!
You guysssss I met Rebecca Ross and got my ARC signed 😊 She‘s the sweetest and I cannot wait for the sequel.
My preorder giveaway and the gorgeous paperback for The Queen‘s Rising 💙. Unfortunately I‘m still not feeling better but I was allowed to leave the kindergarten today 80 minutes earlier. Thank god! I coughed, the children coughed- ugh. Also I‘m always tired??? Hope tomorrow will be better. Has anyone watched the #Oscars last night? I have only seen Dunkirk and Get Out, but I‘m planning to catch up with the rest.

This book is very basic and honestly nothing new in the world of YA fantasy.
The main female is just so mundane and forgetful. Just like the Queen to be. there seemed to be just an overall lack of character development and relationship building. The author told you all about how female student is attracted to (7+ year older teacher) but didn't show you.
Overall pretty predictable and nothing special but I've definitely read worse YA fantasies.

My favorite book of 2018, so far. I can‘t believe this is a debut. Everything about this was wonderful.
But... For the love of all that is holy, DON‘T READ THE FAMILY TREES AT THE BEGINNING OF THE BOOK. JUST DON‘T.
