“There is little point in teaching anything backwards. The whole object of life, Headmistress, is to go forwards.” - Ms. Honey

Not only does this feature a #teacher, but my favorite teacher was the person who introduced me to Roald Dahl as a child.

Introducing this tiny baby Matilda who's apparently so scary my older shy male ran off 😳 😅 #catsoflitsy #kittensoflitsy #kitten #readingbuddy
One of my favorite books when I was younger, where would we be without sweet Matilda and her magical abilities!

@Karisimo
A surprisingly realistic book.

One last book for 2023. It‘s going to satisfy “Read A Children‘s Classic” on a book challenge and will help me hit my goal of reading 30 books on my #unreadbookshelf this year.
#bookspinbingo
I loved this book so much as a kid. Rereading it with my 7-year-old was so much fun. She was so excited by every new twists. There‘s definitely more name calling than I remembered, but I think that just sticks out to me as a mom. Matilda‘s courage is so fantastic.
Matilda and Miss Honey typify #FairAndSquare behavior! They are just, precise, eloquent, honest, highly morally developed, and have keen insight with other humans.

1) My semester starts the day after Labor Day, which is nice for the large number of our students working the tourist season - but it means the last day of exam week is 12/23! End of semester grading will get rough with Christmas prep.
2) Matilda by Roald Dahl is my favorite children's book, and school turns out to be a blessing and a curse for her.
Tagging any other teachers/professors!

Listened to most of this on our drive back from Savannah. I‘ll finish it tomorrow while I do a puzzle. Kate Winslet is an amazing narrator!
Somehow Matilda flew under my radar for my entire life. In typical Dahl fashion dark, but somehow funny, and charming.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Precocious Matilda won me over as expected. There are some really horrible people in this story, but y‘all know Roald Dahl, it‘s darkly funny, clever, and there‘s a fair amount of good, too. Very much enjoyed finally reading this classic!
Never too old to read some Dahl. Grabbing a couple of peach/mango cream ales at our local brewery.

School‘s out! I‘m reading Matilda for the first time and enjoying the hell out of it. My boys are swimming to their hearts‘ content in a pretty chilly pool!

Delightful. I love Matilda and Miss Honey and how they saved each other.
Fantasy-realism? Is that a thing? Cuz that‘s how this book makes me feel. I struggled at first because the characters were so over the top, but it also gave me Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle vibes. Thoroughly enjoyed Matilda‘s revenge and I love the illustrator!

Saw the theater presentation on Friday and chose to check out the source material on our snow day. Obviously, this children‘s book was a delightful one-day read that made me giggle. It abruptly ends, but it is a children‘s book after all. I found the vocabulary to be wonderful. Dahl clearly thought highly of children and their ability to develop a strong language register. Shout out to my nephew for loaning me the book!
a must read for an elementary schooler, i cant believe this was my first time reading a book by mr. dahl! i loved that it showed a somewhat dark reality to childhood, and dahl writes brilliantly in his personal narration. i adored this, even with my constant comparing it to both the film and musical adaptations!
I don't know about "A" Favorite but here are some I love:
? Matilda
? Pride and Prejudice
? The House With the Clock in the Walls
? How the Grinch Stole Christmas
? A Christmas Carol
I'm sure I could add more but these are some of my favorites off the top of my head.

Day 31 of #scarathlondailyprompts is trick. Matilda is the master.

“The books transported her into new worlds and introduced her to amazing people who lived exciting lives. She went on olden-day sailing ships with Joseph Conrad. She went to Africa with Ernest Hemingway and to India with Rudyard Kipling. She travelled all over the world while sitting in her little room in an English village.”
Love this book and Matilda‘s love for books❤️
“So Matilda‘s strong young mind continued to grow, nurtured by the voices of all those authors who had sent their books out into the world like ships on the sea. These books gave Matilda a hopeful and comforting message: You are not alone.”
I appreciate Matilda‘s brilliance, magic and courage. She has the power to triumph over evil like her dad who is notoriously known for selling poor quality second-hand cars and her demon-like headmistress Miss Trunchball. Despite obstacles she may face, she could scare away Miss Trunchball with her power to move chalks straight up and get them write something frightening to her.
Such a cute cover! My sister watched the movie Matilda so often while we were kids that I can probably quote most of the movie, I just never read it till now. It‘s on my little scratch-off 100 Book Bucket List, so when I saw it in a lending library box, I snatched it up!
I finally read a children‘s classic. One of my students gave it to me and told me I was his Ms. Honey. He was such a blessing, I was so lucky to have him in class.

The BEST Roald Dahl imo
Also have to include Mountains of the mind by Robert Macfarlane.

1. Oh gosh so many choices, I'm going to pick a tree house, in the middle of a woodland forest lol
2. Splintered series when the Queen returns
3. Because it is mine and my kids favourite

I read this with my 3 kids. It was so different from the movie. I did need to explain some of the abuse and language to the kids but I think that Miss Trunchbull was so outrageous for them that they couldn‘t imagine a real teacher like that. So, it turned out to be fine. They thought it was funny for me to use “bad” words while reading. They all loved the book with her superpowers in her eyes and the naughty things Matilda did to the mean adults.
My silly kiddos wanted to recreate Matilda‘s book stacks from my shirt. 😍📚
Miss Honey loves books and tea parties and flowers, and being a mom to Matilda 💗

Love this Matilda artwork. So so pretty 😍 a great representation of the reading world and magic #roalddahl #matilda #bookmagic #nature #reading #freedom
Well today was annoying.
Low point : my book trolley tipping over while exiting the lift, books loudly went everywhere and yet no one noticed? 🤨
High point : impressing a kid with my amazing recall for books and authors - tales of a fourth grade nothing-BLUME, drama - TELGEMEIER (I impressed the librarian with that one), first HP book - too easy.

No matter how old I get, this book and movie will always be one I read and watch over and over again. Although the school #Campus is a bit rough at first, Matilda figures out how to navigate it quite well. 😁
