Doctors: A Novel | Erich Segal
post image

This is, in my opinion, Erich Segal's best novel—even better than Love Story, which is the book most people know him by.

Anyway, it's been years since I last read this book (I read it quite a few times when I was younger and wanted to be a medical doctor), but I figured a book about medical school must have mentioned a #cadaver in it somewhere. 😁

Kids aren't born bad and when they bully there's always a story behind it. This powerful picture book looks into the issue of bullying and shows how kindness can change someone's life forever. Based on a true story. An essential read for all kids (and adults).

Salingkit: A 1986 Diary | Cyan Abad-Jugo
post image

Set during Marcos' Martial Law Dictatorship, this book shows a teenager‘s POV of a tumultuous era in Philippine history. While the diary is fictional, the book also includes a non-fiction section that details the events that transpired, which led to the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution. A good read for young Filipinos.

The Graduation | Christopher Pike
post image

I (and most of my friends at that time) read most of Christopher Pike's books in my early teens. He was often compared to R.L. Stine because they wrote in a similar genre, but we liked his books more because, to our young teenage minds, they were more “mature.“ I don't remember any of his books' plots now, but this one came to mind when I saw today's prompt.

This was the last book I posted in my now deleted 2nd account. J'ai lu ce livre parce que j'apprends le français. It‘s a really nice book about an introverted young boy who enjoys solitude inside the foliage of a great big tree. The drawings are really nice and perfectly compliment the story.

⭐⭐

The 1st of 2 books my daughter asked me to read to her tonight. We got it from the publisher's book sale. It was just a so-so for me, though. I know some kids really do have over active imaginations, but it seems as if this book encourages kids to tell lies.

Reading something other than 'chick lit' today because I'm trying to read more books by Filipino authors. I started this a couple of months ago but although it's a short novel, it's quite difficult to read since certain sections give vivid narrations of the atrocities that went on during the Philippines' martial law era several decades back.

Just 4/5⭐ because although I did like this book, it didn't quite draw me in the way The Fault in Our Stars did.
