I‘ve read many Litsy reviews of this book, but I was still expecting more from the hockey player must learn to figure skate plot along with the spicy scenes. It was a fun read, and I loved the team friend group dynamic that frequently had me laughing.

It bothers me somewhat that I borrowed this from a HS girl, but I also appreciate there are some great messages about communication & consent compared to the romance novels I first read as a teen.

My first audiobook of 2025 was a #1001books listen. I liked this one better than the previous book I listened to by this author, but her style is not apparently for me. I felt like this book had somewhat disconnected storylines, left too many things unanswered, and ended rather abruptly. I guess that makes it true to life, but I‘m not sure what I am supposed to take away from it.

lauraisntwilder I love Lorrie Moore, but I think she's better at short stories. 2d
Readerann I agree. I was surprised this made the list. 2d
KadaGul @Daisey, thanks 🤝for reading 📖 and providing a review. I got this book 📕but kept skipping it because I was busy with the library‘s reading 📖challenges. I'm not feeling 🫢too bad about it now. I‘ll get to this author eventually🔜 1d
Daisey @lauraisntwilder This is good to know. I‘m not usually a big fan of short stories, but I‘ve definitely found a few authors where I feel theirs are much better than their long works. 15h

This is a reread for me. I wanted to refresh my memory before I watch the movie adaptation on Passion Flix. Enjoyed it just as much the second time around. 4.5 ⭐

With just a few days to spare, I finished the last state (Arkansas!) for the #ReadAroundTheUSChallenge! Set at University of AK, this follows a visiting professor/writer, an RA with goals for after graduation & a suite of young women with their own problems of varying intensity. Very different from my own college experience, the characters do come to life, but it sort of makes the reader feel like an eavesdropper along with the characters!

Ruthiella Great job! 👏👏👏 6d
BennettBookworm What a beautiful map drawing! 6d
TorieStorieS @Ruthiella Thanks!! Last year I still had a handful of states left, so I was glad to finish this year! 🥳 6d
TorieStorieS @BennettBookworm I can‘t really take credit— I used a stencil! But it‘s a purchase that gets used once a year with great pleasure! I have a world map stencil, too! 😊 6d

God of Malice has a really good story. I thought that I knew what to expect and then I read the first chapter. Killian Carson is different that‘s all I will say. He is a true psychopath. Glyndon King got exactly what she wanted and then some. She enjoyed the ride literally. I never imagined that I would read a story where a psychopath would truly fall in love but there‘s a first time for everything. #godofmalice #rinakent

(2020) There are slow burns, and then there are burns so slow the fire goes out. This is the latter. It probably didn't help that I ear-read this one, and the narrator had some grating verbal tics -- otoh, if I'd tried it in print I think I probably would have bailed.

Others have liked it better -- it was a finalist for an Edgar -- so ymmv.
