"Charlie, we accept the love we think we deserve."
#7Books7Days : We present one book a day for seven days that will remain in our hearts & minds because they touched us, changed us. Nothing else. 📚Day One: Perks of Being a Wallflower Thanks for the tag @Meaw_catlady Wanna join @NeedsMoreBooks @Texreader @KristenDuck
The Perks of Being a Wallflower has been an emotional roller coaster of a reading experience for teens + grown-ups alike for two decades. This week, it comes to my pod! My longtime book friend and fellow freelancer Caitlin Flynn joins me for Episode 55 to discuss the universal appeal of Perks, to consider how many big subjects are too many for one book, to reminisce about AIM, and to unpack Chbosky‘s presentation of trauma. Link to listen in bio!
5 ☆ A coming of age story that gives you all the feels of your teenage youth. Charlie is a “wallflower” who doesn‘t realize his own significance, an observer who puts everyone‘s happiness before his own. He‘s a character many people can resonate with. The writing is amazing + is written as an #epistolary.
Read it if you‘re one of the last few like me that hadn‘t read it yet. #YA #TBR
@Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks 🤗😘
Sometimes, you gotta go back to your favorites to pick you up when you're down
YAY look what I found tucked into a front-hallway drawer.. #jb mail 💌 that surprise just made my day! Thank you for thinking of me @erzascarletbookgasm @BookHippie @CoffeeNBooks @BookNAround @IndoorDame and @jas16!!! ☺️💗
And thank you for my #tbr pick of “Perks”, the sweet bookmark and cards, Misty!!! @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks 🎶😊💞
I wasn‘t sure about this book at first.. Charlie is an odd character.. but he grows on you, like a fungus, lol. I ended up really enjoying it. It was funny but also sweet and sad. And a bonus, that I didn‘t realize before I started it is that I will count for an epistolary novel for #readharderchallenge. I didn‘t have a book chosen for that at all.
There are not enough stars for this book!
⭐️🌟✨💫
WOW this was so good - how did I miss it for so long?!?!
But the perk of being a latecomer 😉 is that there is a Spotify playlist for it.
So,
1. You should read this if like me, you somehow haven‘t. Like, this week. It‘s short - you can do it.
2. When you do, play the playlist. It will enhance your experience exponentially. And you will be infinite ♾
The people in the [old] photographs always seem a lot happier than you are.
No work tomorrow which calls for a late night of reading. My oldest daughter got this for Christmas and highly recommended. Thinking this one may require some popcorn and tissues.

Charlie‘s letters about life, love, family drama, being a teenager, drugs, sex, friends, and everything in between... Who is he writing to? We don‘t know... But all you need is that perfect song on that perfect drive to feel infinite!! 🎼❤️
“And in that moment, I swear we were infinite.”
Just finished this one... ✅P #LitsyAtoZ
“We accept the love we think we deserve.”
Why am I up at 3 am? I have no idea! 🤦🏼♀️ Insomnia sucks!!
I chose this one for “P” for #LitsyAtoZ
Thank you again Brianna @LoverofLit ❤️ Sorry it‘s taken so long for me to get to it!!
What a unique book style for the tagged book! @Victoriahoperose I received the BOOKSSS That you got me. Thank you now I can read your favorite and ones I have been wanting to read. You spoiled me, I didn't deserve all this!! Thank you so much! Now to update everything XD
This has got to be my favorite book of all times. I cried so much and every time i read it I cry again. I love how raw it is and how so many people can connect to it on so many different levels. I remember how disappointing the movie was because it seemed like so much was missing...but as every reader knows that‘s most movies. Would definitely recommend though.

In the perks of being a wallflower you follow the characters as they make there way through finding themselves. This book is truly beautiful in how it shows the teenage brain. One of my all time favourites

I recently accepted a new position as a medical librarian. I‘ll miss working with children but am excited to start this new chapter. Soooo as my I got a new job present I ordered these beautiful bookshelves 😍📚🎉
“Patrick actually used to be popular before Sam bought him some good music.”
Why does this ring so true? 😂
When I saw the list, I had no idea what NSFP meant so I've been waiting for this day for an explanation 😂 I wasn't barred from reading anything as a kid, so that's out.
I thought I'd look up the most challenge/banned books in the US and see which I own. Not included are about 5-6 on my kindle. And I've only read a few of these 🤫

My sister has loaned me this book twice and it‘s been on my bookshelf for at least 5 years. I‘m fairly confident I left this in there the first time I borrowed it. I remember seeing (and hiding from) my boss at this release party. She was dressed like she was going in to work.
pretty okay. the movie has emma watson in it, which is always a plus
I came home to this wonderful surprise!!! Thank you Brianna !!! @LoverofLit I love everything!!! I was just about to buy some more gardening gloves!! And these books are straight from my tbr list!! Can‘t wait to plant the flowers!! I feel like it‘s my birthday!!!! You‘re awesome!! 😘💗❤️🙌🏻

Wow. Just. Wow.
I loved this book so much, and now I see why so many others did too.
5 Stars from me. This may have slipped into, easily, one of my favorite reads.
That one moment when you know you're not a sad story..
YOU ARE ALIVE....
You can't just sit there and put everyone's life ahead of yours and think that counts as love... ❤️
I'm probably going to earn brickbats for this but is there a movie you like better than the book?
I didn't believe such a thing existed until I saw 'The Perks Of Being A Wallflower'. I don't know if it was Emma Watson or how the story was depicted, but the movie was slightly better than the book.
#thereisaidit
I read this book when I was 15 years old, which was right around the time it was published (1999). At the time, I probably only chose to read it because it was published by MTV, lol. Regardless, I ended up loving it and thinking it was my generation‘s Catcher in the Rye. I‘ve not seen the film, nor have I re-read the book since, but I‘m thinking next year I will re-read for the 20th anniversary.
