Book 1 in the New York Times bestselling trilogy, perfect for fans of Battlestar Gallactica and Prometheus!WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO SURVIVE ABOARD A SPACESHIP FUELED BY LIES?Amy is a cryogenically frozen passenger aboard the spaceship Godspeed. She has left her boyfriend, friends--and planet--behind to join her parents as a member of Project Ark Ship. Amy and her parents believe they will wake on a new planet, Centauri-Earth, three hundred years in the future. But fifty years before Godspeed's scheduled landing, cryo chamber 42 is mysteriously unplugged, and Amy is violently woken from her frozen slumber.Someone tried to murder her. Now, Amy is caught inside an enclosed world where nothing makes sense. Godspeed's 2,312 passengers have forfeited all control to Eldest, a tyrannical and frightening leader. And Elder, Eldest's rebellious teenage heir, is both fascinated with Amy and eager to discover whether he has what it takes to lead.Amy desperately wants to trust Elder. But should she put her faith in a boy who has never seen life outside the ship's cold metal walls? All Amy knows is that she and Elder must race to unlock Godspeed's hidden secrets before whoever woke her tries to kill again.

I do not know how I feel about these books. Totally engaging, compelling and page turning but straight up the most terrible version of the future I‘ve ever read in YA sci Fi 😆 I mean, please, do not put me on this ship. I much prefer the peaceful lovely Becky chambers approach 😆 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amy and Elder uncover the lies on board of the ship Godspeed flying to another Earth.

This book held my attention trying to figure out the mystery behind the inner workings of the ship. At times, it was easy to guess what happened and others, it was a surprise.

Amy and her parents are cryogenically frozen passengers on the spaceship Godspeed as it travels to a new planet. She wakes up early and discovers passengers living on the ship to keep it traveling towards it‘s destination. However, things aren‘t as they seem. She must find the truth for everyone to survive. I enjoyed this and will continue the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am a little behind on reviews. This book I read in April for #LMPBC. Godspeed, a space ship, leaves Earth on a 250 year voyage to a new earth like planet. Frozen aboard the ship is Amy, a nonessential, and her parents along with scientists and military personnel. They will start a colony on the new planet. Something is wrong and Amy gets woken up early and she must unravel the lies for all to survive. 4⭐

LibrarianRyan I loved this book. And the first chapter describing cryofreezing. ❤️. I have read book 2 but not yet book 3. 5y
TheSpineView @LibrarianRyan I just started on book 3. I liked book 2 also. 5y

I initially thought twice about reading the book because I was unsure of the sci-fi elements to it. BUT... I was blown away by this book. It had so many twist and turns. It always keeps you guessing to the very last page. I would recommend this book to my friends who love to read books as a getaway. I can't wait to read the next one.

I'd like to say I hate it. I can't.

I'd like to say it drudged on and on and on. It didn't.

I'd like to say the writing was horrible. It wasn't.

It has one of the most horrific plots of a space sci-fi book which works brilliantly or "brilly" as the author writes. For someone who is not a sci-fi fan, I think this book rocks.

Okay all, @jennifer88 challenged me to participate in #7day7covers . Covers I love with no explanation. the no explanation is the hard part.

@Trashcanman this should be on your TBR. It's not as girly as it looks and the first chapter has the best description I have ever read on cryogenic freezing.

This is one of my favorite #flyingundertheradar books. It came out at a time when teen vampires were all the rage and teen space novels were unheard of. I love it for its first chapter on cryo freezing. And the look at life on a spaceship bound for a new world. I still have yet to read book three mainly because I don't want the series to end.

I thought this book was interesting. It was like a slow burning sifi mystery. Even though it was slower I never got bored from it. The twists at the end were good and most of them I didn't see coming. I highly enjoyed the audiobook. I would recommend this, especially those just dipping their toes into science fiction.

#dystopian #YAL number 4 - I love the originality of this plot compared to all the other dystopian YAL I've been reading. More sci fi than the others have been, which made it more intriguing. There was a mystery and were lots of plot twists that kept me engaged, especially in the 2nd half. I will be reading the sequel. #bookseries

I really enjoyed this. I am a big fan of stories with generation ships. The society is fascinating, the mystery was good(I thought I knew what was up but hadn't put all of it together), the characters were interesting. I don't read a lot of YA, but I have been really impressed with the ones that I have read. Things have definitely changed since I was a teen. I hope to get to the rest of this trilogy soon!

@jpmcwisemorgan I thought of this for you tonight. While I love Starflight, it's light and kind of fluffy, like Jupiter Ascending. However if you want more grit, give this one a try. I have not read the last book because I don't want it to end. And when the author describes cryogenic freezing, I swear the room turned colder (1 st chapter). This is more like the movie Passengers. But an interesting take on a trip through space.

I'm pretty sure everyone else I know loves this, but I kept losing track of what was going on while I listened. I love the premise, but just like in The 5th Wave, the alternating male/female perspectives didn't work for me. Plus weird sex culminating in a rape scene....I finally felt like I had permission to say that I wasn't enjoying it.

ferskner @rachelm No, it sounds good though! Adding to TBR 8y

[DELETED] 206653737 I finished it and overall it wasn't bad, not my favorite read by any means. Thinking maybe the audiobook wasn't doing it justice or maybe it was just me who had a hard time with the readers?! I'm thinking about giving the next book in the series a go just to see. 8y
ferskner @bookish22 The readers can definitely make or break an audiobook! I know that I'd be interested when it was the female voice, and immediately tune out when the male voice started. Maybe those parts were heavier on the sci-fi? Hmmm 8y
[DELETED] 206653737 That's for sure! And when the male voice imitated the female voice, cringe! 8y

So, this was an ok book. Readable, often sweet, rarely confusing, had a little social commentary and is setting up a larger story within the trilogy. characters were ok, even though sometimes annoying, not too deep but not too shallow.
All in all, I'm not giving this book a lower score because it's unpretentious and doesn't aim high, while being consistent.
Pick it up when you need a fast, easy read, but not much more than that.

anj-neophyte This book sort of reminds me of the up coming movie Passengers. :) 8y
