Meg teaches her skills as a blacksmith at her grandmother‘s new Creative Arts Center on Biscuit Mountain. Bothered by a rash of annoying and destructive vandalism, the family rallies round to save new business venture - an immersive art school - from an unknown saboteur.
Meanwhile, Grandfather is throwing trash down the mountain to try to attract rare gulls. 🙄

Librarybelle You‘re moving quickly through the series! 11mo
mabell @Librarybelle Yes, I have caught up on quite a few! It‘s nice to have a number still to go though 😄 11mo
tdrosebud I love this series! I think it us the only one that I'm fully caught up on, with the exception of the newest book which I'm saving for December. 11mo
mabell @tdrosebud I love it too! So well-written with fabulous characters. I have quite a few still to go (I took a few years off), but fittingly How the Finch Stole Christmas is next! In case you‘re interested in signed copies, I preorder her books through Mystery Loves Company. It‘s so fun to have them arrive in the mail. 😄 11mo

A weird and charming book about a software developer who becomes a baker after immigrant restaurant owners leave her a very unusual sourdough starter.

I am not typically one for holiday-themed books (except Halloween), but I am so glad I listened to this one! You know a book is good when you find excuses to listen to a book! Cozy mystery with a snarky female lead, a handsome sheriff, and a murder leading up to Christmas. I laughed out loud several times and am now contemplating how quickly I can begin book 2. The voice narration was perfect. #2017 #192025

Bookzombie I have this one on deck this month and was a little iffy. Thanks for the great review. It might be my next listen. 🙂 2y
Librarybelle Thanks, @Bookzombie ! I hope you like it! I really enjoy cozy mysteries as a way to escape from real life, and when the main character has a sense of humor, I devour the book as quickly as I can! 2y

Hunt discovers a small booklet while doing research in a library that covered the first women‘s anti-slavery conference in the US in 1837, less than 10 years before what is known as 1st Women‘s Rights Conference in Seneca Falls, NY. Though Hunt‘s book is less than 250 pages, she covers a lot of territory with the lives of the women from the 1837 conference, and how today‘s feminism can be traced back to these women. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Librarybelle What I like about this is Hunt‘s way of bringing the women‘s own words into her history, with parts of their speeches and letter segments interlaced with the history. Those who read last month‘s #LiteraryCrew book, The Invention of Wings, will recognize the Grimke sisters as two of the women Hunt highlights in her book. Personally, I knew a little bit about the conferences Hunt highlights, but it was good to get a deeper dive.⬇️⬇️⬇️ 2y
Librarybelle One thing of note - Hunt spends a lot of time looking at religion and spirituality and feminism and the ties that religion had with these women (and she relates to as a contemporary feminist). Interesting read for anyone who wishes to know more about early feminism and some pretty courageous women who took a stand against horrible practices. #19822022 #2017 2y

I am a fan of Reese Witherspoon, and I love how she chooses books to create films and TV series. So, my expectations were high for this #murdermystery involving four friends who attended the same boarding school until, they were asked to leave. The girls have grown up, have careers, but still carry a secret.Cinematic feel. I definitely can see it on the big screen. It was just too long, and I was not fond of the characters.#booked2022 #192025 #2017

Librarybelle The characters are definitely not likable in this book! 2y
Cinfhen Great review!! I felt similarly- wanted to love it but couldn‘t get into the characters 2y

I don't think it's a very well written book, but yet, the story is very gripping. The basic theme is motherhood, and the author has taken this subject in a quite unique manner … with changing perspective between wife and husband, with twists, and with slowly revealing the truth hidden behind all the pain.

Cinfhen I read this book when it first came out and it has really stayed with me!!! I don‘t recall the quality of writing but the quality of storytelling was fantastic!! 3y
Cinfhen I guess the title is pretty brilliant😁 3y
Simona @Cinfhen I guess it is … if it stayed with you for so long😘 and I absolutely agree with you about storytelling… sometimes that is enough. 3y

Cinfhen Most books go in and out of my brain space in 30 seconds so it‘s a minor miracle when I can recall a book‘s plot!! Just don‘t ask me any names 😂😂 3y
