The past is over; the future is yet to come. I have only this moment, sparkling like a diamond in my hand and then melting like a snowflake.
I stop thinking and kiss him back.

The novel involves a 16-year-old protagonist who wakes up in a cabin in the woods. She has no recollection of who she is or how she's ended up in the cabin. There are obvious signs that she's been tortured, and she overhears that she is going to be killed.

Hmmm. Lots of action and a little romance in this fast-paced teen mystery. Hard to feel connected to the main character in the first part of the novel because she had amnesia and knew nothing about herself. The story felt incomplete.

More roses for show and tell

Well done YA mystery, Ms Henry!

sudi They look so beautiful ❤ 7y
RadicalReader @Eggs always beautiful sight and scent trifecta of terrific 7y
Kaye How do you get them to bloom and look so healthy ? Every rosebush I‘ve planted has croaked. I‘m not sure what I‘m doing wrong. 7y
Kaye Oh, and do you ever trim them or leave them alone ? 7y
Eggs @sudi @RadicalReader @Kaye Thank you all💫💫 We do trim several xyear BC they grow fast. Both our knockouts and these suffered through freezing temps this year (unusual for central TX) but came back strong because we've also had lots of rain, and they get lots of direct sun. 7y

Whee! What a fun thriller / mystery. Short choppy sentences. Cliffhanger endings at the end of chapters. Serious suspense that just doesn‘t stop. I loved this style of book when I was a kid reading under the covers with a flashlight past bedtime. The one downside was the awful narrator for the audiobook. Sounded Siri-esque. Otherwise, a solid popcorn read.

Cady wakes up to two men talking about killing her. She doesn‘t remember who she is. She doesn‘t remember anything before that moment.

This was a faced pace suspense thriller that has you turning the next page so you can find out what‘s going on.

I loved the story line even though the characters aren‘t deeply developed, they were developed enough for you to care what‘s going to happen to them.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

That-Bookish-Hiker Thanks again to @ReadingRover for the book! I‘m starting on the next April Henry book you sent me. 😁 7y
ReadingRover Omg That was so fast! I saw that you were reading it on Goodreads! That‘s awesome! I‘m so glad you liked it! 7y

A good fast paced thriller. Maybe everything fit too neatly together, but I still enjoyed it. Perfect for this lazy Saturday of #AudioCrocheting.

A girl wakes up in a kidnapped-tortured situation and remembers nothing, not even who she is, and the mystery unfolds quickly. A perfectly acceptable thriller, even if it‘s a little too perfect at the end for my tastes.

I got this on sale on Audible a while back and used it today for my final book for the #readingroadtrip challenge. I read 28 books for 28 states over 3 months to finish in Oregon.😃

LibrarianRyan This has been on my list for a while. Glad you liked it. 7y
ferskner Wow that trip sounds amazing! 7y
sprainedbrain @ferskner Yeah, it would be fun to take it for real, too! This was just reading a book set in each state (or with an author from that state) starting on the east coast and making our way to the west coast. I read lots of good books I probably wouldn‘t have otherwise! 7y

ferskner What a fantastic idea! Maybe when we all retire we can take these trips and meet all the Littens across the country. :) 7y

Overall a good read. Fairly quick listen with a good storyline. However, it's not at the same level as other thrillers/suspense novels I've read lately. It seemed to me that while there was action throughout, too much was held back and crammed into the last 1/4 of the book making it feel like a rushed ending.

I've been spending the last couple of hours going between this audio book and my other (print) book depending on whether I could sit and relax or had to be up and about. 🤓📚🎧 #springcleaningreadathon #deweysreadathon #readathon

JoeStalksBeck I've looked at this several times. How is it? 8y
Read4life @JoeStalksBeck Just finished. Was so-so for me. Not a bad listen. Just not up there with the Lying Game, Two Nights, Right Behind You, etc. Still glad I read it. Another Litten said another of April Henry's books was better. I'll have to check it out. 8y
JoeStalksBeck Thanks! I'll see how it holds up for me!:) 8y

From page one, I could not put this book down. With the protagonist losing her memory, you are constantly questioning and wanting to keep reading. Science, murder, mystery, and action!
