So, of course, I pick chunksters to read as my first books for the #RushAThon Readi g challenge. @DieAReader @Andrew65 @GHABI4ROSES . This is the 1st book of a series and is part of another series. #SeriesLove23 @Andrew65 @Clwojick According to Libby it is almost a chunkster at 560 pages, #ChunksterChallenge2023 @Amiable I also think this book deserve the sandcastle lol, @Clwojick @TheAromaofBooks for the #ISpyBingo August. I like this book.
Update Finished one book, finished 1st book in the Nora Roberts book, started two other books. Overall, read 20 plus chapters in #20in4 Readathon @Andrew65 not bad for a busy weekend with 2 farmers markets and a birthday party 2.5 hours away with no reading time. Thanks, Andrew, for hosting.
#audiopuzzling
Yesterday, I finished Sherlock (1500 pieces) & completed The Capitol (100 pieces) for National Puzzle Day. Today I finished Book Wyrms for International Puzzle Day. 🧩💚📚
Happy Puzzling!
I really hope Ilona Andrews continues Hugh & Elara‘s story. I love this world! 💜
1. Hanging with family
2. Ilona Andrews, Kristen Ashley, Mariana Zapata
3. A Watch and a Protein Bar —-not sure I‘d want to read that 🤨😂

The kids had a day with my in-laws, so I accomplished much #audiocleaning #audiostitching and even a couple #audiowalking excursions! Iona Andrews is one of my favorite writing duos, and this did not disappoint- I wish it had a sequel!
Also, this is my April #bookspin @TheAromaofBooks 😁😁😁😁

This book had a lot of great fight scenes and a steamy romance scene, but I needed to have read the Kate Daniels series before it to fully appreciate the story line. Even though there were parts I missed because of that, I still enjoyed it. Steve West does an excellent job with the audio book narration.
I was really leery about a Hugh book, that started as an April Fool‘s tweet no less, but I should always trust the fabulous twosome that is Ilona Andrews. Her world building is always fantastic, her characters multideminsonal, and the storylines unexpected and original. I‘m looking forward to the next!
Another Ilona Andrews' ebook is on sale. I LOVED this book. I don't think it should be read on its own though. It should be read with the Kate Daniels series.
Wow! Wow! Wow! I finished my FIRST book by Ilona Andrews and I can‘t believe I just found them!
Today‘s library #bookhaul - at least my part. The kiddo‘s is elsewhere and much more impressive.
Need to reread I&M before diving into Magic Triumphs, and I‘ve been wanting to try The Silent Patient and finally found it. That one‘s a #blameitonLitsy pick.
I recently read one of the latest in the Kate Daniels main series, and these two show up to help out. This explains so much actually.
So good! Hugh is an arch villain in the ten or so precious books, and I was skeptical of his recasting as a hero, but it definitely works. Magic warrior with abandonment fears in a marriage-of-convenience with a witch who has unspeakable secrets.
I was skeptical that they could make such an obvious villain into a hero, but I don‘t know why I doubted Ilona Andrews. This book was an amazing and interesting addition to the Kate Daniels universe. You don‘t have to have read the rest of the series, but it does enhance the experience. #romantsy
I love Ilona Andrews‘ Kate Daniels series, so when I stumbled across this one at the library I was ON IT! I am amazed they can make Hugh d‘Ambray a sympathetic character. I loved this whole book and now have to decide if I‘m going to wait for Magic Triumphs in paperback or check it out from the library. Decisions, decision.
All I want to do today is sit down for fifteen minutes to read uninterrupted, and my family and household chores are conspiring against me! Not fair.
Today‘s library #bookhaul - one I‘ve been wanting to read (tagged), two more Lumberjanes to see if it appeals to me enough to finish it, and an impulse pick. Hope I have time to read this week!
I really enjoyed the back and forth banter between Hugh and Elara, their magic, talk bout a power couple 😉 Loved the battles description, reminds me of a modern Conan The Barbarian. Decent read all around.
I had no interest in the redemption arc of a mass murderer from the Kate Daniels series. I really like Ilona Andrews‘s imagination though, so I did finally get the book. It‘s as entertaining as their other work—as long as I can forgive that the protagonist has killed thousands without remorse. What is with this romanticizing of such characters?
I am so pleased with this book! I was worried about how they would reform Hugh, but they did a good job of blending background highlights with believable character development. I was very pleasantly surprised and very happy that they didn‘t just try to make Hugh into a good guy. I love the White Lady and I can‘t wait to learn more about her. A very well balanced book, great new series and I am so excited to read the next one 4.5/5 stars
Ok. I didn‘t want to like this. I wanted to hate Hugh and I still do a little bit. But I also feel sympathy for him and I think this is going to end up being important leading into Magic Triumphs in a few weeks!!
Really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next in the series. However I was not impressed with the cover. The woman looks great but if this is Hugh it looks like he's missing an eye.
Wow! I've seen some of the other reviews for this that say "this isn't Hugh's book." It totally is. Hugh is thrown to the dogs (pun intended) and only finds purpose as a protector. He sets up his defense by approaching Elara. No one quite knows what she is. Only that she has strong magic. Love the back story you get for Hugh and the developing story of him and Elara. Some great links to the Daniels series. I won't give them away.
I can't believe how good this book was, more so, I can't believe how much I love Hugh, I was not expecting that! The book was amazing and as a battle plan is discussed, I actually felt a part of the story! The writing is fantastic... Ilona Andrews is one of my favourite authors... I'm scared to say this but I think I'm liking Hugh more than Kate!!!!
When Elara says: "Oh and his dick is bigger than yours." Ha ha 87% in and Elara is my new Heroine!!!
2nd book done for the #24B4monday #readathon
I loved this spin off of the Kate Daniels series. Though it can be read w/o having read previous books it is best with previous knowledge of this world. More great characters and unexpected twists from the Ilona Andrews writing team. I highly recommend! #fantasy #romantsy
Solid entry from the Ilona Andrews team. Showed a new side to Hugh. Liked how Hugh and Elara were both strong characters, willing to work together to save their people, but never letting their guard down in their own relationship. Helps to have read the Kate Daniels series, just to be familiar with how their world works, though not necessary.
Iron and Magic. Great book that made me like Hugh. Can't wait for more in this series.
Between #Hoopla, #Overdrive, and #Libby, I feel like I have #allthereads 😊📚
Excited to be starting this brand new series!
Wow. Yes! I love dark heroes. Hugh is such an ass. But who wouldn't be after being raised by Roland? Roland dumped him though, and after months of self-pity, Hugh needs to find a place to keep his Iron Dogs safe. Elara Harper needs men to keep her people and castle safe. A perfect union. Except Hugh and Elara hate each other at first sight.
