I pretty much failed at posting here in 2019, but I didn‘t fail at reading.
Stay tuned - one of my goals for the year is to review more books, so I‘m going to try and recap my end of 2019 reads.

Hello, my other basic witches! The best holiday of the year may be over, but if you‘re still nursing your Halloween candy hangover, and not ready to trade your spooky vibes for aggressive Christmas cheer, check out this playlist I made for my #BasicWitchSwap. It‘s been giving me life even while I feel like death.

Wow! Such a delightful assortment in my #BasicWitchSwap! And how funny that we got each other 2 of the same books 😂. Great minds think alike. I love it, @TorieStorieS , and thanks to @Meaw_catlady and @sprainedbrain for organizing.
Rainbow Rowell on Chosen One stories: “J.K Rowling was definitely writing Jesus fanfic.”
#TexasBookFest
Behold! I am not dead, and this #BasicWitchSwap is on its way to @TorieStorieS 🤦🏼♀️!
I have become the worst at all forms of social media, but I‘m getting to be pretty effing strong at the gym.
Also, listening to this audiobook (yaaaas, Benedict Cumberbatch narrating) has me going “Okay, yes, got it, makes sense............... Wait, what? 🤯🤯🤯”
1. Tea all day every day.
2. Both? Mostly fiction though.
3. Dark?
4. All furry creatures.
5. Tarot!
6. Storiessss.
7. Plants!
8. North.
O. M. G. @mreads This box was full of amazing stuff (and it was wrapped so beautifully it was a shame to open everything). The kitsune theme is perfect, and I‘m so excited about everything! Thank you so much!
#StaycationInTimeSwap
Coming in at the eleventh hour, after radio silence all day. I‘d like to thank audiobooks, for making it possible to read while grocery shopping, and Overdrive, for making it possible to read during long Sunday afternoons at the reference desk. Maybe one day I‘ll make it through #24in48 #readathon without accidentally resetting my timer, but don‘t hold your breath.
My fourth book of the day for #24in48 #readathon! I was obsessed with the movie as a kid, but have somehow never read the book.
#24in48 Hour 12 Challenge: I don‘t listen to a ton of audiobooks, but when I do, they‘re non-fiction. I‘ve tried listening to fiction and (with the exception of The Ocean at the End of the Lane, because Neil Gaiman), I just can‘t do it. I‘ve also been a Scribd user for years now, and their audiobook selection is well worth the price.
#24in48 Hour 6 Challenge: Look, I read a lot of SFF. Like, A LOT. It‘s literally my job (#SciFiLibrarian). Picking favorites is impossible. So, here‘s a quick selection of SFF books that A) I loved & own in print, and B) were written by women. If you haven‘t read Murderbot yet, what are you even doing? Vicious is the best, it‘s first on my list of recs for SF haters. Amberlough caught be by surprise when I read it - there may have been tears. ⬇️
Here‘s my tentative stack for #24in48 #readathon - I‘ll be getting a late start today because of life, but I‘m stocked up on quick reads!
Thanks for my #SummerSantaGoesPostal box @Lidia - it‘s perfect! The books are amazing (I‘ve been meaning to read the tagged book for like a year 😂), and the bookmarks are beautiful.
Shout out to Lindsay Buroker for making her fictional library classification system the “ILS.”
#LibrarianJokes
1. Tagged book + The Emperor‘s Edge by Lindsay Buroker + about to start Samantha Irby‘s Meaty on audio.
2. The rest of the Emperor‘s Edge series 🤷🏼♀️.
3. I‘ve forced The Calculating Stars and The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle on anyone who will listen.
#WeekendReads
I‘ve been mostly absent from Litsy for a while now - I got busy at work, and I found a new hobby (#powerlifting), and for awhile I wasn‘t enjoying books the way I usually do. Which was my own fault - I tend to set really ambitious goals for myself (Read all the Hugo/Nebula/Locus Award nominees!) and force myself through them even when it‘s awful. But I‘m back! With a super messy #shelfie for #Riotgrams, because I am a mess.
My procrastinator is showing, but this box will be going out in tomorrow‘s mail! #SummerSantaGoesPostal
Actually finished this weeks ago, but I‘m doing a terrible job at Litsy lately, so🤷🏼♀️.
Anyways, this was a cute ending to a long sci-fi series. I read a lot of reviews criticizing the fact that it‘s essentially a romance (Did you actually read this series, because it‘s hardly the first, see: Shards of Honor, A Civil Campaign, Captain Vorpatril‘s Alliance), or that it retcons a character to be poly (semi-true, but believably done).
#Readathon book three (The last Vorkosigan book!) + dinner. Not ashamed to admit that even though it was pretty clear what was coming, the end of CryoBurn was ROUGH.
On to my #readathon book two - my primary goal for today is to finish the Vorkosigan series (only two books to go!). I have enjoyed the last few more than most of the middle volumes; I like post-Dendarii Miles better as a character, and it was nice to see Ivan finally get to do something other than play simple foil to Miles‘s cunning plots.
How to know if you‘ve chosen the right tea cup for #readathon: a pot of tea is equal to two cups.
#24hourreadathon
A little late to the party, but Moppet and I are ready to #readathon! (Asking me to get up at 7am on a Saturday, even for a day of reading is too much.) Anyways, here‘s my stack (plus the tagged book ready to go on my iPad), kettle‘s on, dogs are fed, let‘s get to reading!
I‘m doing a really bad job of participating in the social parts of #24in48, but I am reading! It‘s just that I‘ve been sick all week, and I feel like disappearing into my blanket fort until I stop coughing up green slime.
Ok, I‘m up, and starting my #24in48.
Hello! It feels like I‘ve been gone forever, but I‘m ready to dive into the #24in48 readathon tomorrow. I‘ve packed my #TBR stack with graphic novels and fast-paced sci-fi (I‘ve also got the last few books in an old favorite urban fantasy series ready to go on my iPad), and I plan to spend the whole day wrapped in blankets, reading and drinking pots of tea!
Thanks for a great #BlindDateBookSwap @TheReadingMermaid ! So many delicious snacks and cute Christmas goodies, plus a couple of books I would never have discovered on my own!
@BookNerd9906 I am so sorry, I think your #blinddatebookswap is going to arrive late! I shipped it out on Tuesday after missing the hand-off to my postman on Monday. It was supposed to arrive on Friday, but according to tracking it was just scanned at my local post office, with expected delivery on Monday ☹️.
Can you spot all the owls? Thanks so much for all of the adorable goodies in this #StuffedStockingSwap, @BeckyRoy - I love everything!
My photography skills are not up to capturing the awesomeness of this #WitchPleaseSwap! Thanks so much @Puredragonstar - I love everything, especially the tea! And I have my own copy of The Wicked Deep, which I debated trying to read before I sent it to you 😹.
@Puredragonstar and @monalyisha - crisis averted! This #WitchPleaseSwap is on its way and should arrive on Monday.
#Readathon #DeweysModernClassics mini challenge break! Since I pretty much exclusively read SFF, I feel like I‘m only qualified to guess at what books might become classics in those genres. While there are several that I‘m reasonably sure of, I feel like The Name of the Wind is almost guaranteed. (Also I love this edition and will take any excuse to post a picture of it.)
Working on my #readathon bingo - do cheese curds count as junk food? I‘m going with yes. Also this series is so much fun; I feel like I‘m finally settling into the Readathon spirit. And it only took 9 hours.
It‘s taken me few hours to find my groove for this #readathon, so I just finished my first book of the day. I didn‘t like this volume as much as the first one, but I will read more comics written by Saladin Ahmed.
Armed with the largest, strongest cup of tea, I‘m ready for this #readathon to begin! (Mostly.)
So no one showed up at our book discussion, but we had a fun time talking books with staff at Interabang Books!
Our #NEABigRead is almost here! (And I still have so much to do 🤷🏼♀️)
Wow!!! Thanks so much @Ddzmini for the incredibly generous #FallingForFallSwap!!! There was so much stuff in there, I couldn‘t possibly fit it all in one picture. I love it all, especially the Lady Trent books - I was going to check them out at work, but now I have my very own set!!!
Thank you so much @Kindredanne for these incredible #ASwapOfIceAndFire goodies! I finally have my very own copy of Game of Thrones. Plus, this fox journal is gorgeous.
