I‘m just a little over halfway thru this doorstop and I‘ve nearly bailed because it doesn‘t always keep my interest (seems a bit repetitive). Do I hang in there???
My chunky bedtime read arrived! @Cathythoughts ♥️
I love to have a big fat novel to look forward to each night.
Book haul today…. And this isn‘t all of them. 🥰 went a bit mad. This copy of Crimson Petal is so nice.
Written in second-person pov at almost 900 pages, I'm hoping I will love this one! This may be my first read from this pov and I actually really really like it so far.
I hated the writing style. I couldn't get past about 20 pages before I had to stop. Not for me.
Tagged book my favourite of the year! Although I did read the majority of it in the December I finished it in January.
Lonesome Dove I never expected to love as much as I did. I rated it four stars at the time but looking back on it I‘ve bumped it up to 5 stars.
Anne Tyler was a new author to me and I‘ll definitely read more of her this year. And for some reason I finished nothing in October 🤷♀️ #readingbracket2022
Happy New Year 🥂💖

So excited about all these books!
Tagged & Jamaica Inn I've already read, but were both 5 🌟, so looking forward to revisiting them.
The Book Eaters & Mexican Gothic were on my radar for 2023 challenges, so they'll probably be my starting books.
Have tried The Sweetness of Water before, but bailed so will try again.
The Shafak was on my radar, have just bought the Sykes & Gordon ⬇️

Quite a huge book, and I‘m often fearful of chunksters, but this was so worth the time. Sugar is an unforgettable character. Very engrossing, and I didn‘t want it to end!

Some red spines for Valentine‘s Day weekend

One of the best books I have ever read. It is a tour de force of both Victorian London and the power play between men and women. The pampered but stifling, suffocating and uneducated conditions women of status are kept in, juxtaposes with the squalor of the slums, abuse, wanton disregard and shame endured by the poorer women.
This is a book about sex, lust and the power men yield over women and the women's submission, consensual or not.

835 pages and I feel like I need a sequel 😩 I thought the ending was done well but I am left wanting to know what happened to them all! It‘s one of the most immersive novels I‘ve read; when I wasn‘t reading it I was thinking about it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
#20in4 #newyearspecial
I‘ve not done a readathon in a while but I like the relaxed approach of this one #20in4 #newyearspecial
My goals are to finish this book (I‘m halfway - about 400 pages left), finish my current audiobook (about 2 hours left) and make a good dent in my current non-fiction read.
I feel like I‘ve got my reading mojo back and I‘m in the mood for a chunkster 🤍

1. 3rd person, absolutely ♥️
2. 2nd person 😂
3. I did it, #thecrimsonpetalandthewhite has the 2nd person in some of its part 😂
It took me a month to finish it xD
I loved the writing styles, but not the characters except Henry >< That's why it took me so long to read it all, I guess.
It's not a bad book but I didn't emphatize much with the poor creatures in it >
1. Me and my dog... She loves kisses 😂😂❤❤
2. No racist. No homophobic. No misogynist. No sticky. I love to be in company, but I also need time for myself
3. D O L L S 😱😱
4. Great Britain. I always wanted to vist Scotland since I was a kid then I have developed a strong interest in London and Ireland too.

Agnes Rackham is #maddening! I can't stand her 😫
She is completely insane and her thoughts are too trivial and irrational.

#ChunksterChallenge2021
I finally picked this up recently after putting aside for two months. (Thanks @Amiable for the constant nudge). What a delicious, enjoyable read it prove to be! Reading this was like watching a movie, the way Faber leads us through Victorian London, from the slums to the elegant parlours. Fantastic depictions of the era with a cast of vivid characters which are not easily forgotten. I was invested in the story and ⬇️

I'm not sure I'll going to stay up reading, probably I'll just fall asleep while I'm doing it 😫
I really hope your day was better than mine ❤

Another chunkster down! Way to go, @soubhiville!
#ChunksterChallenge2021
Wow! What a novel! Thanks @Amiable for cheering on #ChunksterChallenge2021. I‘m not sure when I would have pulled this off my shelf otherwise.
I loved this story. It‘s about Sugar, a prostitute in London in the 1870‘s, and her meeting with a man who becomes enraptured with her. Their lives become more and more entangled, and we spend a year seeing both their lives change beyond return.
Who has read this and also others by Faber?
#WeeklyForecast @Cinfhen
I‘m really hoping I can finish up The Crimson Petal and the White this week. #ChunksterChallenge2021
I‘ve been seeing great reviews for Winter Counts, and I‘ll be reading it for my #SouthDakota book for #readingthestates2021.
Broken Wheel is light but on the sad side, and it‘s my #Iowa book for the states challenge. I‘ll probably finish it today or tomorrow.
Have a great reading week friends!
So, I am a huge #gilmoregirls fan. The other day I was watching an episode, and Emily is reading the tagged book. It‘s one of my favorite scenes in the series. I saw it at a used bookstore yesterday and couldn‘t resist picking it up!
I‘m finishing up my #24in48 with the same book I started in.
I got in my time! I finished 4 books, started 2 more, and read some of this one. Audiobooks got me through dog walks and other things I needed to do around the house. I had fun, and I look forward to the next one, whenever that is!
#24in48Readathon
My first hour of this #24in48 was passed with Crimson Petal. I‘m about to switch up to Night Watch for a bit. And make my second cup of tea.
Happy Reading all!
I finally got underway with my #chunksterchallenge2021 book @Amiable . I‘ve only managed about 30 pages this week, but I think I‘ll get a good bit read this weekend during the #24in48.
This was the highest page count on my TBR shelf at 900 pages. I can tell I‘m going to love it- the writing already has its hooks in me. 😊
That‘s Igor peeking out from behind 🐱.
This chunkster was a superb read, I loved the Victorian setting and loved the characters and it was a book where I felt like I was a part of the story. Highly recommend
Reading while the hubby “watches” the Oklahoma State game. I‘m not sure how he sees the game through his eyelids. 😂
Set in Victorian London, this book is like jumping into a time machine.
It's a very long book, it's slow paced but it's beautifully written and I got through it eventually.
I really liked these characters, some of them were likeable and others not so much; they were just written so well.
Same rating as Under the Skin but this is better, great author! ⭐⭐⭐⭐
🚨Deal alert!🚨
I've seen this book mentioned a bit during these past few days and I couldn't pass this deal up. It's on sale for $1.99.
Are you EFFIN kidding me??? It‘s 900 pages!!! #PageCountPhobia #Hyperventilating I just took it off my shelf/ slowly working up the courage to read it 😳
#BookReport
I started & finished this very long book this week. I loved every page of it , intimately developed characters , complicated & real. The words on the cover describe this one perfectly: “ Unbelievably pleasurable “ ... and so it was ...
Thanks Jessie for the tag ❤️
1. I keep books that I like/love... it‘s nice to see them there & remember
2. Any more books written by Michel Faber ( recommendations welcome)
I‘m still reading tagged book & I absolutely love it 😍 love it , love it !

#Two4TuesdayGiveaway
Im a day late ... any more latecomers want to join in ??
This one has been on the shelf for awhile, and was taken down yesterday, thanks to the post of @TheNeverendingTBR , it‘s down now & im hooked. So good ! This is my #WeeklyForecast ❤️
Had my eye on this for a while because having read Under the Skin and loving the weird brilliance of it I've been wanting to read another Faber book since, got this for £2 at a charity shop today! 👌
My next read! ✅
Couldn't put this down. I recommend it to everyone. It has a gritty, Dickensian vibe and totally pulls you in to a fully realised exciting world.
