Rizzoli and Isles. Fun female characters.
The first in the Rizzoli and Isles series, which I've read but somehow don't own (though I own most of the rest of them). One of my favorite thriller authors.

The hubs and I listened to this one on our trip to South Florida this past week. I have read the entire series but it was quite awhile ago and I thought he‘d like them. This is a view from the top of Ft. Jefferson on the big island in Dry Tortugas NP.
Started this and could not put it down! Rizzoli is one of my favorite modern fiction and Tess brings her to life in a great way
#LittensDressedInBlood #Day22 #PsychoKiller Warren Hoyt came instantly to mind for this prompt. A sadistic torture serial killer, he built up quite a tally in Boston until Detective Moore & his partner Jane Rizzoli finally take him down, but not until after he scars Jane for life, making him the star of her nightmares for years to come. A killer who enjoyed making the husband watch as he raped & murdered, psycho is not a strong enough descriptive.
Wow. Very strong for a first novel. At first I was surprised that Jane took a back seat in this book. It made it so much higher value when she starred at the end though. Still waiting to discover how many other show characters are from the books.
1 I have fairly broad taste from Ambrosia to Queen, and almost everything in between. I also enjoy instrumental and folk music. And parody.
2. Any trip which facilitates antiquing and thrift hunting.
3. Bold to assume I have grown up.
4. Puppies, and murder mysteries. In that order. Not combined.

#20series20days Day 17 I really like this series and I liked the Rizzoli and Iles TV show that was based on the books.
I‘ve shied away from her books because they sound a bit gruesome, but I‘m looking forward to seeing what she writes in this regard. IMHO it‘s long overdue, and it will ring kind of hollow if contemporary mystery writers don‘t address the current situation in future books. #justsaying
It's a pretty typical police procedural, but i like them when done competently. Also has a decent dose of feminism, though it's mostly Feminism 101 level stuff.
One of these days i need to find a police procedural series that centers regular everyday murders, not convoluted serial killings. No idea if that exists.
I'd forgotten this book has feminist commentary such as this bit. Also had a bit a couple pages ago on cops being control freaks in a way that pulls back the curtain a little on some of the seedier aspects of cop culture.
A reread, which i don't tend to do much of because there's too many good books out there that i haven't read. I read this maybe a decade ago and don't have much recollection.
I feel like I should be studying before reading this series lol! HS Science class was...eons ago & right now I‘m feeling pretty dumb. Apparently I‘ll be looking into checking out some anatomy (for dummies, with lots of pics) books from the library on Tuesday. 😬🧐🤦🏻♀️🤯
Been looking forward to starting this series for a couple of years. #widehorizonsreadathons #LitsyAtoZ
This came up in my BookBub deal of the day ($1.99). I decided to look on Overdrive to see if was available instead of impulsively buying it (like I usually would lol). Lucky for me they have (at least) books 1-3. I own 4-5, 8-10 lol! Borrowed & downloaded!! It‘s a series I‘ve been looking forward to starting for a while (since seeing a random tv episode my dad was watching). I liked what I saw & figured the books would be worth a read! 📚🎶👏🏻😻
This was a #bookoutofyourcomfortzone ...the storyline got way too real, and I had to put it down. A serial killer preys on single women and breaks through their bedroom window. Yup. No thanks! My imagination is vivid enough without worrying about people coming through my bedroom window.
I try to read a variety. Part of my job is recommending titles to people, so I like having a well-rounded reading experience. But, not this! #SelfImprovementSept
I wasn‘t as emotionally invested in the main characters as I would have liked, but I WAS invested in whodunit. The villain was sufficiently creepy to keep me reading. Honestly, the first book in a series can sometimes be problematic. The author hasn‘t quite gained their sea legs. I will definitely be giving the rest of the series a go. If anything, it‘s helping me get out of this Book Distraction Syndrome/slump BS. 😂🤣
Dude....I went a little crazy on this book haul. Oh well!
Ein sehr spannendes Buch, eins der Besten in der Serie.
While I‘m in Boston might pop in and see Rizzoli and Isles, but need to ensure I don‘t become a victim of The Surgeon or any of the other killers! A great series!

#13books13weeks Book 3! The first of the Rizzoli and Isles series sans Maura Isles. This really introduces Jane Rizzoli and starts to develop her character. The mystery is well laid out and although there aren‘t a lot of clues to the real culprit (at least that I noticed). An intense last couple of chapters wrapped things up nicely. Overall a good start to the series.
1. Rizzoli and Isles, Women‘s Murder Club, Gretchen Lowell and Archie Sheridan series 💔
2. Ugh this one is so hard! Friends, How I Met Your Mother, Six Feet Under, Golden Girls
3. Never ever
4. I have nothing fancy planned-maybe some takeout
5. Does the Sports section of the paper count?

I think I found Patricia Cornwell replacement 😍(her last 4 books were very bad 😭). This book is a page turner with believable characters and great plot. I haven't seen the TV show yet. I probably will. #book #bookaholic #booklovers #ler #leitura #leitora #reading #instabook #instaread #instabooks #bookstagram #litsy #booklover #readingabook #vero #Sha2018
Favorite thriller. Well paced, good characters, excellent tension throughout. This is the origin book for the TNT series Rizzoli and Isles. @ReadingSusan #litsygiveaway
Trying to fight a nap.... switching to kinda terrifying mystery and fixing a single cup of coffee. I‘m at 16.5 hrs and might not make the 24 hr mark. #24in48 #readathon
4/5⭐️ - This book started out a little slow for me. You could tell the author did her research to make the book more realistic and believable but for me it didn‘t really pick up until we found out who the murderer was and what his motivation was. But defiantly a murder mystery/suspenseful thriller!
3 out of 5 stars

Very excited that I liked the first book of the Rizzoli and Isles series. Now I get to read all the other ones ! Before actually watching the show 👌

Exploring the mystery series world a little more. Tell me, dearest Littens...What series do you love?

Perfect vacation read! Full of suspense, but not too heavy. I watched the Rizzoli and Isles TV show because I have a girl crush on Angie Harmon. I've wanted to try the books for awhile. Way more serious tone than the show, I'll probably read them all if they don't get repetitive.
This is one of the best books I have ever read - all the Rizzoli & Isles series are brilliant and will have you gripped from the start!
Women are raped and killed in their 🏠. Organ is missing. The ‘trophy‘ that the killer took. But 1 managed to escape. 1 managed to kill the psycho before he took her. But now, similar killing is sighted. Someone is mimicking the killings. Or he‘s back to finish the survivor?? #thriller #series #suspense My 1st read by this author. A very detailed book with Moore and Cordell as the main. Rizzoli seems to be the secondary character.
Hmmmm... I'm not sure. It was a compulsive read. Gerritsen's characters aren't cardboard at all. There's real depth here, but it's so "women in peril." It never feels quite gratuitous, but it gets close. It's kinda nice to see the crusty, unlikeable cop be a woman. And Jane Rizzoli is not a pleasant woman. It's also interesting that it's the first in the Rizzoli and Isles series, but there's no Isles yet.
So I loved, loved, loved the show, and am now staring the novels. A little nervous because I heard they were very different. Guess we'll find out...
#anditsaugust The friendship in the show and books is different, but I love both versions. #rizzoliandisles #girlfriends
This is one I bailed on a couple years ago, simply because it freaked me out. A serial killer who breaks into the homes of single women and pretty much butchers them. Hit a little too close to home. #SleepWiththeLightsOn #SplashIntoSummerReads
#Characters2017 #day14 #QueenBee Maura Isles is definitely a Queen Bee. Known by the Boston PD as the Queen Of Death, she's dark, mysterious, beautiful & aloof. Completely different than the TV Maura, she's had a tough time & can only count on Jane Rizzoli as a friend. But in her morgue, she's the Queen of all she surveys.
Do you like your thrillers on the graphic and gruesome side? Do you like forensics work that involves a lot of talk about hair? Then this is the book for you. It's page turnery. There's a serial killer. There's a female detective who has to deal with misogyny on the job. What more do you want? #crimefiction

My first Rizzoli and Isles book (although Isles isn't introduced until the second book) and its soooooo good! Been a while since I've read a crime thriller and this one kept me hooked 😍 first book of 2017 👍 #RizzoliandIsles #2017reads
I had this book on my to read list for over a year and never got around to reading it. I'm regretting that I didn't read it before now. I loved it. Will be reading more of this series. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
