The Killing Room | Peter May
post image

Currently reading - Peter May is so good at suspenseful police procedural thrillers! Forever grateful to @Crazeedi and @EadieB for the introduction to him! ❤️📚

I need to update my Litsy account with reviews! I‘ve gotten behind. So busy with house projects and my visiting MIL, I haven‘t had much time to read, let alone write reviews. She‘s going to be with us through the end of the year, so I‘m hoping to settle into more of a routine soon. 💕

EadieB @Elizabeth2 I‘m glad you are enjoying the book! 14h

Delightful, light and satisfying. I‘m a fan of her Dr Ruth mysteries. Just read this because I have loved those and it popped up in the library.

I have decided to start reading books in Norwegian and Danish to keep my brain alert. It‘s quite easy for native Swedish speakers. Good book, set in a fascinating environment.

Fun! I read, liked, and didn‘t really remember the first Ffion Morgan book, and this one was good too! About a morally bereft and totally believable reality tv show that involves contestants living together on a mountain in Wales… that happens to be in Ffion‘s town. Then crimes happen! I wish I knew how to pronounce the Welsh phrases in my head!

May issues of Real Simple have been read! April issues have been stashed away for…later. June issues are taunting me. #monthlymagazineblitz

I‘ll be donating these two little cat/yoga books. They‘re cute, but they can delight someone else now. Likewise the tagged book. It‘s the ninth book in a series I‘m just about to start, and I‘m sure that once I get that far I‘ll be able to find it in a public library or a bookstore. #readordonate

#serieslove2024 back to this great series. Brunetti has to investigate a suicide at an elite military academy. The case is complicated by a lack of transparency, the parents are powerful people , politicians & military leaders. Brunetti is always thoughtful, his wife , family, food , wine , & Venice are always part of the story. Love this series, many to go , this is only book 12 of 30 plus !

TheSpineView Love when a good series has lots of books. 2w

I listened to this. My latest bookclub book. I haven‘t read a modern crime novel in a while and this was a pleasant surprise! I was reminded of my time as a police officer. The good and the bad. It also made me laugh.

CarolynM I need to try Peter Temple. I recommend Garry Disher if you fancy more modern crime #ozfiction. 2w
Rissreads @CarolynM I don‘t do much crime. I think I read way too much of it in my early 20‘s and I lived it for 10yrs. I‘m also very selective with crime novels. It has to be realistic and well written. Peter Temple wrote the Jack Irish tv series, which is fantastic! 2w
CarolynM Not that I have any lived experience of policing, but I think Disher‘s Hirsch series is pretty realistic. My husband had two uncles who were country cops in SA. He only just made it through the first in the series because he was triggered by it 2w

Centique I didnt know you had been in the police! What an interesting life you have led 🙌 My nephew qualified as a detective about a year ago but he has recently moved to Brisbane and is taking a break from policing for a while. It sure is a hard job. 1w
MrsMalaprop Glad you liked it. I read a few of his years ago. 5d

1. No… I take very good care of my books!
2. I read a ton of Sandra Brown at that age but nothing sticks out in my memory
3. There are several… Harry Potter, The Wishing Game, and Number the Stars just to name a few

A fast paced psychological thriller. The novel has lots of twists I didn‘t expect. The wife is in prison for a crime she didn‘t commit. When she‘s released she plans a way to try to prove her innocence and be able to have her daughter live with her again. Who‘s the worst problem: her husband, her personal trainer/police officer or her best friend? I gave it a 4/5 rating.
