You don‘t have to be vegan or even vegetarian to find a ton of good recipes in this book. I was surprised by the number I want to try. Highly recommended.

I'm learning all about craft cider, domestic cideries, apples, and more. I'm not quite done with the book, but I'm now on the hunt to find good cider in the States. I've yet to find a US cider I like as well as the ones I've had in the UK in Europe, but I'm still searching. Although the plot line was a little disjointed, I enjoyed this graphic nonfiction about the 1918 flu pandemic. It really showed how swiftly it spread and how deadly it was. Geared to middle grade readers, it‘s a good introduction to the terrible year.

I am obsessed with this cookbook! I want to make every single recipe plus the book is drop-dead gorgeous to look through. Boy and Girl is billed as a little weird, but still looks interesting. I'm most excited about this body-image-positive story set in East London about a big girl who loves food, life, and her little sister. I love this book. I reviewed it on my blog recently, but tonight I made rhubarb-strawberry slab pie. I did good on the lattice but the crimping needs work. Oh well taste is everything. Thanks to Abrams for the review copy.

I‘ve been loving this series and am hoping to finish this installment today. First day reading on the deck (which isn‘t completely set up yet). This is a sci-fi action series with anthropological / colonization themes. Happy Saturday you all!

I think this was my first Peter Swanson. Well-plotted thriller. Even if you guess the twist, the behavior of the characters holds true. 🎧 Sophie Amos & Graham Halstead do a really nice job narrating. Amos has the bulk of the #audiobook — good characterizations & pacing.

Pretty much everything I made from this book was awesome but this apple-bacon relish is *dangerously* delicious. If you don‘t eat it all by the spoonful 5 minutes after making it, try it on burgers, hot dogs/sausages, on crackers, as a dip for tortilla chips. I‘ll be sharing the recipe in a week or so. I love this book. Thanks Abrams books.

Holy cow. This trilogy is so good. Colonization of a very dangerous planet & how people adapt. Original colonizers vs native creatures vs late arrivals from Earth who have no clue about what they face in a new world. I need book 3 NOW

Gawk! This book starts off bursting with action — then introduces believable characters and good world building. Only about 1/3 in but totally hooked. Start of a trilogy, and all books are available.

What I did tonight while listening to this epic fantasy. 🎧 I have mixed thoughts about the #audiobook, but this whole wheat sunflower seed bread is going to be great. #bakersoflitsy

Whoa. I could not stop listening to this thriller. Nicely done & well researched. Those of you—like me—who are outdoorsy or who love dogs will esp. like this. 🎧 mostly read by Emily Rankin & Robert Fass. Really well done: good characterizations & excellent tension/pacing. Put this on your wish list in any media (trigger warning)

Such a sweet story with good lessons about friendship and being true to oneself. Good characters and just enough rom com to be fun but not so much to make it silly. I also recommend her 1st book. 🎧 audiobook performance by Soneela Nanjani was excellent. Vikas Adam has a small part, but his performance also good.

I was curious about this award-winning crime story translated from Korean. I bailed on about page 80. It was weird in a good way, but I just haven‘t felt compelled to pick it up again. I‘m officially abandoning it.

Loved this memoir with recipes. Hood talks about family, motherhood, marriage, love, and loss — and the food that ties us to memories and loved ones. Recipes included. 🎧 Nina Alvamar‘s performance was great, but if you want to make any of the recipes, you‘ll want to read this in print.

I‘ve read other Peter May books but somehow missed this trilogy, set in the Outer Hebrides. I loved the atmosphere, the characters, the secrets. Can you ever escape your past? Detective Macleod returns to his native island to solve a murder but ends up facing his own demons too. 🎧 Peter Forbes‘s performance was terrific and I loved hearing how the Gaelic is pronounced. Looking forward to book 2 (w/ a wee dram & shortbread)
