I picked this little gem up from my #littlelendinglibrary around the corner. I love this genre of fiction where the author relates an element of reality from their own lives and builds a plausible story from it. It reads like a true story and I like that effect.
This was a first novel from this author and it was a job well done.

Bruce Pitcher is one of the most amazing and inspiring people. From what should crush a person's soul only made Bruce stronger. A truly inspirational read for anyone.
There two are headed it to two awesome Littens: @PatriciaU and @Kappadeemom for the July/Aug and Sept/Oct #feedareader swaps. @MinDea @TricksyTails
Thank you @mabell for the amazing #feedareader package! You surely or a lot of thought into it. I love home made cook books.... There are always a few treasures inside each one. Rory was particularly fond of the cookie cutter.... 🐕 @TricksyTails @MinDea
I just discovered that one of our Litsy friends has passed away. @TheCanuckReader passed away due to ovarian cancer. She was a very passionate vet and wildlife rehabilitator. I had the coincidental luck to send her a #santagoespostal gift last year, but already know of her thorough the wildlife rehab community. See: www.cwrc.net we'll miss you.
Someone please tell me the point of this book will come soon? I'm almost ready to bail, but I've invested 300 pages into it already...
Holy moly, I have finished!!!! I did it. It was 2 years in the making and now it has been done. Check one off the list of Books to Read Before I die. #lesmislovescompany
So considering the story of this amazing Canadian takes place on the 1800s and into the turn of the century,, the ending of this book seems obvious.... But I still needed tissues.
Thank you so much @PatriciaU for the lovely #feedareader package!! I love the blank recipe book you sent along with your recipes. I'm always scribbling recipes here and there so this will be a great place to keep this handy. I received an earlier chili recipe from @PolaroidPoet so the corn bread and chill will make a perfect menu together!!!!
@MinDea @TricksyTails
This was sent this week to @mabell for #feedareader. For some reason, the post mistress couldn't figure out how to apply tracking to it, so please let me know when it arrives. Hope you enjoy a sweet summer recipe. @MinDea @TricksyTails
Getting closer and closer to the end!!! #lesmislovescompany
Even though I already knew the ending, the book still kept me in suspense. I loved the tales of ultramarathon running interspersed throughout the sorry of Gobi. A heartwarming story.
I expected this book to be a bit more meaty, but it did have some good nuggets of wisdom I appreciated. The good news is that I am half way done my #readingchallenge 2018!!! I'm ahead of schedule!!!
I love these types of period memoirs. I really enjoyed watching the television show, and the book is just as good. I loved reading the #Cockney dialect appendix. I do find the book end abruptly, so it's good that there are two more to read in the series...
Tea and books while watching the Royal Wedding. There is something so amazing about celebrating love. ❤️💖💕
Sad, frightening, loving, erotic, eye-opening, and accepting. All words that describe this collection of poetry. ❤️📖
I really enjoyed this book, although I was under the impression it was for 12ish year old audience. There were a few parts with more adult language and content so I would not recommend for anyone under 14. Listened to #audiobook: decent narration except when Miss Peregrine speaks - wasn't exactly how I would have interpreted her voice.
I have loved the #feedareader swap so far!!
1. Anything on my TBR on Litsy. I keep it very up to date.
2. Tea, coffee, chocolate, anything local to your neck of the woods.
3. Big goal - zucchini spiraler.. but tea towels and anything silicone tipped like mixing spoons, tongs, etc.
4. I do love local cookbooks, even the granny and church basement types-great finds from used bookstores. Classic cookbooks are also a favorite.
@MinDea @TricksyTails
This was certainly worth a #Bible read through to see a different interpretation. I enjoyed many of the passages that used obvious contemporary language. I be still definitely be using this again to help clarify other translations. If you have found reading the Bible challenging, this may be a good reference for you.
There are certainly speaks of joy in this book that I am loving.
I am finally on book 5!!! #lesmislovescompany had been a long time coming.
I am quickly falling in love with Pauline Johnson, Canadian poet. She was a "New Woman" in her own right - mixed race Iroquois and British and certainly a progressive woman of the day. @DeweysReadathon #readathon
Finally getting the chance to spend some #readathon time. This is the good spread when I arrived... There is more in the kitchen....

Oh Marius is such a brooding young man...... The inevitable is coming, and I'm not sure I'll be able to hold back the tears. 76% completed
Thank you so much for my #feedareader package @Kappadeemom !!! It did get here, so that is a sure relief. I love local cookbooks, so thanks for sharing a favorite of yours. You'll have to let me know a favorite recipe for me to try. Rory is hoping I'll make her some homemade dog cookies with the cookie cutter. ❤️Carrotwhisk @MinDea @TricksyTails
While this was an enjoyable read in some aspects, the ending was very predictable. I did enjoy the juxtaposition of the comic book spreads as a representation of the story. I thought that was very clever.
Great book to finish while I was sick...(yes, again)....I loved this little book. A little mystery. A little nostalgia. And a secret wish to start some crazy mysterious society. Plus this cover reminds me of qbert... Comment if you ever played qbert
Not being able to browse books while working in a bookstore would be pure torture.
I'm glad I added this to my "classics to read" pile. The book is very different than many of the adaptations out there.
You know you were sick when you couldn''t even read. #nomoresleepingoncouch #backinbed #backwithbook
In the musical, I have always had a deep love of Eponine and never really liked Cosette. In the book, my feelings for both are changing.... I'll see how I feel as the plot goes on....
I finally had a day to get to the post. I live fairly rural and I have to wait until I have a day when I am not working and can get there when they are open. Thank you sooooo much @PolaroidPoet for the #feedareader parcel!!! I can't wait to make this chili for dinner this week. Thank you so much for the peppers, I am sure I wouldn't have found them here. I haven't read this book yet, but it is perfect for me! Ciao Bella! @MinDea @TricksyTails
Both my January-February and March-April #feedareader parcels went out at the same time. One a little late and one very early. My March-April match will be receiving a separate envelope too as I forgot to put the recipe in the package.....oops. @MinDea @TricksyTails
An unusual story of 15 dogs given human thinking abilities to evaluate their ultimate happiness or unhappiness. Taking place in Toronto, and knowing the city, it was nice to "follow" the dogs' travels. I listened to this in an audio book and it was narrated by the author which was delightful.
Although the source of the narrator was a bit confusing at first, this is a great fictionalized retelling if the life of Margaret Mead. The story keeps you in the toes while following the lives of three anthropologists. Warning... The author had taken many artistic liberties with the story line, but all together a great read. Thank you so much @kspenmoll for sharing this one with me.
A great light read that will make any dog lover laugh or loud. Certainly one that is nice to read in small snippets while reading other books.
No photo of Rory #dogsofLitsy today. She's sleeping after tearing her ACL. Hopefully it will heal, as I'm worried about her.
I made it to Volume IV!!!! The last part of the third volume was pretty exciting involving Marius, a revolver, Thenardier, and Javert.... A part I don't recall in the musical. #lesmislovescompany
Just saw this for the #feedareader swap.
1. I love all foods and would love to have you share a traditional family recipe.
2. No theme. I do loved rustic things.
3. I seem to always be in need of a good tea strainer. I also need a very small whisk.
4. My TBR on Litsy. I am also a fan of regional or vintage cookbooks.
5. Both, especially delicious when mixed together
6. A loaf pan would be especially handy.
Another off my list to read before I die. This is a nice short one with loads of symbolism. For a short novel, it is full of rich text with a dystopian warning for us all.
I'm finally through 50% of this one.......phew!
The story line of this was sad, heartbreaking, and triumphant. I think because of the way I read books this was a challenge to read one chapter at a time and not straight through. If you're thinking about reading this one, my suggestion is to put all your other books away and concentrate on this one. ⭐⭐⭐.5/5
Hope you all enjoyed a great celebration of the winter solstice!!
I'm hoping my #secretsantagoespostal partner enjoyed the box I sent. Please let me know @TheCanuckReader that you received it. Enjoy a wonderful holiday!
Thank you so much @daydreamin_star for the lovely #secretsantagoespostal parcel!!! I was so excited to open it today and thought I had better do it early in the morning.
While Rory was a little too tired to be interested, she certainly enjoyed eating my toast for me while I opened. I love the British covers of these books (different than Canadian). Have not read any of them and can't wait to read over Christmas!!
@Avanders @MrBook @BookBabe
While I wait waiting to open my #secretsantagoespostal parcel, I received THIS in the post!!
Thank you @Chasing-Pages for the #bookmarkswap package and all the goodies. You certainly outdid yourself and I hope you like your bookmarks, although admittingly your package is not nearly as elaborate. 😬
All these bookmarks will certainly help me as I complete my Masters in the winter. Grand merci!
