TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! 3h
vlwelser @TheBookHippie I feel like this is a must read for you. The MC is hiding her Judaism during the Spanish Inquisition and I think she's a real person. 3h
TheBookHippie @vlwelser she is, it‘s why I bought the book. 🙃 3h

Bailedbailed

Going to #HailTheBail on this one @Read4life . I think this is more a me thing! I got half way through and just couldn't get into this book. I guess ghosts and secret societies are not for me. I wasn't a fan of back and forth time periods in such a short span. I also didn't feel like the book really progressed at all for the entire first half. May pick it up again in the future but on to other books for now!

vonnie862 I had to bail as well! 14h

I just started listening to The Familiar today. Please tell me it gets better. I am not feeling this one at all. Reading it for #AuthorAMonth reading challenge. @Soubhiville

Deblovestoread I tried audio, too. I stored but wasn't sure if it was me or the book. 🤷‍♀️ 2d
Melismatic I thought it was ok but it is a bit of a long walk. 2d

I did not expect to like this book, but it drew me in, and by the 2nd half, I couldn't put it down! The storytelling, world building, characters, and magic all hooked me! I wasn't wild about Six of Crows, the only other one of Bardugo's I have read, but I decided to give her another try since she is our March #AuthorAMonth. I'm so glad I did! I will definitely pick up the sequel and continue with this story! @Soubhiville

AmyG I was surprised that I also enjoyed this…not usually my chosen genre. 2d

#Read2025

Finished last night for March‘s #AuthorAMonth It‘s my first Leigh Bardugo (I have Ninth House sitting around somewhere) & overall I liked it. It did take time to get into it & it drug a bit but I found the story, setting (Spain in the 1500s) & blend of historical fiction & fantasy interesting. I liked seeing Luzia‘s power & confidence grow & found the Jewish magic & mysticism during the time of the Spanish Inquisition compelling.

About half way into this book and struggling to get through it. I guess ghosts and secret societies are not my thing. I'm going to see how much I get through this weekend and then make a call on continuing. I just can't seem to get into it and couldn't care less about what happens to the characters for some reason. I think if I don't finish I might try at a later date because maybe it's just my current reading mood.

Read4life I bailed. But I think it could just be my mood right now. I‘ve left it on my TBR but it‘s not getting read this month for #AuthorAMonth. @Soubhiville #hailthebail (for now anyway 😉) 4d
Soubhiville I couldn‘t get into this one either. 4d

This book should be right up my alley, but for some reason I just can‘t get into it. I checked out something else for #authoramonth so I‘ll see how that goes.

Karisa Same! I was so looking forward to it. However, it felt like a slog to me.😢 6d
Soubhiville Her YA is fairly fast paced, maybe that would work better for you. I loved the Shadow and Bone trilogy. 6d

I thought this was a really solid YA fantasy trilogy. Glad Bardugo was chosen for #AuthorAMonth, otherwise these books may have sat unread on my shelves for who knows how long! My editions also included a short story about Genya and a prelude about The Darkling as a child.

I‘m planning to keep an eye out for a used copy of the Six of Crows Duology, and I expect I‘ll like that just as much if not more. 🙂👍👍

2nd #AuthorAMonth read for March. A little darker than book one but still as much fun.

Look what arrived as I was writing my review for book one. So I‘m putting Bardugo‘s Wonder Woman book on hold so I can read this one! #authoramonth @Soubhiville
