+ I enjoyed reading the family scenes
+ Description of Venice was fabulous
+ I liked Commissario Brunetti and his interactions with the other characters (his children, suspects, his boss)
- I vehemently disliked the public prejudice of lgbtq. It implies a mother, identified as lesbian, could lose custody of her children
- (TW) child abuse
- Translation at times was confusing.

“He rooted around in the top drawer of his desk and found half a package of bussolai, the salty Venetian pretzels he loved so much.”
I love it when my #foodandlit read mentions food. So I looked up buying bussolai pretzels on Amazon. Nope. 😕

“The crime rate in Venice was one of the lowest in Europe and certainly the lowest in Italy—because the criminals… simply didn‘t know how to get away. Only a resident could navigate the spiderweb of narrow calles, could know in advance that this one was a dead end or that one ended in a canal.”
Having gotten a bit lost in Venice and quite a bit of time walking around it, I quite agree!

Starting this one today after seeing @Texreader for #jubilee I am hoping it's a series.

I love Italian cuisine. Especially pasta. My favourite is spaghetti. I eat them all the time, not only in winter. These are with tomatoes and ricotta.
And my fave Italian singer (I always listen to italian songs while cooking): https://youtu.be/Z4-g8UXa944?si=y_XMecrmomZx8Gu_

A reminder that we are celebrating #Italy all year long with #foodandlit thanks to it being “Jubilee,“ a Holy Year celebrated by the Catholic Church, a year of hope and a time for reflection and forgiveness. Religious or not, every time you read about Italy or eat Italian food, we want you to celebrate it here! Post what you learn about Jubilee, Italy, the Roman Empire, etc! All other planned countries are still going forward.
Jace & I read these for #foodandlit this month. Strega Nona is set in Italy for #Jubilee - and the others are all set in The Netherlands. Strega Nona was very cute, and I also really liked The Hero of Little Street, which has no words but is quite the adventure when a little boy gets sucked into a 17th century painting in Holland. 🇮🇹🇳🇱

I chose this book set in Italy to celebrate #Jubilee for #foodandlit with Jace. This is a cute story about the history of pizza and Jace really enjoyed it. 4⭐️
