Happy #Chatterday ☕️

Thank you for all the lovely well wishes. I'll catch up on all I've missed over the last month. I hope you're all well and looking forward to spring.

What are your weekend plans?

@TheBookHippie @Chrissyreadit @Cuilin @dabbe @TheAromaofBooks @DebinHawaii @Librarybelle

Cuilin Well, I had to change my plans cause I got the dates wrong and I thought it was a rugby weekend but no Six Nations till next weekend. I guess I‘ll be reading. I have some catching up to do. 2d
Librarybelle This week has been rough, so it‘s my hope I can rest and read in between administering kitty medications. It‘s breezy yet sunny today at my house, so that helps build up my spirits! 2d
thecheckoutstack I‘ll be snowboarding in the mashed potatoe spring snow and grilling brats in the parking lot today, smoking some trout and catching up on chores tomorrow. 2d

AllDebooks @Librarybelle I wish them better with all my heart. X 2d
dabbe @Librarybelle How is Zeke doing? 🖤🐾🖤 2d
dabbe @Cuilin I still have to catch up with “Wisteria Lodge“ so I can participate today! Right there with ya! 🤗 2d
dabbe Matt and I are getting ready for our Diamondback Ticket Draft Party tomorrow. Hard to believe that baseball season is upon us! I also am WAY behind in my reading (talking to you, LES MIS), so I hope to get caught up! Hope everyone has a lovely weekend! 🩶💚🩶 2d
TheLudicReader Haha, @dabbe , my ex used to be in a band called Diamondback. 2d
Cuilin @dabbe I just started following the Red Sox on Bluesky, and I keep dropping info to my husband. He‘s like “how do you know this?” 😂 2d
Librarybelle Thanks, @AllDebooks ! ❤️ 1d
Librarybelle @dabbe At the moment, Zeke is fine. He‘s got 5 medications, with two ending tomorrow and one “as needed” after this morning. Poor kid. The food allergy thing, and he loved that food, has been tough! He and Xander love waking me up every hour for food! 😂 1d
dabbe @TheLudicReader Yet another thing we have in common. There's a story here; I can feel it! 1d
dabbe @Cuilin 🤣⚾️🤣 1d
dabbe @Librarybelle Your boys are lucky to have you for their mamma! 🖤🐾🐾🖤 1d
Librarybelle Thank you, @dabbe !❤️ 1d
DebinHawaii Having a bit of an allergy/asthma flare up but managed to make a quick trip to the monthly makers market by my house & now at the coffeeshop, then grocery store & home to rest my eyes. Glad you are feeling better @AllDebooks 💜 1d
Bookwormjillk Glad you are back among us @AllDebooks It‘s a catch up/get ready weekend for me. House cleaning, did my son‘s taxes, getting things together for spring sports for my daughter, and stashing some meals in the freezer. I want to watch a movie tonight too- maybe Conclave? 1d
mhillis Glad you‘re feeling better On Saturday I went to a lecture on Rosalind Franklin and went to dinner afterwards. The restaurant specializes in dishes made with local veggies. Today I think I‘ll stay in and audio clean / bake 💛 (edited) 1d

While I was searching for Discworld themed knit or crochet projects I came across a cute Great A‘tuin amigurumi pattern. I don‘t know anything about amigurumi yet. I have a beginner project sitting in the frog pond waiting for me to attempt again. So this link https://www.planetjune.com/blog/about/amigurumi-discworld/ is beyond my understanding and looks suitable for someone with better creative skills.

#Chatterday

Well .... 🤔🫣, that was a week. So, let's focus on wellbeing, positive, and inspirational points.
Please remember this is a safe place to vent frustrations, shout out achievements, grumble, celebrate, all of it. Throw it at me, I can take it.
Let's chat. 💙

☕️ How has your week been?
☕️ Any weekend plans?
☕️ Any recommendations? 📚🎬📺

AllDebooks @Eggs how are you? 1mo
AllDebooks @CatLass007 @Kerrbearlib This is a weekly check-in event to catch-up. 1mo

Librarybelle Nearly one week down…how many more to go??? On Monday, I started meditating again and really hope to make this a part of my daily life—I do well, and then something happens, and I stop. My irregular viewing of my non-Litsy social media platforms is going well, which means more reading time! Overall, though, I‘m trying to focus on the present and live in the moment. I‘m a pessimist by nature, and current events make me doubt a bright future. ⬇️ 1mo
Librarybelle ⬆️ My favorite band, Our Lady Peace, released a song in 2005 titled “Will the Future Blame Us,” and it‘s been going nonstop in my head all week. That and R.E.M.‘s “It‘s the End of the World As We Know It…” except I don‘t feel fine. On a positive note, I‘ve got fun plans for Sunday and hopefully a good afternoon of reading today. Plus, the first discussion of #ChristiesCapers ! 1mo
TheLudicReader Busy week of marking and chasing kids for missing assignments as semester one wraps up. Had several discussions regarding AI, too. 😖 I have quite a lot of marking to do today to be ready for submitting my marks on Monday, but I am going to make time for a visit to the bookstore and to do some reading. Also made the decision to leave FB. I am on Bluesky if anyone else is. Come find me. 1mo
Bookwormjillk Happy #chatterday The best thing I can say for this week is it went quickly. I start PT on Wednesday for my hand issues so while I know it will be torture I‘m hoping for progress plus torture. @Librarybelle I started meditation again this week too! 1mo
AllDebooks Just off to a 1 year olds birthday party. Catch up later x 1mo
mhillis I attended a symposium on AI in Language Education today. Looking forward to a chill day at home tomorrow! 1mo
Librarybelle @Bookwormjillk Admittedly, I don‘t have the best concentration for it, especially because the cats like to crawl all over me while I am meditating, but it‘s something! 1mo
Chrissyreadit @Librarybelle I have felt disheartened but i think my love of history has helped a ton to know that this is an ugly cycle and there are plenty of reasons it has happened- but it is not permanent because nothing is. One of my big thoughts is there is a huge fear of how social media has been used for misinformation- but it‘s also feared because it spreads information. We will continue to read and share and i have hope ❤️ 1mo
Eggs @AllDebooks Thx for asking - really challenging right now. Getting the house sale-ready, packing, crying, anxiety about apartment living, up and down stairs hundred X/day, visiting/consoling my partner in assisted living-so tired 🥱 1mo
Librarybelle @Chrissyreadit That‘s a good reflection and good positivity. I‘m a student of history too, and long ago I could just see where things were going. I‘m not in the hopeful mindset yet, but maybe someday… 1mo
Bookwormjillk @Eggs that sounds rough. I‘m so sorry you have to go through all of that. 1mo
Bookwormjillk @Librarybelle me too with the cats. They seem to find me meditating interesting. 1mo
Librarybelle Oh my, @Eggs ! Thinking of you! ❤️ 1mo
Cuilin @Eggs That‘s so much at one time. Sending love. Thinking of you. 1mo
Cuilin I got a steroid shot so for four days I had zero discomfort and got so much done. Working on some long term solutions with my doctor. Went to see David Grey with my daughters last night in Boston which was amazing. For a moment we could pause the anxiety of the times. @TheLudicReader Also got rid of TIKTOK, all Meta and I‘m on Bluesky. (edited) 1mo
Cuilin @Librarybelle I need to start meditating again. Any tips? I used to use an app but don‘t want to pay for anything else. 1mo
Cuilin @Bookwormjillk Good luck with the hand therapy. Hope the torture is at a minimum. 🍀 1mo
Librarybelle @Cuilin I use the Calm app. In 2020, they had a lifetime membership at a deep discount, so I splurged and bought all of the content. I did see this post from Mindful.org on free app options for meditation: https://www.mindful.org/free-mindfulness-apps-worthy-of-your-attention/ I‘ve not tried any of these, but Mindful is a good resource for meditation practices. 1mo
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I strained a muscle on the right side of my back, so during a week when I really need to release frustration through exercise, I'm limited to gentle stretches. It seems to be in the mend, though. Work was busy. It was so cold that I wore two pairs of pants. I covered for a sick colleague. BUT the weekend is here, and I'm hoping for some time to clean up a bit, to read, and enjoy the company of my guy and our dog. @Eggs Sending a hug your way. 💛 1mo
Sace @mhillis oh? What do you teach? I have yet to take the AI in the classroom plunge. 1mo
Sace @TheLudicReader Blergh. I know the feeling of chasing down students for assignments. 1mo
Sace @Bookwormjillk I hope you have more progress than torture. 1mo
Sace @Chrissyreadit I am constantly reminding myself of this (I‘m not a student of history per se but I have a working knowledge). 1mo
Sace @Cuilin glad you had days with no discomfort! 1mo
Sace @Librarybelle I have been back and forth about using the calm app. Maybe I‘ll give it a whirl. 1mo
Sace @Eggs I‘m so sorry. That‘s a lot on your plate. I‘ll keep you in my thoughts. 1mo
Sace @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick have a great weekend! Relax and refresh. 1mo
Sace I doomscrolled more than I should have this week but still way less than I have in the past. Thanks to snow days I had a lot of reading time which kept my mind of things. Working on my reading journal brought me joy as well as a nice conversation with a colleague about nothing in particular, but the human connection was nice. (edited) 1mo
Librarybelle @Sace Calm works for me, but I also know others who prefer other apps. Good luck! 1mo
Faranae I'm not in the US, so my week was less fraught in that regard. Tonight I'm having a Burns Supper on my Twitch stream, which is a bit silly since I don't currently have a way to have other people recite, or a camera for showing a proper meal. And my bagpipe music are all midis. 😂 1mo
Kerrbearlib This week I made mental health a priority. I learned emotional regulation skills & spent less time online. I‘ve been inspired by this Maggie Smith quote: “It‘s not enough to “think positive‘; you have to ‘do positive‘…Do something today, however small, to light up your own life. Or shine on someone else.” It‘s a dark time in the world & I think it‘s so important to bring light whenever possible. ♥️♥️♥️ 1mo
CatLass007 Today is #Caturday! Every day is #Caturday! The cats are the only reason I get out of bed some days. And they take very good care of me when I don‘t feel well like Thursday and Friday because I had migraines all day. Not fun, except for kitty snuggles. Today I feel much better. This book about coffee that you have tagged is making me very sad because I love coffee, but coffee doesn‘t love me anymore. I am still able to drink tea, (cont)⬇️ 1mo
CatLass007 even caffeinated tea, so it‘s not all bad. My physical health goal is to manage my pain levels, starting with migraines. My feeling is that once my migraines are no longer keeping me in bed most days. I will be able to leave the house for something other than doctor‘s appointments. I used to attend a fiber arts group and an open craft group at our senior citizen center but the instructor is now in a nursing home and those groups no longer (cont)⬇️ 1mo
CatLass007 meet. I have spent a lot of time googling and have found a fiber arts group that meets every other Friday at the public library, and a group called Makerspace that meets on Monday, Wednesday, Friday afternoons at another location. I also am looking at local book clubs and have found at least one that seems to be one in which I could participate. Maybe more. But until I get my physical health in better condition I won‘t be able to really (cont)⬇️ (edited) 1mo
CatLass007 go anywhere. I am working at ways to be more frugal, because I spend every month agonizing over every penny I spend. Mental health also is a major priority. I am looking for mentally healthy and effective ways to resist fascism in the United States. @Librarybelle @Cuilin @Sace I have tried Calm and didn‘t find it particularly helpful. I find guided meditation a frustrating experience mostly it‘s about breathing and noticing your body (cont)⬇️ (edited) 1mo
tpixie @Eggs thinking of you, your partner, and your changes. In these hectic, difficult times, be sure and pause and take a deep breath & care for yourself. 💙💙💙 1mo
CatLass007 and for whatever reason that doesn‘t work for me. I have attended a meditation group that mostly focuses on breath work, but on two different occasions, we were led on more focused, guided meditation. Mentally walking across a field, through a forest,up a hill, etc. Those seem to work better for me. But that particular group no longer (cont)⬇️ 1mo
CatLass007 meets. If any of you have have suggestions for meditations similar to the ones I described, I would appreciate any input you have to offer. 1mo
AnnCrystal @Librarybelle I believe there's hope for the future so long as don't give up hope 🙏💝.

@Bookwormjillk may the therapy help your hand recover 🙏💝.

@Eggs keeping you and yours in my prayers. Hopefully once you resettle, the stress will be a less for you 🙏💝.

@Cuilin may you find a long time solution for the discomfort 🙏💝.

@Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick may your back strengten soon 🙏💝.

@CatLass007 may your condition become well 🙏💝.

1mo
AnnCrystal Personally I am better this week mentally. We're no longer jumping out of our shoes whenever we hear sirens.

Still worried and freaking about things going on.

For meditations, my garden is my safe place 🌱💝.

Thank you for the tag ☺️💝.
(edited) 1mo
CatLass007 @AnnCrystal Thank you. 🙏🏽💗 I will pray for you and all my friends on Litsy. Although the times can be discouraging, I don‘t think I could give up hope when I know there are still so many wonderful people in this world. 1mo
tpixie @Kerrbearlib great Maggie Smith quote! 1mo
AnnCrystal Thank You @CatLass007 truth 🥲🙏💖. 1mo
Deblovestoread I have to admit I‘m mostly angry, especially at the people I know who voted for this dumpster fire. So I‘m trying to use that to make some changes like get rid of Meta products, reduce my reliance on Amazon, etc. and also review the people in my everyday life. I appreciate the reminder about this not being permanent from @Chrissyreadit although at 65 if feels like it could be for the rest of my days. 1mo
dabbe @Librarybelle Glad you're meditating and that it's helping you to feel better. Can't wait to discuss some Christie! 🩵🩶🩵 1mo
dabbe @TheLudicReader Okay, you win the teacher award. I never chased down students for missing assignments! I was like “You snoozed? You losed!“ Bad grammar intentional. Hope you get some relaxation from marking. 🩵🩶🩵 1mo
dabbe @Bookwormjillk Good luck with PT; I hope it brings excellent results. 🩵🩶🩵 1mo
dabbe @mhillis Yay! Hope it's relaxing! 🩵🩶🩵 1mo
dabbe @Chrissyreadit Thanks for reminding me of this word (as a hashtag of course): #perspective 🩵🩶🩵 1mo
dabbe @Eggs So sorry to read this. You are going through so much. Holding you in my thoughts and sending 🩵🩶🩵. 1mo
dabbe @Cuilin Hoping for as many pain-free days as possible for you! 🩵🩶🩵 1mo
dabbe @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Go easy and rest up! 🩵🩶🩵 1mo
Deblovestoread @Eggs. I‘m sorry you are going through so much and hope once you are settled you can find some comfort and peace. @Bookwormjillk @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick and @CatLass007 I hope you all find healing and comfort from your ailments. ❤️ @Cuilin David Grey! I haven‘t listened to him in a while. Need to fix that. Glad you had a lovely outing and hope you get continued respite from what ails you! Thanks everyone for sharing! ❤️ 1mo
dabbe @Kerrbearlib #dopositive Love that, and thanks. 🩵🩶🩵 1mo
dabbe @CatLass007 Meditation doesn't work much for me either. Here's a silly game I play when I want my brain to shut off: I take the alphabet and think of a category; then I try to come up with answers for each letter. Example: For “names of authors“ I might think “Alcott, Louisa“ or “Ann Patchett“ (both ways, of course). Then for B, maybe “Browning, Robert“ and so on. It really helps shut off my worries. 🩵🩶🩵 1mo
dabbe @Deblovestoread So with you! 🩵🩶🩵 1mo
dabbe How I got through this week:
1. A Trump Countdown timer: it actually helps me to see the numbers SLOWLY going down. 😂 Link: https://shorturl.at/Ai7s3
2. This song performed by Sydney Christmas. I have played it over and over again. She is STUNNING. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjyy4tYZFDc&list=RDpjyy4tYZFDc&start_radio=1
3. Creating my own mix of ambient sounds: https://asoftmurmur.com/

Sending all of you 🩵🩶🩵. #thistooshallpass
1mo
Deblovestoread @dabbe Somehow #1 gave a spark of joy and although I had seen #2 before watching today made me tear up. Thanks for that! ❤️ 1mo
Cuilin @CatLass007 speaking of walking meditation I just finished an amazing book on geotherapy, 1mo
dabbe @Deblovestoread Seeing those numbers move is reassuring! And I am now Sydney's biggest fan! 🩵🩶🩵 1mo
CatLass007 @Deblovestoread I‘m 63 and I understand what you‘re saying. I‘m tired of being angry though. Making constructive steps like ridding yourself of Meta products, reducing your reliance on Amazon, and reviewing the people in your everyday will be emotionally healthy for you (and all of us) and I hope will help reduce your anger. @Kerrbearlib I like the way you think. I‘m looking up books by Maggie Smith right now. @Librarybelle I‘m looking up (cont)⬇️ 1mo
CatLass007 mindful.org Thank you! @eggs ❤️🙏🏽❤️ @Cuilin Thanks for the recommendation! @dabbe I will look both of these up. (edited) 1mo
AllDebooks @Librarybelle I feel so much better for moving off SM. Living in the moment is the only way to live, especially in such uncertain times. X 1mo
AllDebooks @TheLudicReader I'm on Bluesky, but forget to use it. I mainly use Litsy now. Time in a bookshop is always time well spent. X 1mo
AllDebooks @Bookwormjillk sounds painful but I hope it's worth it for long term relief. X 1mo
AllDebooks @mhillis I find AI terrifying. I really need to learn more about it. 1mo
AllDebooks @Chrissyreadit there is always hope. 💙 I've been following a lot of positive folks drawing attention to misinformation and what we can do to fight back, like AOC and Rebecca Solnit 1mo
AllDebooks @Eggs you were on my mind. I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time. Do you have support or help in dealing with the house? I wish you rest and strength to see you through these awful changes. X 1mo
AllDebooks @Cuilin I bet that was a lovely distraction for an evening. 1mo
AllDebooks @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick glad you're feeling better. Enjoy your down time. X 1mo
AllDebooks @Sace I absolutely bloody love this. Connection is key to getting through these tumultuous times. Ease up on the doomscrolling, tho. I drove myself batty over it during Brexit. 1mo
AllDebooks @Faranae sounds like it will be a blast. Enjoy x 🥃 1mo
AllDebooks @Kerrbearlib I agree with Maggie Smith. That quote is going in my journal. 😍 1mo
Sace @AllDebooks I just corrected my comment because I meant to say that since I doomscrolled more than I should have it was still LESS than I did 2016-2020. I can do more good going out and connecting with others. Or staying in and reading and keeping my bad attitude about my neighbors in check 😂 1mo
AllDebooks @CatLass007 🐈😻 Chronic illness is so debilitating. All you can do is take it one day at a time. Wishing you better so you can get more out of life. This time of year is tough for me, healthwise. It's why I started the #MidwinterSolace event as a way to connect with others. X 1mo
AllDebooks @AnnCrystal I'm glad it's ben a calmer week. My garden is my happy place too. 1mo
TheLudicReader @mhillis Any interesting takeaways about AI from your symposium? 1mo
AllDebooks @Deblovestoread No!!! 65 is young, and this is a transient time. Yes, it's scary, but I think enough people will oppose the divisive, destructive changes he wants to bring in. Particularly so now it's obvious 1mo
AllDebooks @Deblovestoread he's just in it for big business. I'm doing the same, avoiding all these troublesome companies. 1mo
TheLudicReader Ugh, right @Sace “Is there anything I can do to get my mark up?” Um, yeah. All the crap you should have done during the semester. 😂 1mo
AllDebooks @dabbe that countdown is going to be obsessed over. 😅 1mo
AllDebooks @Sace yes, that's the time period I was lost in it, too. I blame covid. 1mo
TheLudicReader Omg, @dabbe, Sydney Christmas! I started crying practically as soon as she started singing. Thanks for the link. As for chasing students…I wouldn‘t chase any of them if I had my way, a deadline is a deadline. Sadly, not our district‘s pov. 1mo
AllDebooks @TheLudicReader just finished watching her. She's incredible @dabbe thanks for the link x 1mo
CatLass007 @AllDebooks Today hasn‘t been too bad. I‘m really glad to be part of this group you‘ve established.❤️ 1mo
AnnCrystal @AllDebooks 😘🌱💝💝💝. 1mo
Sace @TheLudicReader I hate when they ask what they can do to bring up their grade. “Why yes. It‘s easy. Go back in time and do the work!” 1mo
mhillis @TheLudicReader It was so interesting because some presenters were using AI as language teachers and others as language game developers. There are some gaps in our understanding of each other‘s needs but we learned a lot through discussing this 🙌 1mo
mhillis @Sace I teach English to Japanese university students. I‘m interested in AI and literature language teaching too!! 1mo
Kerrbearlib @Sace it can be hard to stop doom scrolling, can‘t it? I‘m working on reading or writing instead of scrolling, but it‘s hard to put the electronics down sometimes. 1mo
Kerrbearlib @AllDebooks I‘m so glad you like the quote! ♥️ 1mo
Kerrbearlib @dabbe you‘re welcome! 1mo
Kerrbearlib @CatLass007 #Caturday makes everything better! I hope you enjoy Maggie‘s books if you decide to read any. The one I tagged really helped me after a friend‘s death. I think it‘s a good read for anyone experiencing change or loss. I may reread it soon, I think it will be helpful with all that‘s going on in the world. 1mo
Sace @mhillis I teach novice level Spanish to US high school students. I‘m an old dog and I struggle with new tricks. I‘m only just trying CI/ADI techniques. 1mo
Sace @Kerrbearlib same l! I‘m trying to just stick to Litsy! 1mo
dabbe @AllDebooks IKR? 🤩😂🤩 1mo
dabbe @TheLudicReader I know, but it still sucks that you have to do it. I would, too, in this climate today. RE: Sydney “Merry“ Christmas: I can't stop watching her. Her rendition of “Over the Rainbow“ and “My Way“ made me 😭 as well, but “Tomorrow“ really hit it for me. She is unbelievable! 🤩 1mo
dabbe @AllDebooks YW! 🩵🩶🩵 1mo
CatLass007 When I worked at HBO in Manhattan, I was able to look out the window in the cafeteria at the National Debt Clock across the street. It was kind of depressing watching the numbers keep climbing. Eventually, National Debt stopped climbing so steeply and the billionaire who put it up had it taken down. The National Debt is skyrocketing again and his Foundation put it back up. But even as slowly as the Trump countdown clock is going, it makes me happy 1mo
CatLass007 @Kerrbearlib Do you think her books would work well as audiobooks? Particularly Keep Moving, the inspiration for the journal? 1mo
Eggs @AllDebooks Thank you. My partner‘s daughter is helping manage her dad‘s stuff. Two of my daughters live 3-4 hours away, though my youngest lives 20 minutes away and came for several hours last weekend to help with taking down the paintings and making trips to goodwill etc. I just want it to be over. I have decluttered to the MAX!!!😅 - feels good 1mo
Kerrbearlib @CatLass007 I think so, yes! 1mo
Eggs @Bookwormjillk Thank you Jill🥰 This too shall pass.., 1mo
Eggs @Librarybelle Thank you 🙏🏻 1mo
Eggs @Cuilin Thank you🥰 Thanks for the love💞 I still have a lot to be grateful for - his heart is well and he‘s grateful and sweet. 1mo
Eggs @Sace Thank you for the 💭 s; I‘m just grateful he survived the cardiac arrest - it could have been fatal. He is so grateful and sweet 1mo
Eggs @dabbe Thank you 🙏🏻 💗😘 1mo

Happy #Chatterday

How's your day going?

All welcome to join in the chitchat. ☕️

@Chrissyreadit @TheBookHippie @sace @Cuilin @dabbe @tpixie @TheAromaofBooks

TheBookHippie Holding my breath 🎗️… I don‘t say much on this platform because IMTIREDOFHATE but today I‘m just holding my breath waiting to see what happens. Then next week is a whole other story. My brain cannot comprehend I once again need to know the rights of students and if ICE can come into the buildings. RAGE is an appropriate word for the day. I know ppl don‘t like the political for me today this is my reality. So I put a spoiler up. Oy. 1mo
tpixie Great! Reading my daily read of Les Misérables for #READLESMIS. I‘m going to finally finish my #AuthorAMonth WhoseBody? ThankGoodness! And I just read JRR Tolkien‘s poem, Errantry which is very lyrical. @Daisey shared it with me! Tonight, I‘m going to a school fundraiser with my daughter. Several men cook samples of food and you go to each table to try them, & then you vote on your favorite. I‘m bringing baggies- it‘s always too much food ? 1mo
tpixie @AllDebooks Thanks for the tag! 🩵📘🩵 1mo

tpixie @TheBookHippie yes! Thanks for hosting!! 1mo
Sace I finished my sixth book of the month and I‘m currently staying tuned to the weather in hopes of another bonus day off 🤣 1mo
Sace @TheBookHippie I have been thinking about you. I‘m also holding my breath and anxious about next week. 1mo
Bookwormjillk @TheBookHippie I hear you. I‘m dreading going to work in DC on Tuesday. Really relieved that it‘s so cold and apparently they‘re all going to stay inside. 1mo
AllDebooks @TheBookHippie I fully understand how you're feeling and wish there was something I could do to make you feel better. Just know you're not alone. I think the whole world will be holding its breath on Monday. X 1mo
AllDebooks @tpixie I love Les Mis. Tonight's event sounds fun. Enjoy. X 1mo
AllDebooks @Sace lol, I get that wish. 🤣 1mo
AllDebooks @Bookwormjillk I can't imagine how touh that's gonna be. My thoughts are with you. X 1mo
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I'm just finally having my morning coffee. We are heading to Easton, PA today to have a belated holiday with my guy's cousin and her two sons (19 & 16). The father passed about 2 years ago and they all had similar interests. We like to spend time with the boys talking about superheroes and Legos. @TheBookHippie I am not looking forward to this week. You're all in my thoughts. ❤️ 1mo
TheBookHippie @Bookwormjillk ugh thankful for small favours of the weather. Sigh. 1mo
TheBookHippie @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick So sweet. Legos are the best! Hope you all have a wonderful time. ♥️ 1mo
TheBookHippie @AllDebooks Yup. Just keep swimming!!! 1mo
quietlycuriouskate @TheBookHippie I don't know what to say about Monday: still can't quite get my head around the fact that it's for real. 1mo
tpixie @Sace snow days are fun! At any age!! 🩵❄️🩵 1mo
tpixie @AllDebooks thanks! 😊 1mo
dabbe @TheBookHippie Right there with you, my friend. Living in a border state has me very worried as well. I still can't even wrap my head around it. He loses and there's an almost-insurrection. We lose, and we're supposed to play nice in the sandbox. RAGE is the word. 🩶🖤🩶 1mo
TheBookHippie @dabbe ♥️💯 1mo
Bookwormjillk @dabbe 👏👏👏 1mo
Librarybelle @TheBookHippie I was talking with my parents yesterday about how no one in my area has thought about those forced to leave the US and the impact this will have on the agriculture here. It‘s so sad. Rage away…I‘m with you! 1mo
TheBookHippie @Seabreeze_Reader I‘m doing service for MLK day and not tuning into a thing. I absolutely agree we should speak up. Those who are celebrating would like us not to - and to be quiet, which is not my problem. 1mo
TheBookHippie @Librarybelle many have left here (in November -about 60 percent). 1mo
Librarybelle @TheBookHippie 😔 So very sad. By the way, have you read this…we‘re discussing it for #LiteraryCrew on Monday, and it‘s been a good read on speaking up in your own way against hate for a YA audience. I‘ve thought of you while reading the stories! 1mo
Faranae I'm super sleep-deprived, but also excited because I finally have a fridge in my basement suite, so I can maybe start eating better. Anyone got healthy snack ideas? Nothing crunchy and it's winter here in the far North so produce will cost an arm and a leg. But baking is an option! 😻 1mo

It feels like we're reading an unrealistic sci-fi book...

My mom and I went grocery shopping yesterday. We stocked up a bit in case there's some kind of chaos and we're forced to shelter in place...that sounds ridiculous...this just all feels unsettling.

Keep praying for our wild in the forests, waters, and sky.

TheBookHippie @AnnCrystal ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ 1mo
TheBookHippie @Librarybelle yes we did this with young people for a book club ♥️♥️♥️ last go round … 1mo
Sace @AllDebooks I love my job and my kids are the BEST, but being at home snuggled in bed reading is even better! 😊 1mo
Librarybelle @AnnCrystal ❤️❤️❤️ 1mo
Librarybelle @TheBookHippie It‘s a good book club book for teens! 1mo
Sace @tpixie they certainly are! 1mo
TheBookHippie @Librarybelle they very much liked it. 1mo
AllDebooks @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick lego is the best invention. Have a fun time x 1mo
AllDebooks @quietlycuriouskate it's a dystopian nightmare, but unfortunately, irl. I'm still in shock 1mo

AllDebooks @TheBookHippie @tpixie @sace @Bookwormjillk @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @quietlycuriouskate @dabbe @Seabreeze_Reader @Librarybelle @Faranae @AnnCrystal And to anyone else who participates in #Chatterday 😊 Thank you for your responses. I started this as an open, safe space to discuss anything. I'm so pleased you all feel able to voice your worries, alongside all the good stuff. X 1mo
AllDebooks @Seabreeze_Reader I'm with you 💯 x 1mo
AllDebooks I'm changing today's #Chatterday tag to #RAGEaday. X 1mo
AllDebooks @Librarybelle We had this issue after Brexit. No one thought about a ll the EU residents working in the UK that would return to their home countries. Take the mic was the best read. 👌 1mo
AllDebooks @Faranae we love flapjacks. Various nice recipes in this article https://www.olivemagazine.com/guides/snacks-winter-walks/ 1mo
AllDebooks @AnnCrystal human rights aside, the environment is my biggest fear. It's going to be completely neglected and plundered to the detriment of us all. 1mo
Suet624 @TheBookHippie I‘m with you. If folks aren‘t upset about what‘s coming they just aren‘t paying attention or have no compassion. 1mo
quietlycuriouskate @AllDebooks Thank you for holding the space. Yes, Litsy is a respite from the ongoing crapification of the world BUT at the same time, this mustn't be a place where folk feel they must be silent. I'm scared for the whole damn world and feel helpless, pretty much, but want to show solidarity with our friends in America. God, I never imagined that Brexit was just the warm-up act for this clusterfuck. 1mo
AnnCrystal 🫂👍 @AllDebooks the environmental threat is going to be truly scary 😢🙏. Unimaginable dreadfully nightmarish...thank you for creating this safe space. (edited) 1mo

Bookwormjillk Hello! I just got back from dropping off my son on this snowy Saturday morning. Roads were actually in good shape which was unexpected for this city. My week was fine- work and weather added stress but nothing like others are dealing with. I‘m reading and loving 2mo
AllDebooks It's so cold here in the UK. I'm staying indoors to avoid an asthma flareup. The upside is how pretty the hoar frost looked this morning. I've just started #NaturaLitsy buddyread ❄️💙❄️ 2mo
AllDebooks @Bookwormjillk It's so strange getting back into normal routines. Glad you had a safe journey. I hate driving in snow and ice. I have MM on Kindle. I'll have to bump it up the tbr pile. 2mo

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Work has been hectic this week, but it's a good hectic. I'm a Sales Director for 13 hotels, so it is great that they have new accounts for me to prospect & set up on the dead of winter. I did have to wear two pairs of pants most of the week due to the below freezing temps. Not much physical reading was done, but I'm nearly finished with the tagged on audio. I haven't read it since I was a kid, so it's been good to revisit. I forgot most of it. 2mo
TheBookHippie Snow dumped over night lake effect snow and dropping temps for the 10 day forecast… so winter is here. Exams are next week and every year we get snow days in this week messes with teachers and students, we‘ve asked to do it before holidays to no avail… Mr BookHippie came home from work yesterday sick so avoid him! My son got into Honors College at the university he was early admission to, so exciting. I read the new Danielle Steel last night⬇️ 2mo
TheBookHippie No way my grandma would have ever dreamed she‘d still be writing or putting out so many books. This one was like a piece of candy. 😂 I miss gossiping about the characters with her! Book 216 read ✔️ reading this today & Happy Saturday! 2mo
TheBookHippie Daughter is doing well and even driving! ♥️ 2mo
Bookwormjillk @TheBookHippie great news about son & daughter. My son‘s school moved finals before break for that reason! Overall it‘s a good idea but due to scheduling and a storm right after break he ended up not having classes for almost a month and that will be a rude awakening this week 😂 2mo
Bookwormjillk @AllDebooks I ended up finishing. I loved it. Stay warm! 2mo
TheBookHippie @Bookwormjillk 😂 yah the reentry is rough!!! 2mo
AllDebooks @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Wow, 12 hotels is a handful. They should keep you busy and out of trouble! I haven't read Anne Frank since my teens. Way, way back in the last century. 2mo
DebinHawaii Spending my Saturday morning at the coffee shop before running errands—so nothing unusual. It was a long work week. 😬 Trying to turn it off for the weekend & do some self-care. 2mo
AllDebooks @TheBookHippie Congratulations to your son, well done. 👏 I'm so glad your daughter is on the mend and getting about now. I haven't read any Danielle Steel since my teens. I used to gossip with my gran too. They were her books! I miss that so much. 🥹 I had no idea she was still publishing. 2mo
AllDebooks @Bookwormjillk Yikes, he's gonna be in for a shock after a whole month free of classes. 2mo
TheBookHippie @AllDebooks FOUR BOOKS A YEAR. 🤯🫠🤣 2mo
AllDebooks @DebinHawaii I love that you are concentraring on yourself after a busy week. A bit of pampering never goes amiss. X 2mo
AllDebooks @TheBookHippie wait, what!!! I didn't even know she was still with us. She's taking over from Barbara Cartland. 👵✒️📚📚📚 2mo
AllDebooks @TheBookHippie Idk why, but I thought she was a lot older. 🤔 2mo
TheBookHippie @AllDebooks she‘s 77. 2mo
TheBookHippie @AllDebooks I‘ve read every single one 😅😆 with my grandma until 2009 she died at 98. I‘ve been reading them in her honor since. 2mo
AllDebooks @TheBookHippie ❤️🥹❤️ 2mo
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @AllDebooks 12 hotels does keep me busy, but out of trouble? 🙄 Let's say sometimes! 🤣 My guy is going out with his buddies for some late evening pickleball, so I'm excited to have some reading time later. 🕯☕️🐶🛋📚 @TheBookHippie That's great news about both of your children! Perhaps I should pick up a Danielle Steel book for both #192025 and the #52Books challenge. One prompt is for an author who publishes more than 1 book a year. 2mo
TheBookHippie @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick PURE SACCHARINE! You can read it in about an hour or two 😂💕 2mo
kspenmoll Answering late here- my anthem for the week! I rested & read-too cold for a walk. My first 5 day work week in a month haha none of us are used to it! So spoiled! 2mo

📢 Please note that I've dropped the Saturday to make it a simpler hashtag. Saturday shall be known as Chatterday from now. 😅

Our first #Chatterday of 2025.
❄️ How were your holidays?
❄️ What's your mood today?
❄️ How are you coping with the short days?
❄️ Any good recommendations, books, tv, film, etc

@thebookhippie @Chrissyreadit @Sace @Soscha @dabbe @Cuilin @Eggs @TheLudicReader @TheAromaofBooks @Deblovestoread @DebinHawaii

Bookwormjillk Happy #Chatterday Holidays were okay- two weeks of guests made for a lot of work. I wisely took the 2nd and the 3rd off for recovery. A day of errands and prep today and then a mini road trip for my daughter‘s tournament tomorrow. Also my son gets his license so tomorrow so he‘ll be driving us there! 2mo
Sace My holidays were nice and low key. Thanksgiving is the big holiday for us. I‘ve been doing pretty well with the shorter days and my mood has been good. I‘m currently reading several books for Litsy challenges and buddy reads, but I‘ve managed to squeeze in a binge watch of The Night Agent on Netflix. It‘s really good! 2mo
Cupcake12 Christmas seems ages away! I‘m working 4 days in a row from today and the forecast for snow is 30cm tonight ❄️ 2mo

TheBookHippie Finally snow and a bit of sun. I‘ve seen the sun maybe 3 times since December 🤯 not a fan. Hanukkah and New Years collided and the holidays ended so at last it‘s calm. Taking grandson round the corner today to our favorite thrift store, otherwise it‘s reading and warm beverages! The Six Triple Eight on Netflix is amazing. Daughter is still slow and sore but improves daily. (edited) 2mo
dabbe Warm and sunny here. #surprisesurprise Chores today and hopefully lots of reading. I chose too many wonderful buddy reads to be a part of, and I'm truly going to try and keep up. 🤪 2mo
Cuilin @dabbe Apart from the sunshine, same. Why do we do this? I just joined another today. 🤦‍♀️ 2mo
Cuilin @TheBookHippie Glad to hear your daughter is improving. 😊 2mo
Cuilin Indoor day, cleaning, tidying, knitting all while audiobooking. Black Doves on Netflix was excellent. (edited) 2mo
TheBookHippie @dabbe 🤣😂🇫🇷♥️😘 2mo
Deblovestoread Holidays were different this year and a lot more work. Back home again with a few chores to do and some reading. So far I‘ve kept up on my daily journaling (word for the year is strength), will start Les Mis today and get caught up. On track with Lark Rise to Candleford and looking forward to Sense & Sensibility. No TV lately. 2mo
dabbe @Cuilin The #foma phenomenon I believe. At least it is for me. 😂 2mo
dabbe @TheBookHippie Glad your daughter is improving. ❣️🇫🇷❣️ 2mo
TheBookHippie @Deblovestoread are you reading with us? Did I forget you 😵‍💫😬 (edited) 2mo
Deblovestoread @TheBookHippie wishing your daughter a complete recovery 🩵 2mo
Deblovestoread I am but I don‘t think I decided until the last minute and didn‘t let you know. Plus I chose not to start til today…so you are good and I am slacking 😂 @TheBookHippie 2mo
TheBookHippie @Deblovestoread let me know if you want to be tagged. 2mo
Deblovestoread Please tag me. I intend to be caught up today. Thank you 😘. @TheBookHippie (edited) 2mo
AllDebooks @Bookwormjillk glad you had a lovely family holiday but a few days to yourself too. Good luck to your new driver x 2mo
AllDebooks @Sace Glad you had a good holidays. I'll have to check Netflix out. 2mo
AllDebooks @Cupcake12 it really does. We have a snow forecast tonight too. Stay warm ❄️💙❄️ 2mo
AllDebooks @TheBookHippie we're due snow too. Enjoy your time with grandson. I love a good thrift store find. Wishing your daughter a good recovery, it is going to take time recover from surgery x 2mo
AllDebooks @dabbe I hear you on the buddyreads. I've got 14 this month. 😅🫣 2mo
AllDebooks @Cuilin lol, I'm just as bad as you and @dabbe I'm too easily bewitched by books and FOMO 😅 2mo
AllDebooks @Cuilin I have that on my watchlist. 😊 2mo
AllDebooks @Deblovestoread I'm so excited for S & S, my favourite Austen. Love the Dashwoods. 2mo
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Holidays were fine, but i worked more than usual this year so it didn't quite feel like Xmas. Grandma was able to celebrate at home. They short days luckily don't get me down too much, but I am a fan of cozy twinkle lights over harsh overhead lights. We've been revisiting DCs Legends of Tomorrow, which is now complete, if you enjoy unexpected misfit heroes in bonkers situations who are sometimes morally gray. Otherwise, trying to catch up here. 2mo
dabbe @AllDebooks Holy guacamole, Batman! 🤩🤪😂 2mo
dabbe @AllDebooks I hear ya! 🤩😂🤗 2mo
mhillis I don‘t usually have much time to watch series, but during the vacation I found that Drops of God on AppleTV was very good! And it‘s based on a manga 🙌 2mo
AllDebooks @mhillis thanks, I'll check it out. 😊 2mo
kspenmoll Its Sunday but - I spent Saturday with my HS best friend. We laugh & laugh! 2mo

Hello #SaturdayChatterday

A check-in for all Littens to share your plans, recommendations, what's on your mind, etc.
All are welcome. ♥️☕️♥️

It's the last one of the year! How have your holidays been? Are you looking forward to a New Year? 🍾🥂🥳

@TheBookHippie @Chrissyreadit #MidwinterSolace #NaturaLitsy #VirginiaBloomsberries

Sace I‘m hoping to finish Morality for Beautiful Girls and start on Clean Sweep. I‘m trying to time my reads so there‘s no overlap into the new year. The holiday has been wonderful and I‘m excited about another year. 2mo
AllDebooks @Sace so glad you've had a wonderful time. Enjoy your books x 2mo

Librarybelle How can this be the last weekend of 2024??? After cleaning this morning, I plan to read—so many books to finish by the end of the year! This has been a good holiday, working a little bit and doing a lot of reading. Wishing everyone a good new year! 2mo
Cupcake12 Had a nice quiet Christmas. I‘ve already been back to work but today I‘m at home catching up on Xmas tv, cuddled up with my fur babies. I have some book store vouchers so I‘m looking at purchasing new books too. Xx 2mo
AllDebooks @Librarybelle It's crazy how quick it's gone? My theory is that if you're involved in the academic year, time flies by. I'm hoping time slows down once my beasties are all finished with school and college. I'm planning on much the same as you in the run-up to new year. Enjoy your reading xx 2mo
TheSpineView Thanks for the tag! 2mo
tpixie @AllDebooks TODAY is our family Christmas- all 4 kids are here with 6 grandkids & a friend. Sadly, my son-in-law just had knee surgery & he tried to wean off his meds too fast & he‘s been in pain so decided to stay at his mother‘s house a little longer instead of being part of our craziness these last couple days.- which is a good decision, but we miss him. Our big dinner is tomorrow! No reading except in the middle of the night! 😝 Wild but fun 2mo
kspenmoll I am so happy- a nice long break from work/ HS-I don‘t go back until 1/2/25. This has been a leisurely time. Today we are having freezing rain so I plan to read! 2mo
Bookwormjillk I‘m in agreement with all of you that it‘s crazy how fast this year went. We still have house guests until the 1st so not a lot of reading time here. It is nice to see everyone but the social batteries of this family of introverts are draining quickly. Hoping to encourage the guests to take an outing today 😂 2mo
Librarybelle Good luck with your reading too, @AllDebooks ! 2mo
TheBookHippie Freezing rain and multiple barometric pressure shifts here -it‘s like a rollercoaster! Yikes. Mr Book Hippie has off until January 6 as does my son -so we‘re huddled in with books movies homework scholarship applying …I‘m trying to stay this side of a migraine. About to make coffee… 2mo
TheBookHippie @Bookwormjillk 😅🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 2mo
TheBookHippie My daughter is recovering much better now. She goes back to work at school January 13. 2mo
AllDebooks @Cupcake12 I would already have picked out my books, hoping for vouchers. Enjoy your relaxing day with your fuf babies x 2mo
AllDebooks @tpixie Sounds like SO much fun. Wishing you SIL well. Enjoy your family time xx 2mo
AllDebooks @kspenmoll how lovely that you both have a nice, long break x 2mo
AllDebooks @TheBookHippie oh that weather does sound challenging. Stay warm and well. So glad your daughter is getting better and still has a couple of weeks to recover before back to work. 2mo
AllDebooks @Bookwormjillk it is lovely to have family visiting but hard work trying to keep everyone happy. I'd be stood at the door like a drill major yelling at everyone to get outside 2mo
tpixie @TheBookHippie great news about your daughter 2mo
TheBookHippie @tpixie so relieved. ♥️ 2mo
dabbe @Sace Keep those books rolling! Happy New Year. 🩵💙🩵 2mo
dabbe @Librarybelle I like the “little“ work and the “a lot“ of reading! 🤩🤗🤩 2mo
dabbe @Cupcake12 We had a quiet Christmas, too. Perfect for introverts! 🩵💙🩵 2mo
dabbe @tpixie Embrace the craziness! Have a wonderful day, and I hope your SIL rests and takes those meds! 🩵💙🩵 2mo
dabbe @kspenmoll I never understood how important time off was until I taught high school. Enjoy! 🤩😂🤗 2mo
dabbe @Bookwormjillk I love @AllDeBook's advice: stand at the door with their coats and shoo them outside! 🩵💙🩵 2mo
dabbe @TheBookHippie Hope that migraine stays far away. #huddlesandcuddles 🩵💙🩵 2mo
dabbe @TheBookHippie And yay for your daughter! 🩵💙🩵 2mo
dabbe Enjoying coffee with Matt and the dogs on the couch with me in front of a fire. I just finished STILL LIFE and am looking for the next book. So many to choose from: the best problem to have ever! Hoping for a quiet day in the den just like we are right now. 🩵💙🩵 2mo
Eggs Raining like crazy here ☔️ . If it stops I‘ll be audio walking and getting rid of useless stuff in garage, so I can make our house sale-ready…😟 2mo
Bookwormjillk @TheBookHippie so glad she is doing better! What a relief that must be! Re:guests they‘re out for the afternoon and they took the dog! 2mo
TheBookHippie @Bookwormjillk It is. Such a tough go at the beginning. I‘m relieved she‘s looking better. 2mo
willaful Time is moving so fast, even my daughter is starting to notice it!
2mo
DebinHawaii I had quiet holidays with lots of naps, was back at work yesterday then it‘s work Monday with Tues/Wed off then back at work again. Just trying to rest up & nip the latest bug to get me. 🤧😷 Currently out running errands & grabbing coffee, then probably heading back home for a nap. 2mo
