Clare-Dragonfly Linguistic note: I see that Annette has switched from calling Emily “mamselle” to “madam”! This matches up with something I noted in the book I just finished—in English, Mrs was for a long time just a title of respect for an adult woman of a certain class, even if she wasn‘t married. The Mrs versus Miss for marital status distinction wasn‘t solidified until the mid-19th century. Emily is probably Madam now that she‘s inherited.

willaful I was expecting something horrible. I guess Sydney was too.

Kerr continues to be the effing worst. She deliberately tantalized Sydney and then tried to lure her back. Sydney went to a dark place but I\'m glad she has learned better now. Only two chapters left, perhaps she\'s safe? 😬 4mo

mcctrish Kerr is the worst @willaful and if the worst thing that happens is Sydney sees the light of her rushed marriage almost colliding with a logging truck #couldbeworse 4mo
