This was just super slow and I kept getting confused on what was going on. I was excited to finally get to this one, but it just wasn‘t for me.

I hate to say it since I made it halfway, but I‘m bailing. It‘s not bad, I just don‘t care and I‘m having a hard time making myself pick it up. So back to the library it goes. Maybe I‘ll try again another time.
We weren‘t insanely busy today at work but I still feel tired and out of sorts and I work a scheduled 10 hours tomorrow. 😞 so a #BathNBook, 911:LoneStar (because Rob Lowe), and an early bed are calling my name!
I have two library books left and approximately 2 weeks to get them done. They‘re both YA which means they should go fast for me but between my work hours and my attention span, it might be tricky. So far this is off to a good start
Decent potential, horrible execution IMO.
The friendship wasn't at all believable and the two romances overtake the female empowerment plot.
It was too ridiculous for this jaded thirty-something reader.
This has been on my Kindle for ages and the cover grabbed me this evening when in search of my next read!
Loooooved this one! Gritty, badass young women finding their way and taking charge of their lives. I found the two protagonists to be strong, flawed, and fabulously fierce. Would recommend.
With grit & grace, Lemon weaves together a sultry tapestry of southern Virginia through the lives of two girls on the verge of womanhood. I loved getting to know Tourmaline & Virginia, & the relationships that bloomed. The plot sometimes missed a step in the telling, but more than made up for it w/ dark, delicious prose & strong characterization. Gorgeous, haunting, & hopeful. ★★★★☆.
*TW for some sexual harassment, & mentions of physical abuse.

I was expecting this to be just a fun and breezy YA but it was a lot more than that. It deals with found family, quick friendships, addiction, misconceptions and biases. I loved the descriptions of rural Virginia, you can feel the heat humidity and the author‘s love for the area. This is a great debut and I can‘t wait to see what she writes next! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am OBSESSED. It was pitched to me as Thelma and Louise meets Sons of Anarchy, but it is so much more than that. It's a story abt friendship, family, justice & scraping out a place for yourself in the world that is yours & yours alone. Amazing characters, gorgeous writing, a truthful & respectful depiction of the South & a setting so sultry & atmospheric I feel like I can open the door and walk into a hazy Blue Ridge summer night.
Me: I will be productive the rest of the day.
Mail: Here‘s your new book!
Me: Later. I will be productive the rest of the day later.

This book was seriously great, loved it from start to finish. As a YA set amongst a biker gang, it had something different in terms of setting, the writing was great and the characters fantastic. The plot kept me turning pages and the romances were swoon-tastic. Serious love for this one. #romansty #osrbc
Evening reading: Pitched as ‘Sons of Anarchy‘ meets ‘Thelma and Louise‘. I couldn‘t resist. 🤘🏻🔥🖤
“We‘re friends because when girls—women—are alone in this world, they‘re easier to pick off.”
I. LOVE. THIS. BOOK. Y‘ALL.
Sons of Anarchy meets Thelma and Louise? Yes, please, sign me up forever. 100 pages into this beauty, and I am in love.
This one is hard to describe. I can't say I hated it, but I didn't love it either. Especially the first half of the story felt very disjointed with several weird shifts from one scene to the next. But overall it was just clichés that were being utilized that just didn't work for me...
Heard so many great reviews of this one, so I'm kind of bummed to feel so-so about it. I thought the characters were interesting and the premise was enough to keep me reading. But things never quite came together. I sometimes felt like I was reading pieces of a draft where certain details had been edited out or not added in yet. Overall interesting enough to not bail on, but not one I'll widely recommend.
Last night's library haul. This one looks all kind of messed up but that cover rocks and I have to give it a try.
I don't remember this #MotorcycleDriveBy song at all! So here's a book with a picture of a motorcycle on the cover. It has been recommended on Book Riot a few times but I haven't read it. #90sinJuly @Cinfhen @Robothugs
Heard good things from Book Riot so grabbed this one while browsing the library yesterday!
Gritty, raw, and vital. If you love books about complex female friendship, this one is great. I still can't tell how I feel about the ending, but in a good & ambiguous way. #YA #contemporary
"This story is about Virginia and Tourmaline who know of each other at the beginning of this book, and by the end of it are best friends. There was no fluff to this friendship, no giggles or gossiping from these two. Just a raw and honest depiction of friendship and feminism. This story covers topics like interracial relationships, girls up-lifting one another, and being pawns or victims of crime. Highly recommend!" - Review by Amanda E.⠀
It's #toptentuesday! This week is all about dads. Every book in this picture has at least one notable dad/child relationship in it. Some are good, some aren't great, all are fascinating.
What are your favorite dad/child relationships in fiction?

So I'm gonna pretend I wasn't gone for three months, and just carry on like normal.
Done. Dirt. Cheap. So. Good.
This book is about girls and girl friendships and family and motorcycles. It's messy and captivating, and I highly recommend it!
Today's read! Enjoying a few quiet hours in my hotel overlooking Austin before flying home.
Ok, I'm on page 155 and nothing is really happening. Lots of set up, I see, but lost interest.
On to the next from my luscious library loot!!
I hit the library mother lode today!!!! #LibraryHaul
Book 29. So many people seemed to love this book, and I feel like it had so much potential that for me it just didn't live up to. As you can see I went with the 4 stars, I should have maybe gone with the 3 though.
"It was strange - how the world changed along with her. How hope took root and pushed up out of the cracked desert of her life."
I'm so hungover from this book. It was so subtle and so good and there were complex love interests and interracial relationships and BADASS, flawed women as main characters. I think I'm going to buy a paper copy so I can enjoy it again later. Because it's so good. SO GOOD.

True story: two weeks ago I went to THREE different indie bookstores in search of this book. This book has been a hard one to track down and I couldn't be more thrilled to have it in my hands!
I am LOVING this book! I wish I could quit my job and just read this book. Virginia and Tourmaline are such complex, kickass young women and I love them and their flaws and their hijinks. And Cash! Swoony swoon. I'm about halfway done and just want to dive in and immerse myself in this story for the rest of time (or at least today).

Strong female characters and a friendship that grows from one of convenience into the real deal are just two of the strengths of this book. There are also motorcycles, mysteries and men. All together, it makes for a fun read and one that I can recommend.
This is a really good debut novel about the unlikely friendship between the daughter of the President of a biker gang and a former pageant queen turned hustler. Well rounded characters and solid plot. I liked that the friendship wasn't instant and had to be built slowly, because an instant friendship wouldn't have worked in the given context. Looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.
I'm having a wild Friday night. I'm so happy to have a 3 day weekend and I hope to get a lot of reading done. I'm liking this book so far but I haven't really gotten into it. I hope I'll get more interested soon. But I am ALL about these s'mores girl scout cookies right now
Mood reader problems: I'm always in the middle of too many books. #riotgrams #bookriot #funfridayphoto #freebie #litsygram
I'm kind of obsessed with the new book I started at the park on my lunch break. Just look at that beautiful cover! (Thanks for sharing the book wealth @libraryfangirly) #teenlibrarian
“We‘re friends because when girls—women—are alone in this world, they‘re easier to pick off.”
"Sons of Anarchy meets Thelma & Louise." I've been hoping we'd get a copy of this biker gang YA novel before pub day, and today's the day! Honestly, canNOT read this fast enough. Be still my biker's-daughter heart. !!!!
