This was so captivating. I could have listened to this all day every day. The story she weaves was so vividly and complex. I can‘t even imagine watching the construction of the Eiffel Tower. It‘s breathtaking 100+ years later.

@HufflepuffGirl90 This came in the mail today. Let Bug know that he did a good job neutralizing that dangerous bookmark🤣 #lmpbc #round5 #GroupB
This little one is headed out to you tomorrow @Mynameisacolour !! Bug is making sure that the bookmark is dead and won‘t attack you upon arrival 😅
#catsoflitsy #LMPBC
@Littlestbookshelf lookie what just came in the mail! I can‘t wait to get started. 😘💜
#LMPBC #GroupB
@HufflepuffGirl90 this was (finally) mailed out to you yesterday with fast shipping so it should be there soon! I am so sorry it took me so long to get this to you!! I‘m finally getting over first trimester nausea and can keep my eyes open for longer than a page again! Feeling like a somewhat normal person again 😂 I have already started The Summer Wives so it should be out to you very soon as well! #lmpbc
@Bookwormjillk I received this in the mail yesterday! Excited to start soon!
@HufflepuffGirl90 yours was mailed out yesterday as well. Sorry! It‘s been packaged ready to go for a week but my husband‘s new car broke down a week ago so I have been without a car stuck at home ever since 🙄 (because he doesn‘t want anyone else to touch it) You should hav wit by the weekend!
Last week passed in a blur of flu, Odyssey of the Mind, work projects, and unwelcome snow. I‘m looking forward to getting back into #litsywalkers , my #LMBC book, and plain old reading too much this week.
I‘m excited to start this for #LMPBC. Do you all care what color pen I use? I‘m partial to plain old blue bic pens myself, but wasn‘t sure if anyone else had started yet.
Tagged book was my initial thought, but found some others that intrigued me too. It‘s really hard to find books under 300 pages! What do you think @Littlestbookshelf @Mynameisacolour @HufflepuffGirl90
I‘m making a spreadsheet of my TBR.
Husband walks in and sees me with the laptop.
Asks, “Are you getting weird about your books?”
Me? 😳 Nooooooo.
Really enjoyed this historical romance set in 1880s Paris! It wasn‘t a straightforward romance, & I appreciated that you couldn‘t tell what was going to happen right from the beginning.
This was between a pick and so-so. A slow read, but I loved the time period. All that happened within the characters lives seemed to revolve around the building of the Eiffel Tower. I'm a sucker for historical fiction with bits of historical truth.

One of my favorite paintings by Georges Seurat... raspberries to this book character. 😛😛😛
A perfectly suitable fluffy historical romance, set during the construction of the Eiffel Tower.
This premise sounded so promising, but it wasn't good enough to finish before it's due date of 3 weeks. Half way through, it was just starting to really get into what I originally understood the story to be about. I like audiobooks for the obvious convenient reasons, but I also tend to use audiobooks to get through books I don't find engaging enough to slog through visually. If I can't even make it through an audiobook, it can't be that good.
A gorgeous gorgeous cover. The story was fine but I needed more i think. Something just didn't click to make it amazing. Perhaps more depth to Cait or more connection in the love story. Not sure. Overall it's lovely and beautiful. Great descriptions and fast-paced mostly. Good. Just not great for me. Lovely quick historical fiction romance though, if you like that, which I do.

When your newest TBR addition is not only available at one of your libraries, but available as an audiobook, right darn now! 😍
Thanks @Sills for bringing it to my attention!
Update: I posted this because I was so impressed that the library had it even though it was only released two weeks ago, only to realize it was released just over a year ago and I apparently just forgot what year it is. 🤦🏻♀️🙄😆
My #bookandatreat... well my book is actually holding my treat here. Just hosted my annual cookie exchange party last week, so there are now so many cookies in the house! Yum yum yum! This one is a oreo-peppermint sugar cookie. Pictured here with the lovely book I started at the beginning of the year and set aside. So now I've restarted. :-)

@RealLifeReading
Reading a lot about Paris right now. I picked this up at Print: A Bookstore in Portland, ME in January. Looking forward to it. Isn't this a gorgeous cover?
#setinFrance
Three historical fiction books that all take place in France...
The Nightingale is one of my favorites ❤️ I'm still trying to get to the other ones!! So many and so little time!!!

⭐⭐⭐: Historical Fiction about the building of the Eiffel Tower for the 1889 Worlds Fair. Lengthy and drill at parts, entertaining at others... falling right down the middle on this one.
There were some good things in here. I liked the Eiffel tower backstory and the artists. The book was just so boring in places and seemed to jump around. It was billed as a love story, but don't expect that. The two characters who were supposed to fall in love barely shared any pages together. In a year, I will not remember anything about this book.
I really wanted to love this book but it just didn't hit the spot😔 it got better near the end but I had a really hard time getting into it. Loved hearing about a little history with the Eiffel Tower though!
Bailing on the audio. Maybe just the narrator I didn't like, so I may try it again in print. Definitely doesn't live up to its beautiful cover.
Just checked out this audiobook on Overdrive. This cover is irresistible!
This book was a little disappointing for me. I'm not a fan of romance, and while this book tried to have romance, it never really took off. But there was a good bit of sex, and that's also a negative for me. I did like the history of the Eiffel Tower and the glimpse of life in Paris during the 1800's.
Isn't this cover just beautiful? I got this for Christmas from one of my brothers and was so excited to start it today!
#TBRtemptation post! The library just processed this novel, which came out in November. A love story of historical fiction set in Paris during the Eiffel Tower's construction in 1887. Cait's a Scottish nanny and Emile is a French engineer. There's a lot to overcome for the two of them: class, sacrifice, women's social identity and role, family, etc. Lots of praise on the jacket. Added 😊! #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
Bought this yesterday from Print Bookstore in Portland, ME, because, well, PARIS - only to discover when I got back to the hotel that the book was acquired and edited by my old editor, Amy Einhorn. So now I *know* it's going to be good and am doubly excited.
My boss gave me a Barnes & Noble gift card for Christmas. I think I chose well.
Finished already, couldn't put it down!
Excited for this one!
Let me preface this by saying that I dont always love historical fiction so that may have colored my feelings a bit. But I found all the characters to be so utterly changeable that none of them felt quite believable.
*** I received an eARC of this book from Flatiron Books via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
To Capture What We Cannot Keep is a historical fiction novel that tells about the building of the Eiffel Tower. Romantic, and full of historic detail, To Capture What We Cannot Keep starts out slowly, and gradually builds toward a beautiful ending, with it really starting to pick up around the 60% mark.
A #BakerandTaylor delivery means getting excited about new books! This one caught my eye and might be going home with me.
new #bookreview at www.theirregularreaderblog.wordpress.com! To Capture What We Cannot Keep by Beatrice Colin is a lovely romance set alongside the building of the Eiffel Tower.
Off to Disneyworld. Def need good books and lots of coffee (and wine!) to get me through this trip.
Excuse me, Lola. I need to start reading this...
Colin's writing is light and easy to follow. The book is fluffy, with a few memorable lines. A light quick read when one needs to remember that love exists and the heart always knows what's best. 4/5 #netgalley
Didn't enjoy this one as much as I hoped The descriptions of Paris, it's people, and the building of the Eiffel Tower are spectacular, but the "romance" between the two main characters just dragged on. Most of the characters were frustratingly selfish as well so I just couldn't love it. ???
