Two For The Dough
Two For The Dough: A Stephanie Plum Novel | Janet Evanovich
It's Stephanie Plum, New Jersey's "fugitive apprehension" agent (aka bounty hunter), introduced to the world by Janet Evanovich in the award-winning novel One for the Money. Now Stephanie's back, armed with attitude -- not to mention stun guns, defense sprays, killer flashlights, and her trusty .38, Stephanie is after a new bail jumper, Kenny Mancuso, a boy from Trenton's burg. He's fresh out of the army, suspiciously wealthy, and he's just shot his best friend. With her bounty hunter pal Ranger stepping in occasionally to advise her, Stephanie staggers kneedeep in corpses and caskets as she traipses through back streets, dark alleys, and funeral parlors. And nobody knows funeral parlors better than Stephanie's irrepressible Grandma Mazur, a lady whose favorite pastime is grabbing a front-row seat at a neighborhood wake. So Stephanie uses Grandma as a cover to follow leads, but loses control when Grandma warms to the action, packing a cool pistol. Much to the family's chagrin, Stephanie and Granny may soon have the elusive Kenny in their sights. Fast-talking, slow-handed vice cop Joe Morelli joins in the case, since the prey happens to be his young cousin. And if the assignment calls for an automobile stakeout for two with the woman who puts his libido in overdrive, Morelli's not one to object. Low on expertise but learning fast, high on resilience, and despite the help she gets from friends and relatives, Stephanie eventually must face the danger alone when embalmed body parts begin to arrive on her doorstep and she's targeted for a nasty death by the most loathsome adversary she's ever encountered. Another case like this and she'll be a real pro. Two for the Dough is irresistible fun and powerful suspense entertainment from an acclaimed author who is already a national star.

Stephanie Plum 30 years old, Joe Morelli cop age 32, Grandma Mazur 72 years old. Rex the hamster. I enjoyed this book for its style of writing and the bounty hunter looking for Kenny Mancuso & 24 coffins. This book focused on the case yes but also on her family, love interest and hamster.

jewright These books always make me laugh. Number 25 is my favorite. 1y

Book 2 of S. plum series

In book 1, Plum, brand new to “fugitive apprehension”, realizes she needs a partner (preferably a male), so, in steps Ranger! Now she also is armed with the latest in stun guns, defense sprays, killer flashlights, and her trusty .38.

I knew Ranger was beside me because I could see his earring gleaming in the moonlight. Everything else about him—his T-shirt, his flack vest, his slicked-back hair, and 9-mm Glock—was as black as the night.

1. I borrow from the library. IF I LOVE a book it goes on my Amazon BOOK Wishlist in an effort to populate my future bookcase!

2. RECOMMENDATIONS! In fact, so many I‘ll never be able to read them all. I screen-shot the recommended books making sure to include the Litten‘s name so later I‘ll have an idea if it will be a book I‘ll love or one from a genre that‘s been hit-or-miss for me but sure to be a hit. 🖤

Twainy Errr recommendations in the form of reviews 😁 4y

The editing on this audiobook is terrible. No chapter titles, picks up in the middle of sentences after weird pauses, random music. So weird.

wanderinglynn I tried book 1 on audio, but I didn‘t care for Lori Petty as a narrator. 6y
Freespirit The narrator can make or break the book I find. 6y
ShananigansReads @wanderinglynn @Freespirit yes. I‘ve quit listening to several books because of the narrator. In this case she is fine though the accents took some getting used to. I know I‘m listening to an abridged version I think they just took the regular version and chopped it up. 6y

I‘ve had a rough week. My sister was in a horrible car accident Monday morning, so my mornings have been starting at 5 am for work and getting my kids to their activities through out the week and going to the hospital for a few hours I haven‘t been able to sleep much let alone read. Today my boys friends mother was taken to the hospital. So after work and visiting 2 hospitals today I deserve this 📖 🍷

MelissaSue81 I hope both your sister and your friend make full, smooth recoveries. Hugs to you! 6y

Day 4. #NeedaSmile. Few books get me laughing more than the Stephanie Plum series. From Stephanie, to Lula, to Grandma Mazur, there are so many characters who can put a smile on my face. Yes, the series is maybe getting to be longer than it needs to be, but I‘ll be there for every blow up car, botched bond enforcement pick up, and family dinner in the Burg.

Like the first book in the series, this one is more slapstick buddy-cop comedy than actual mystery novel. Stephanie Plum continues to be mostly incompetent as a bounty hunter, and still can't resist Joe Morelli, who continues to be a complete jerk. The best character, hands down, is Grandma Mazur. If nothing else, read it for her.

minkyb I love Grandma Mazur but I am a Lula fan as well! 8y

On the advice of some of you lovely Littens, I'm diving back into the Stephanie Plum series, which I started over the summer and then kind of forgot about. I'm also realizing, though, that pretty much all of Stephanie's relationships could probably qualify as a #BadRomance. She doesn't necessarily know how to pick 'em. #LyricalApril

Cinfhen Poor Stephanie Plum 😔 8y
drokka I reckon romance isn't her problem, commitment on the hand.... 8y
kristina_with_a_k I love this series. Each book is such a light, fluffy, funny read. 8y
minkyb Perfect choice. Even though not every book is riveting I love them and read them eagerly. 8y
