Professional organizers will tell you not to keep single socks. I learned the hard way that as soon as you throw out a mateless sock, you will find the missing mate. I also like to make pairs #oddsocks if they‘re a similar weight. #daysdevotedto

Everything in its place! Apparently #DannyBoy is school supplies now…which actually makes sense for our homeschool.
I‘ve been overwhelmed in recent months and am working on getting myself organized and functioning better. I hope to catch up on reviews over the next few days, without a full-on blast! Stay tuned to see what I‘ve been reading.
#catsofLitsy
Eventually it will get to the stage where this becomes a cosy book nook and set up for video games. It's a work in progress, so have a semi-shelfie!!!!
Or this can be like Where's Wally?
Can you find:
A) 2 dragons and a dinosaur
B) Some cumbersome art books that won't fit on my shelf
C) Illumicrate coasters!
D) A Pokemon terrarium and a Pokemon
E) Some epic tunes
F) LEGO that needs assembling
G) A bunny and an angry adipocyte
Moving some books and shelves around. Good excuse to rearrange and recategorizing things. What are people's thoughts on going two rows deep on mass market paperbacks?
Per request, here is my sock drawer. A couple pairs are in the laundry (and one pair is on my feet), but you get the idea. Inspired by the only sentence in my Twitter profile: Marie Kondo would love my sock drawer but hate my bookshelves.
That‘s the corner of an old Metro fare card in the upper left.
So… I MAY have insomnia again.
I haven‘t crocheted in a while.
I‘m on to #audiocrocheting a mystery cowl.
#LitsyCrafters
Finished this 12 Days of #knitmas cowl yesterday.
A perfect project and book for #audioknitting
Now I look like my Polish grandmother.

I'm not saying that the solution to all my book storage problems is to keep purchasing trolleys indefinitely until I can no longer cross the room. I'm just saying... you know... options! 😋
👀 LOOK what came in the mail yesterday 😁 it matches the book I got mere days earlier.
The audiobook is great. And while it might not be life-changing it is motivating!
We just signed a lease on a place that has bookshelves (with a ladder!). My spouse thinks this means we should get rid of our Billy bookcases. I'm not following his logic.
My TBR list on Goodreads was not (& is not) bringing me joy. 😅
Today, I committed to tidying it up. I‘ve already deleted more than 70 books! This is going to be a JOB, for sure (I‘ve been using GR since 2012), but I can‘t wait for the end result.
I also downloaded StoryGraph. I‘m not sure about it yet but I like that it‘s not Amazon-owned, of course. If you use it (or something else!) to track your reading, I‘d love to hear about it! 🖤
When I picked up this book, I honestly didn't think there would be any truly informative or revolutionary ideas inside. Well, I was wrong! I really enjoyed Kondo's insights and lessons about why we shouldn't always keep mementos; her writing about being stuck in the past and missing who you used to be really touched me. It helped me move on from an old friendship. I do feel lighter, happier for having read this. Now to actually tackle my house!
This passage really spoke to me. I've been struggling with making a decision on whether I should get rid of these incredibly sentimental letters I own. They're from a former friend of almost 15 years. We got off on bad terms, but I've kept her many letters to me. I think it's time to let go. I get sad thinking about throwing them out, but they don't spark joy. Upon reflection, they've fulfilled their role. Thank you Marie for helping me move on.
@FantasyChick wanted to see some uncensored shelf action... here are my shelves of shame! 😱😱😱😱 ... yes that is a sock balancing on the electric fan cable... no, I have no idea how it got there 😅
One of these days, this place will be a minimalist paradise... one of these days!
#shittyshelfie
P.S. I'm gonna go back to taking extensively curated pictures of the one area I've tidied from now on 😂😂😂
💌 Happy #SimplicityDay ! I had never heard of it before, and after I looked up the definition I decided to read a few more chapters in this book, and work on this letter purging project again. I got rid of 2 more boxes & found a love letter my grandpa wrote my grandma in WWII.
👚 I read the chapters on clothes and laundry a long time ago and they were, no joke, life-changing.
👖 Great #JulyJourneys prompt @Eggs and @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks !
🎧 I‘ve owned this book since it came out. Why did I wait so long to read it? Great common sense information for those of us who have too many things in our lives & don‘t know what to do with the things we need to keep. Good narration. I will definitely return to this book for motivation/inspiration! I can‘t believe I waited so long. Of course there are some ideas I will ignore (leave my book alone LOL) but plenty of helpful hints! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I join @Lindy in her estimation that some parts of Kondo‘s life-changing magic are quite funny, without knowing if that was the author‘s intention. I did like it because it supported my anyway already existing feeling of needing to clear out. It did not enlighten me. But I felt it offers impetus even though the general concept is a bit too drawer-fixated. 🤷🏽♀️
I don‘t see why it got only 1-star-ratings at my library.
Hope, I tagged the right book. I wasn‘t aware that there are 2 (or even more) books about “magic cleaning”. My library obviously has the second one.
It‘s okay. But pretty much a book about “getting things going”. I know a bit about this method and didn‘t find many insights so far but I really liked Kondo‘s tune of writing.
Before Corona, I had plans to radically clear out some stuff. But since I need assistance, it didn‘t work out until now. 😞
I actively avoided both this book and the Netflix series after seeing the sheer amount of stuff people had and were throwing away. But, when I found the book in a LFL, I decided to give it a try in the hopes that Marie Kondo addresses the issue of overconsumption, how to properly rid your home of unwanted items, and how to avoid falling into the same habits of overconsumption. Unfortunately, she doesn‘t. Full review: https://bit.ly/32oq4LU 📚 2⭐️
If you‘re stuck at home in this nasty weather, I hope you have power and water!
If you‘re bored and stir-crazy, you may be thinking about reorganizing your home. Be sure to consider the all-important cat basket.
Kondo is so endearing to me and she doesn't make you feel bad for clutter at all. She warms my heart and reading this book felt so wholesome. Thank you for taking me on this journey it was beautiful.
This book is not bringing me joy.
Culling books for donation. It's hard! Polly is providing emotional support. #catsoflitsy #readerproblems
I haven‘t been reading much due to the birth of my baby on 7/20. I would post a picture of her, but unfortunately I watched that Jeffrey Epstein documentary on Netflix and now I‘m paranoid. Nevertheless, this is my current read stack and I have a bunch of LitsyLove going out on Monday. Hope everyone‘s staying safe out there!

New Post Today!
#konmari book sorting continues. So far I have about thirty books that won‘t be staying in my collection. Tomorrow or later today I‘ll be looking at my “practical” books like cookbooks, reference books, dictionaries, etc. I‘m also including music books in this category, and that‘s going to be tackled on Tuesday.
And here are all my #booksonthefloor. Books currently on the shelves are my Nancy drew collection which I will NOT be parting with, my brother‘s books, yearbooks, and photo albums.
Doing an eight week #konmari tidy challenge and this week is BOOKS. I did go through my books a few years ago using this method but I‘m going to be a bit more ruthless this time because I‘m running out of shelf space since my brother moved in. This is my before #shelfie. The living room is a bit messy due to other things that are ongoing in my life (ha).
💗Its #witmonth and time to #integrateyourshelf !! 💗
These books above are my favorites from WIT Month over the years. I've got Girls of Riyadh next.
Yep. I strongly dislike her.
I have been on a cleaning and organizing spree recently, which has included purging my bookshelves! I joined PaperBack Swap about 9 months ago and have been able to re-home many books through them. If you are looking for some new reads, check out my profile and request them through PBS. I'd love to send some of my books to new homes with Litsy friends!
My profile: https://www.paperbackswap.com/profile/index.php?nickname=stephanie-geiser
There are four other shelves in the house but these are my favorites. They look so nice and there‘s plenty of room for new books now.
Still plenty of books on the floor! These are my donations. I need sort them and decide what can go to the library or to teachers and what I‘ll put in the local Little Free Library.
Digits helped me sort through my books and decide what sparked joy.
All my books in the floor!
Did my first book purge in seven years at my house last weekend. I used Marie Kondo‘s method and it worked so well!
I have to admit I was a little apprehensive when my sister got me this for Christmas. I remembered the uproar over the idea of paring down one‘s library. But now that I‘ve finished the book, I feel motivated and ready to declutter! I‘m super curious to see how many books I can get rid of (they‘ll be donated, don‘t worry!).
1. Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff
2. Stories of Your Life and Others by Ted Chiang
3. Remove it! Use it for storage only.
#wondrouswednesday
After watching the series on Netflix, watching as many youtube videos of the KonMari method as I could find & beginning to use the method to tidy my home- I read the book where it started & must say this book sparks JOY 😍 I read it cover to cover in a day! Definitely recommend!
🤔🤔Kondo now has an online store where you can buy more “stuff.”
