1. A yoga mat and card deck. It started a lifelong practice (with some gaps here and there) that has helped me, both mentally and physically, throughout my life.
2. My father and his many boxes of sci-fi books.
3. Don‘t have one. Been a jill-of-all-trades drifter before being a SAHM.

I enjoyed the writing and multi-faceted approach to this. A good book that should be read.

There were some things I loved and some I didn‘t. All in all, for this writing style, I think I prefer Douglas Adams.

An enjoyable read in a genre I don‘t normally get into. I‘ll be looking up the rest in the series.

I liked Emira. That‘s about it. Absolutely hated Alix and the more we learned of her, the more I didn‘t like her, which felt like the point but I almost bailed a couple of times.
Story felt clunky to me.

I really enjoyed these stories. Some seem present day, some post-apocalyptic or adjacent. I always love short stories.

A good follow up after a serious/hard book.

Binti is a Himba woman who dares to leave for her dream and runs into some unexpected space trouble.

The depth of feeling I have for Binti so quickly into her story speaks so well of the writing. There are so many cool little details. I want to know more about humans in this time! Looking forward to reading the next one. I want to see Binti‘s future.

This was a tough read, but an important one. Shows the everyday hardships and tragedies these women faced and how they shaped their growth - beyond what they imagined they could.

Perhaps a bad pick for a Reading Rush - It‘s a tough book and hard to read a lot of at a time.

An excellent follow-up to the first and another favorite.

Pic is one of my favorite Star Trek earrings, given as a gift. Special Edition celebrating, I think, the 50th anniversary. @wanderinglynn

Having trouble getting into this book. I like most of the characters I guess. Not really sure how I feel about the writing in general though.

Life of Pi | Yann Martel
Pickpick

An astounding story written so as to touch the soul. Having just finished, I‘m finding it quite difficult to find words to correctly convey my feelings.
5 stars because I will read it a thousand times again.
Pi‘s life-even before the trip at sea-is bright, fascinating, ensnaring. I never tired of it.
The writing is the kind that lifts me up; at times opens you up. It is touching and I find myself aching to read any and all else of the author.

Well written. Full of details, yet still stark in the telling. A story of one group, but also of many. Tells us if all the complicated lines intertwined in a group making a crossing and why.

Born a Crime | Trevor Noah
Pickpick

I like the way Trevor wrote this book. It felt like we were sitting down together and he was telling me stories - like he does when he tells stories on camera.
Trevor takes you through his South African upbringing both through the eyes of his young self and the adult views and info we need to make sense of them. In a complicated place and time, Trevor dealt with not just the apartheid difficulties but the shadows they left behind.
