I appreciate that this was both a great love story and a twisty historical piece! Lily and Nick had me rooting for them the whole time, and I didn't see the Kiki reveal coming at all. I'm glad I grabbed this solo work by Williams! #historicalfiction

My “bright side” days of summer include: the ocean, hiking with my son, swimming at the beach, my garden, living on my front porch, Cape Cod. 🦀🪶🐚☀️🌊🏊♀️🏖️
I am catching up- work has been beyond hectic!
Got this finished up and it will be in the mail and headed your way @Mccall0113 Sorry I‘m late getting it out to you
This was a quick, easy read. Not my favorite by her but a good summer/beach read.
I love her books and covers! They are so beautiful and her books are so well researched! 🌊💙💛 🌞 🏖

I‘m behind!! Pesky things like work 😆
Here is my #bookspin list for August. Mostly I‘ve been gravitating towards thrillers lately so the list is thriller-heavy. It‘ll also depend on what holds come in at the library. Two are required for work, and the tagged book is for my #lmpbc group. Happy reading, friends! @TheAromaofBooks
Wednesday afternoon #bookhaul from a favorite used bookstore! #likeineedmorebooks
I liked this one. Those darn girls of post-crash, pre WWII East-coast island summers - there‘s always one you just can‘t trust!
A random assortment of options from my dusty TBR piles...let me know if any seem interesting, you've already read them or any just seem 🤭 I'm always happy to go back to the drawing board. #LMPBC #GroupK @LiteraryinLawrence @shellleigh33 @Mccall0113
Misty you spoil me! Thank you! Can‘t wait to dig into this book this summer. It‘s been on my want to read list for ages.
Mostly the tagged one so I can get people hooked on Beatriz Williams. I also recommend books I‘ve just read.
@Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks #sundaysoapbox
To me, summer always means Beatriz Williams. I read my first one of hers on vacation a few years ago, & now I like to uphold that tradition. This story of family secrets, first loves, & friendship takes place, in part, during the summer of the New England hurricane of 1938. Although not my favorite of hers, still a great beach read.
Much of this story is about rich people who act horribly. Budgie made me think of Daisy Buchanan & Lily is so naive it‘s painful. Aunt Julie was my favorite. I thought the hurricane would be a more central part of the story but perhaps that was the point. The story all wrapped up a little too neatly but it was a fun read. #richpeopleproblems
Lordy, I have such a hard time making a decent bingo board! I really wish Pic Collage had a 5x5 grid. But here it is, such as it is. July #BookSpinBingo
This just didn‘t grab my interest all the way. Historical fiction is a tough genre for me. It really needs to reel me in right in the beginning or I have a hard time staying focused. This was okay. It got better. But, I didn‘t love it.

🗽I'm not sure, I'm still not great at adulting. 🤣 My favorite teacher said always make time to read. I think that's solid advice. Nobody finds more time.
Thanks, @wanderinglynn & @tournevis!!

This was a good, quick read; I‘d recommend it as a holiday read. I didn‘t love it though and found some parts irritating and a little contrived. Not sure I‘ll read more Beatriz Williams.
Great deal on one of my favorite books!! 💚💚

Day11
Picked this up because the mention on the cover of the 1938 hurricane that devastated New England caught my eye. I live right in the region that received the worst impact, and I know people who actually lost family members in that storm. This book was 98% cheesy romance and 2% about the hurricane. I wasn't impressed. 2/5 stars, but only because I managed to finish it.
This was my first Beatriz Williams. It won‘t be my last. Thoroughly engaging and so romantic. 😍😍
I had to laugh when I saw the three authors listed. I‘ve heard of them all. Have I read them? Nope. But I own their books. In fact 5 of their books. I think that proves how much my buying overcomes my reading. Another author I own but haven‘t read yet is Mary Roach. I‘ve heard such great things about her books. Why do I do this to myself?

Often asked what book would qualify as a 'beach read'. If you google 'beach reads' you well find books in many genres. For me a good 'beach read' is where the story or the setting is in contrast to reality at the beach. I find in the summer months or while I am on vacation on some island, I tend to read author's like Nancy Thayer, Elin Hilderbrand, Karen White, Wendy Francis and Mary Alice Monroe.

What qualifies a 'beach read for you?
My latest audiobook. Beatriz Willams is always a good choice for both an #audiobook and a #summerread. I love the reader for her books and that easy summer feeling of the story. Highly recommend her books if you love #historicalfiction.
